    In your opinion, are the Wolves better or worse offensively with Julius Randle instead of KAT?

    • @superdopehiphop
      @superdopehiphop 7 дней назад +4

      Hell no especially in the playoffs. This came down to money for Wolves period. Would be shocked if Randle and/or DD are both on Wolves for the long haul.
      Rudy KAT was by far best defensive combo against Jokic in NBA (maybe Allen Mobley close 2nd). KAT showed me something last playoffs which Randle hasn’t showed me yet. KAT career per game stats/efficiency wash his too.
      No way in Hell do Wolves make the trade if KAT was making half his salary for so many years to come.

      They'll be better on offense eventually, but they'll dominant on defense much sooner. Towns was a bit limited on offense, especially in crunch time and in the playoffs, but he was/is so awful on defense that he will weigh down any team he's on, cuz you need rim protection from your center, not just stretch shooting, especially since so many bigs can now shoot threes now, it's not as much of a commodity as it once was when Towns entered the league when the game was just starting to move in that direction.

    The biggest reason for the Cavs recent success is because of the BIG steps Mobley's development, plus they've had some consistency with the team's chemistry and can still win when one or two guys are out of the lineup.

    Did he watch SGA in the playoffs last year?
    He was AMAZING and his teammates CLEARLY let him down vs Mavs in WCSF when SGA was 32, 8, 7, 3.5 stocks on 51/55/83 splits! He clearly was the best player in that series over Luka or Kyrie, but his TEAMMATES let him down missing a ton of open 3s.
    SGA last playoffs was 3rd in BPM behind only Jokic LeBron, 3rd in WS/48 behind Joker AD, 3rd in VORP per game behind Jokic Bron, he had the best per 100 +/- of any Top10 player in NBA besides Tatum in 2024 playoffs too.
    SGA was AMAZING that series vs Mavs.
    Very few players EVER (I’ll have to look it up on stathead to be sure, but as NBA/ABA/stat nerd I know of what I speak) have had as great of series as SGA had vs Mavs in WCSF!
    32.2 PPG
    8.0 RBG
    7.3 APG (shoulda have been higher if his teammates didn’t miss so many 3s…Chet, Dort, Wiggins, Giddey, Jay Will & Cason Wallace that series were horrid 38/134 from 3 or 28.4%! If they’re a league avg 35%, nevermind hot 38-40% they win that series which went 6 in spite of them!)
    3.5 stocks
    51/55/83
    Only 2 TPG which at 32% usage is elite!
    He was 125 O-Rating & 111 D-Rating that series even though the team as aw whole was 112.3 112.3 on O/D with a nearly 28 GameScore! How elite is 28 GS? The 3 best 3 since GS started in 83-84 season in their prime in the playoffs are MJ Bron Jokic around 25-30 GS somewhere and for their career no one is > 25.1!
    Luka was 110 110 (O/D-Rating both) that series with a 21 GS. Mavs had 7 guys that series shoot 37-50% from 3 while Mavs had only 3 guys shoot above 37% from 3! Nearly 40% from 3 for Mavs vs 33.5% for OKC and that’s with SGA 11/20 outside of him they were 31% from 3!
    Outside of Luka Mavs teammates 39.8% from 3, outside of SGA Thunder teammates 31.4% from 3! The series boiled down to that, but OBJECTIVELY SGA was easily the best player that series and a top3-4 player on a per game basis in last years playoffs overall and the only ones who were def better was Jokic wi/ LeBron AD SGA all close for 2nd-4th.
    Like what are we doing here? He knows basketball is a TEAM game right? SGA played AMAZING, but his TEAM lost. Same has happened to every great player!

      36 (13-19 FG, 1-1 3s, 9/11 FTs)
      8 assists
      4 stocks
      +8 ON (38.5 mins) vs -10 OFF
      Again his TEAM let him 3 going 13/43 outside of him (31.7%).
      Meanwhile Mavs 41% from 3.
      Mavs bench out scored Thunder 50-25!

