Sully didn't want Jamie killed because Dushane was taking a liking to him. Sully wanted him dead because he was literally trying kill him. Sully was the real and first killer out the group. He was the "shooter" everyone knew and was scared of him because of that. Sully knew he would kill Jamie the moment Jamie attacked the youngins on the road and Laten popped at him at the cremation.

For me Sully's character was the standout performance. Kano owned it imo. Sully was a complex character, but truly and honestly attached to his emotions. I think right up to that point with Stefan, he had emotion in everything he did. He never asked for forgivness for what he was, instead he accepted it no matter the outcome. The two best Sully scenes were when Jason died and he had to kill Dris. He was also governed by a moral code too - when Deshane planted the bag at Jamie's, Sully hated that, as using the feds to get to Jamie was against what Sully would do - Deshane didn't give two shits though. That last line 'we didn't lose, but we didn't win either' summed it up for me. As much as it was coming, I hated seeing Sully go the way he did.

"But you're my boy, I ain't gonna do you nothing, no matter how fuc*ing stupid you are" - Dushane (S1. Ep4). When Dushane chooses not to set Sully up but kills Bobby Raikes instead, who was ''Top Boy'' at the time, the dynamic between Dushane and Sully changes forever. By killing Raikes, Dushane becomes Top Boy making Sully a subordinate. At that moment, Sully knows that he was spared by his best friend in an act of loyalty but he is also aware of the power change that causes. Before Dushane leaves Sully, he tells him that from now on things will run differently. And (top) boy they did!

When Sully said to Dris “i never knew you wore glasses” it speaks volumes about their so called friendship and friendships in general in the show. They were supposed to be best friends and he didn’t even know something as basic as dris wearing glasses. It shows that there aren’t any genuine friendships in this type of lifestyle - just guilt, anger, power and greed.

Sully killed Jamie because he was making deals behind Dushane’s back with the cartel and killed his best friend Kit (Dushane intentionally gave him the task to see if he would be loyal to him or snake his best friend). Sully's face lighting up when his little buddie says his "dream" is to go to a Football game. The thing is Sully seen himself in the Kid, as he had very similar circumstances to his childhood. Us kids who have grown up with an addict parent, we instantly connect because no one else understands what it was like to be malnourished and not have anyone care about you enough to do anything about it.
I lived in a smack-hub for like 5 years as a kid. Seen allsorts transpire and it messed me right up. I grew up with a skewed outlook on life in general. You can't form proper relationships and in turn you will use people like you were used, but without even realising you're doing anything wrong.
By the time you figure it out, you've already messed up enough for a lifetime. I can connect with the young lad, a lot. I've been in those same situations. Sully, not so much as I never turned into a Monster the way he did, although one or two things slightly different, and I'd have been there. I was only missing the early violence, due to not being around my Dad until I was 12 (he was in Jail for my whole childhood) I had no male role model, so I never picked up any of that side of it.

I knew Sully was going to die in that scene. The way the camera moves to show you the side window, spotted it a mile off. Also with the few scenes before Jaq's sisters death. I guessed that too, although I didn't know which one would die, and how it would happen. You could just tell by the dialogue used previously, that it was setting up a shock-death. Once you know what to look for, it becomes way easier to predict what will happen in movies in TV.
You see a heartfelt moment where people seem like everything is going to be alright? nah blud, that's what we call a "bait and switch" they do this to put you off the scent, and make the subsequent deaths, all the more powerful. After GOT, this kind of scenes became way easier to predict, as everyone is biting that style of death now, they're really easy to spot (in most cases)
it does ruin film and TV for you though, as once you understand how this stuff is written, and the current troupes in screen writing, you can just see the set up's a mile off.
It's like when I was a Kid, I was taught to read foreshadowing. And once you can read this, it starts t become way easier to predict what will happen. The writers use foreshadowing as a way to tell us what is going to happen next. A great example is in cheesy, soap operas like Neighbours. They will show you some seemingly random object. that's foreshadowing, because in the next scene, someone will have accident with that object.
Once you can see this stuff though, there's no going back, you have been warned.

