Cafe Sketch: How to Draw People Quickly🎨 Pen and Watercolors on Location

- Hi everyone, today I'm sharing with you my morning finding inspirations at a favorite cafe. I captured 3 people sitting in front of me in my sketchbook quickly and effectively. Then I sketched the shelves behind them, and using watercolors to depict the cozy interior space. Please watch the video until the end for my full process composing this sketchbook page using pen and watercolors.
🎨 Materials I used:
- Sailor's fude fountain pen
- Noodler's Brown 41 Ink (to fill the fountain pen)
- Mungyo watercolors
- Etchr Mix-Media A4 size Landscape Sketchbook
- Holbein Water Brush (large tip)
- Holbein water brush (medium tip)

I also love my Sailor fude de mannen pens, although I generally prefer the 40 degree nib over the 55 degree one. But I use smaller sketchbooks in general.

I tried the bamboo today and it was hard to control. I will try the blue one, Great images!
Yes I agree that the bamboo one is a bit harder to control compare to the blue one. But have fun trying and playing, it takes some practice to get used to these pens.

I know you have been disciplined in your practice for years.!! How did you overcome early attempts that didn't turn out well and stay positive?? Were you a prodigy and always drew as a child? Thank you! I love drawing since I could hold a pencil... for almost 30 years now and non stop. I don't think I was a prodigy but I simply enjoyed drawing and sharing with friends and family for years and years... I just threw a drawing away if it didn't turn out well and keep on creating, no negative emotions. ☺️
It would be great to show how you decide shading on coffee cups and other food items. I always get shading wrong. Like on a donut there are so many highlights and shadows everywhere

Ooh, the gooseneck phone holder is cool. I was wondering how you get the top down view in a cafe! Which one is it please? The ones I have looked at on amazon, the reviews say it's very stiff and difficult to move the neck part. How is the one you have? If you like it, please share brand and model or link? Thank you! I haven't tried Faber-Castell fountain pen yet, but their fine liner PITT artist pens are very good.
