Really awesome setup!! I love the large size and pick & pack foam so it can evolve or expand with your changing needs. The workbench was such a nice added touch. Can’t wait to try this on my own truck! Thanks!
Great video. I had this case on my FJ, and I was going to sell it because I don’t want it on the roof of my Titan I got. But, I picked up a rack similar to yours and it gave me inspiration to do the same thing as you. Thanks man!
I would of drilled the chain hooks into the back, same place you bolted the box to the truck rack. Then you could put as much weight on it as you need.
1:00 It takes skill to pause between words as you finilaize your thoughts and allow perfect timing for the rooster to crow within said pause. mad skill. you are one with the farm animals. western zen.
Just got a Gen4 Taco, installing a Tonneau Cover/Bed Rack combo. Similar overland rack as yours. And trying to find "saddle" style storage is impossible. This DIY is exactly what I want. So TYSM for the idea!! Great work.
super nice, thanks for posting, great info How tall is your rack? 16 inches? Are you happy with that height? I am considering the same XO rack system but thinking slightly taller than cab height for a kayak, plywood, etc. I would appreciate your thoughts on that. Thanks
Yes a 16, although I’m not sure that height is made any more. Yeah, I got my height for the same, but decided I would use some sort of riser to clear the roof. The last time I loaded a ladder, I used 2x4’s to clear the cab. That seamed to work. I think a kayak in the standard 45degree carrying angle, would probably clear it as well without much issue.

Hey man, nice video! Great idea, and gotta love Harbor Freight! Also love the FUNKY music! Check out my Maverick videos if you get a chance. Always good to see other folks enjoying their trucks!
Haha! I probably spend WAY too much time looking for the right sound lol. It’s just another way of expressing how I feel when I’m making the vids. I subbed to you! I actually watched another one of your vids last week! I’m all over the place in content but I’m just doing me at this point and enjoying whoever wants to come along for the ride. Thanks for your comment!
@@DaleDoesItAll way too many critics out there! It takes guys to put yourself out there. It's easy to be critical but if folks don't like what we do they should just move on. Keep up the good work!
That would be sweeeeeeeeettttt lol. I’m not gonna lie, originally I was going to do a wood top but I didn’t want to put too much weight on the hinges lol. Thanks for watching!!!!
Store bottles and glasses in another set of foam and just build a polished wood insert to sit over the egg crate. Little glampy lol but still frickin cool

NP! Thanks for the comment! Hope I could help!
Maaaaaaan!!! That is just perfect! I like watching projects done that don't fit the standard ideas. Thanks for some new ideas!
Thanks! I look forward to bringing others! Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!
Harbor Freight needs to sponsor your channel! You hear that Harbor Freight?! I got you sir!! Dope channel, keep it up!
Oh and ford should supply you a new truck!! You’re up Ford!!
Say it again for the people in The back 😂

Thanks man! Happy to help!
This is really awesome man. I’m going to use your exact same method.
Good luck my friend! Mine is still holding up with no issues!

Oh man! Good idea!
That is super slick. I want to figure out a way to mount a toolbox in my Mav.
Thanks! Good luck to you my friend!

WOW really cool and creative enjoyed this video.
Thanks man!
Very clever. Good job buddy, thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
That's awesome! Well made video also! And I'm probably gonna steal this idea for my truck😄
That’s what it’s here for! Knowledge sharing my friend! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Thanks for the feedback! Glad I could help!
Ever finish this I’m thinking about getting a set for my taco?
Damn crazy, cool idea
Thanks my friend!
Really cool, nice job.
Thank you Sir!
Great idea!
Thanks!
Added these three years ago to my truck. Remove the handles on the ends to get rid of the whistling. They are simple push pins to tap out.
Awesome! How’d they hold up over that time?
I would flip it around, put 2 90lbs struts in the sides and have it open up!
Do it and let’s see how it looks! Good idea!
Saweet I'm gonna do this for my cooking gear.....
Right on!
super nice, thanks for posting, great info

hey , what height did you order for your overland rack because it seems like they have 10", 15" 20" and I like yours how it's flush with the roof.
Hi! I purchased the 16”, however I agree that’s no longer a listed option on their website. I wonder if they changed their height descriptions?
Best video ever!!
Thank you so much!!!
Hiw tall is your XTR1? Looks like it's exactly flush with roof. How noticable is wind noise?
Hey! I got the 16” rack! Absolutely 0 wind noise. Thanks for watching!
I did something similar on my F250. Pics are in the FB group.
Oh sweet! How’s it holding up? Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@DaleDoesItAll it’s still new like yours. I think I got 2 weeks on you.
Can you still put a tonnuea cover on it with your set up?
Hello my friend! I purchased the Wide brackets with the Overland Xtrusion rack which allows for some compatibility with the tonnaue covers.
Did you have any issues with water ingress?
Absolutely zero issues!
Where can i buy that rack pls
Xtrusion overland is the brand! Try their website!
What are the measurements of the case?

long term review that foam sucks it will all sink down and tear the foam leave all your stuff flopping around
I agree that it’s not ideal. Should be more dense. I have the ability to cnc the foam location for a denser foam, but it suits my needs well.
Good idea! Now your rear mirror is useless! Xtrusion overland actually has recessed mounting brackets for that kind of application.
I’m not sure I understand what you mean?? I can see perfectly fine through every single one of my mirrors with no obstruction. Thanks for watching!
It looks like the box is blocking your view. That's what I meant. But if it works, it works! Good job!
Love the DIY but its too thin, all your tools will fall out when u open it
I can assure you they don’t!
Look nice but waist to much space, not practical
To each his own! Thanks for commenting!
I’d make it into a bar, liquor standing up with a wood top 😉
