      thanks for watching! I try to edit as fast as possible, these videos take a lot of time, this month has been hectic as well. Hopefully can get one more out this month. I have to send our laptop in for repair sometime next month, hopefully it dosent effect uploading too much. Cheers!

    Lovin the videos. I picked up on the change in pronunciation of Manaray to Manta ray half way through!! Seriously though, Im jealous of just how good you are at doing Voiceovers, I struggle with mine.

      Barry, I have two friends that are on the radio and some TV. One just writes an outline for his show and the other is completely scripted, both have similar programs and both come out well. I can't do either but I have watched the process for both. If you are trying one way it may help to do the other.

      The main reason we use Shannon for voice overs is because I (Jon), Do direct her VO. It takes us some times a couple hours to get the VO right, especially when Shannon's tired. Ep.22 Is going to feature me as for the VO, because Shannon is gone this week. We shall see how I do by myself.
      Cheers

    Always enjoy your vids. Thought you'd be interested in knowing that I researched and ended up buying a Red Paddle Co board for my wife after seeing one in your videos. The advertising worked! She loves her board.

    I always look forward to your videos. You do such a good job with the narration. Would it be possible to add some maps to make it easier to follow where you are?

      Yeah, and it doesn't have to be fancy. Just place your finger onto a map or the GPS, that's all.

      Implementing maps into next episode, Cheers!

    Another good vid. How do you keep enough food onboard for these extended cruises in remote areas? It didn't seem like you guys bought much at the last grocery stop....

    • @SailingVesselPrism
      @SailingVesselPrism  8 лет назад +2

      Rice and fish go a long way! But seriously, thats how we where able to extend one months food into almost three.

  • @lindawoodall822
    @lindawoodall822 8 лет назад

    We are enjoying your videos. We have three questions. How long did it take to do a "quick" service of the main sail winch? And how did the winch sound afterward servicing?? And what does a giant pan cookie look like when it comes out of the oven???

    • @SailingVesselPrism
      @SailingVesselPrism  8 лет назад +1

      There should be now riding noise, just the crisp clinks from the the Pawls, do not oil them or they will get gummed up. Its just important that the main bearings are well greased. The Pan cooke is like a brownie, cut individuals out like a brownie, yummy.

    Love your videos. Are you north of La Paz? I've been looking at maps trying to find the towns you mention but I'm coming up short.

    • @SailingVesselPrism
      @SailingVesselPrism  8 лет назад +2

      These little anchorages are mostly points, you will need a nautical chart to find them. Google earth does a pretty good job, but some of the places have other official names rather than what they are locally known as. We are currently in Panama anchored right in front of Panama City. About to go through the canal to the Carib! Cheers!

      Is this near San Evaristo Mexico? I've taken my small sail boat to Rocky Point, and have dreams of going south someday.

  • @891alonso
    @891alonso 8 лет назад +1

    I just want to point that there is a difference between the manta rays that you see in the videos and the ones that most people or restaurants eat/serve. In spanish or at least in Mexico there is no clear distinction between Mantaray and Stingray, they are both referred as Manta or Mantarraya.

    • @SailingVesselPrism
      @SailingVesselPrism  8 лет назад +1

      Didn't know that! We saw a few pangas with dead Mantas while we we where there, not to say that restaurants are not serving round ray as well. Thanks for watching!
      Cheers!

  • @SailBeforeSunset
    @SailBeforeSunset 8 лет назад

    Question for you. Do use OpenCPN? If so, I'd love to get whatever charts you have for the Mexican coast.

    • @SailingVesselPrism
      @SailingVesselPrism  8 лет назад +1

      We do use OpenCPN, but just for generic use. We have the CM93 chart package which i believe is available pretty easily. We got ours from other cruisers. Navionics is our main chart tool now. for $50 for the iPad, it is very detailed and easy to use. It is $24 a year to continue to get updates.

    • @SailingVesselPrism
      @SailingVesselPrism  8 лет назад +1

      again, the CM93 are old and very basic, But to our knowledge and experience where pretty accurate. Sorry can't be more help. If they where smaller I would email you a set but they are 3 gigs and we are on cellular.

    • @SailBeforeSunset
      @SailBeforeSunset 8 лет назад +1

      Sailing Vessel Prism Thanks for the response. I'll check out Navionics for the iPad, and look for the CM93 charts, too.

    Have you upgraded your cam? that detail was great .......if you sail the west coast are you always at the mercy of the weather or are ther bolt holes?

    • @SailingVesselPrism
      @SailingVesselPrism  8 лет назад +1

      There are plenty of anchorages, but as we have been told from our Atlantic brethren , the pacific anchorages tend to be much more rolly. Something to get accustomed to. Like anywhere, you are always at the mercy of the weather.

    That beach is not a victim of tourist neglect, its a victim of the great garbage patch that keeps washing up on its shores. The bottom half of the Dominican Republic is just the same. Public and private beaches are cleaned daily, the rest is a garbage collection point for the ocean to clean itself.

    • @SailingVesselPrism
      @SailingVesselPrism  8 лет назад +1

      Thats what we meant by tourist neglect. With out tourists visiting this beach, no bothers to clean it up. Thanks for watching!

    • @SailingVesselPrism

      It will be 1080, youtube just needs a while until it processes it for 1080. Usually take a few minutes after it is uploaded.