I always felt like that Sully killed Jamie because he was afraid he was going to do the same thing to him and Dushane, if you remember from summerhouse Dushane didn’t sell Sully out because he was his boy even tho they were bickering at that time and Kit was Jamie’s boy but he killed him as if it was nothing to be trusted to become top boy and that made it clear to Sully even tho he wasn’t really trusting him even before

For me… I never really liked Dushane, I thought he was absolutely heartless & one of the scenes that solidified it to me is when Sully just escaped and watched Jason burn to death in a fire & he’s clearly traumatised and trying to express himself to Dushane talking abut being able to smell the smoke in his skin and in his sleep and all Dushane cares about is money & chucking him a stack calling him crazy: he didn’t even support Sully at the funeral. Sully was the only one there …
They say Sully is a psychopath and a killer but I believe he was highly emotional & that’s why he was the way he was. He was reactive & couldn’t control his emotions but so conflicted about his actions at times and it weighed heavy on him. He put the code before everything and that’s what made him a killer, disrespect was unacceptable no matter how much he loved or believed in the person, like you see with Dris, Kieran and what would have eventually been Jaqs.
Another scene in the season before last, Jaqs was under so much pressure, she had killed people the day before, Dushane was relying on her for everything everyday, her sister was begging to come home, she was petrified of sully finding out about her sister… there’s a scene where Jaqs is stood in a club waiting for a girl to stop rapping so they could kidnap her and ask about what had happened the little boy Attica (Stefans best friend) and she was just ZONED out and soulless… she was so empty. I thought how they showed the pressure of being in these gangs and what happens to you as a person was shown perfectly through Jaqs in that scene … after shooting someone to death the work carries on

  • @RPrxm
    @RPrxm 10 месяцев назад +24

sully's reason for shooting at dushane was far more complex than being the top boy. I believe sully never wanted to be in dushane's position, but dushane never had principle, thats how sully took over. dushane was selfish and thought he was the only one runnin tings, sully is why he got that far. dushane never thought of it as a partnership.

What is with you dudes with this Sully jock ridin. If you go back to Summerhouse, Sully was an idiot who constantly made bad decisions. Dushane took out Bobby Raikes, who in fact wanted Sully dead. After that Dushane separated from Sully and was moving on his own. Dushane had food and Sully was trying to raise money to buy food. Sully, like an imbecile kidnapped his own cousin and landed himself in hot water. Dushane got him out of that also. So what are you saying fam?

    • @SheedLordBear
      @SheedLordBear 10 месяцев назад +2

@@jamelcarpenter327 You are right about Jamie. First of all Sully saw that Jamie planned on making his moves when they were in Spain because the bull put him out there on front street. After this… Jamie killed his childhood friend, which shows how much of a savage Jamie is. Dushane liked him because he admired his intelligence and thus, was blinded by it.

Can't believe this ended up being a decade-long, epic. The last season was a bit rough, but still, I never thought it would make it past season 1, on channel 4. It was one of them things where it just seemed like a 1-off. We've had lots of similar projects over the years, in the UK. None of them ever really made it this far. Granted the "Kidulthood" series was very popular as well, but they were movies. and similarly, fell off towards the ned there.
The first 2 films are certified UK-Hood, classics.

There is Lot to say about the series including sommerhouse
    Dris
The Funny thing about dris becouse i watch the topboy sesaon 3 first. Was sad when he got killed by sully. But in the Sommerhouse seasons Dris was a the toalty ashole.
    Dushane
In real Live Dusahne was always the Offichal Marketing Face for the Series. But make now mistake
Dushane was a selfish busines man - his downfall was whell deserved.
    Sully
Was an Loast Soul from the beginng with out no beginng and End so i think his death was iven a relive to him self
Kearon just showed Loyalty to Jaq witch coast his Live.
    JAQ
IS Achualy 2econd Winner in this becouse she anderstood after her sisters death that she had to stop selling drugs. But the way she been starting the how thing was emotionly wrong and coast Kerons Live. In Sully making her clear twice that some cind of reperchusing are to be follow she new she had to take Sully out twice for shure - becouse Sully been killed in a wounderbual Place , a place where he use to meets his Dougther. Only two new of this Steph & Jaq - steph refuse to kill Sully - so its only Jaq left.
    8:10
    Jammy
Was one of my favorite caracters.
Had achualy big Heart not only for his brothers but proove that to the kid in Marroco.❤. But to be fair iven when Jamie would have survie or be alive . He would Loast me. Becouse he killd his next man Kid witch was close to him iven For jammie that is an low value ackt to do.
    Steph
Steph is good one to me always iven in his wrong he had more values the Moast - the real Winner
    Jason & Gem
Sadly to say been Loosers from the beginng but thats not they fould a lot drugdealers benefit of guys like these both.
    LUYRN
Tipicual ignorant female hood caracter never think of the next Moment
    LEON
Real Hero his death in Sommerhouse series was not for nothing he saved Ra nells Live - a nother whinner.
    Ra nell
From the beginng Ranell had good Heart for his Mom he try to step in for his best Frind Gem.
    Kit
Is the the male version Lauryn thats all to Say
    Chris
Duhane brothe was alyways a cind anoing to me thats all
Dwfnely moast whill say Sully is the tuff est but have been a lot of situations where iven him whould gat Smoked easly. But in iven wan it to kill Jaq after this ???
Duhane at the other Hand was to hektic and emotional the he even killd Jeffry witch coast him the Final Trouble.