      Listen to what he’s saying though. The Mavs made all those 3s because your coach was leaving PJ and DJJ wide open on corner 3s, so that they could load up on Luka and Kai. Meanwhile Mavs basically let Shai get his and didn’t really have to double munch. Even last night, Mavs were okay with letting Lively guard Shai in space. Because as dude in this clip said, they aren’t afraid of him pulling up from deep.

    • @angelsaint-hilaire4372
      @angelsaint-hilaire4372 7 дней назад

      Dude isn’t saying Shai isn’t great. Like you, he agrees that Shai can get his own buckets at an elite level. He’s criticizing his ability to get easier shots for his teammates and that was clear in the playoffs.

    • @superdopehiphop
      @superdopehiphop 7 дней назад

      @@angelsaint-hilaire4372 his teammates missed MANY open to wide open 3s vs Mavs in the series. I watched the entire series.
      I didn’t watch last nights game as I was at Pacers game, but the rest of the team shooting 31.7% from 3 is not on him.
      All a player can control is what they do on the court.
      When SGA was on the court vs Mavs in the series and last night he was elite, but his teammates let him down. This isn’t rocket science.
      He was +8 last night in nearly 39 mins of the court and his TEAM was -10 in the nearly 9 mins he was off.
      Last yr vs Mavs he was 125 Rating on court and 111 Defensive Rating. He did his job his teammates didn’t.
      TEAMS win games not solo players.

  • @lowmanhelp
    @lowmanhelp 6 дней назад

    This SGA thing is triggering for some. I'm not saying he isn't great-he is. I'm simply saying that his game translates better (as a #1 option) to regular-season success (which he's had) than to playoff success (which he hasn't had… yet).
    The reason is the threat of shooting, specifically his inability to beat a team four out of seven times by shooting the ball.
    This allows teams to play a style of defense that allows SGA opportunities while keeping their defensive shell tight so as not to give up a high volume of opportunities to other OKC players.
    During the playoffs last season, SGA was Blitzed in the PnR 2.75% of the time.
    For reference:
    Curry: 39.1%
    Dame: 25%
    Ant: 17.9%
    Luka: 13.5%
    Kyrie: 11.6%
    Maxey: 9.64%
    In ISO situations SGA was doubled 4% of the time.
    This % was not in the top 10 of players in ISO situations.
    Teams are willing to “bet” on SGA, not beating them himself. He can develop, and this can change. But currently, he's incapable of shooting the ball at a clip that scares teams enough to take the ball out of his hands.

    • @MegaWrh
      @MegaWrh 6 дней назад

      I understand your argument, but I don't agree with it. There's more than one way to skin a cat and SGA puts non stop pressure on the rim, and unlike Ja Morant, teams can't give him a huge cushion, his stepback is too lethal for that. (And honestly I'm not convinced that Morant couldn't be the engine of a great playoff offense if he could ever stay healthy)
      The Mavs were able to stash Lively/Gafford on Giddey/Dort, or even concede pick and pops to Holmgrem, plant them in the paint and protect the rim. They didn't need to double or blitz SGA because the Thunder weren't able to knock down enough 3s to make them pay for that strategy. Chet shot 6/27 from 3 for the series and Dort went 9/32 over the last 4 games, and I liked a lot of the looks that they got

      Step violation and offensive foul in that play. It was a signature play, though. Randle isn't nearly agile enough to break free in the perimeter without extra steps or throwing elbows, so we will see many plays like this in the future. It's not like he's going to play in the post where he would be allowed to use his elbows more according to the rulebook.

    I don't agree with SGA take, but I admire the moxie. I'll definitely remember it if SGA struggles to drive great offense in these playoffs. I just think there's more than one way to skin a cat and he doesn't necessarily need the pullup 3 to draw two and create good looks for teammates

    Better for the reason the guest mentioned. Adams “Randles mentality is score 1 score 2 pass 3” is just obviously not the case. The number of times he drives with the clear intent to pass is high and to compare his passing to goberts (although Rudy has improved) is frankly an embarrassing take.
