  • Hi everyone, today I'm sharing with you my morning finding inspirations at Liberty Cafe in Mount Pleasant in Vancouver. I first sketched my coffee, breakfast sandwich and cookie. Then I captured 2 main characters and a couple people in the back, along with the cafe interior surrounding these people. Please watch the video until the end for my full process composing this sketchbook page using pen and watercolors.
    🎨 Materials I used:
    - Sailor's fude fountain pens (bamboo green and dark blue)
    - Noodler's Brown 41 Ink (to fill the fountain pen)
    - Mungyo watercolors
    - Etchr Mix-Media A4 size Landscape Sketchbook
    - Holbein Water Brush (large tip)
    - Holbein water brush (medium tip)

I totally agree with @pplsmyl, who describes your style as 'loose but detailed' - that's exactly what blows me away each time I watch your videos! Love it ❣

Hi, I've just come across your video and I'm fascinated. I've used fountain pens to write all my life (I'm 73) so I'm especially interested in the pens you're using. The ease of use and the effect you get are wonderful. Drawing with a fountain pen! I must check them out, I'm guessing the nibs are special. What do you like about them? Thanks

Is your Mungyo watercolor pallete/kit a travel size? I just bought one, but it seems as though yours looks like mine but larger. Mine has two rows of half pans and is the Sargent Art 12ct case. Doesn't the wobbliness of the tiny pans drive you nutty? It's like they're going to fall out any second. I'll likely add a magnet sticker to the bottom to keep them more secure/in place.

Yes it is a travel size palette, probably the smallest one in the art supplies market. About the size of my hand.

I'm still buying my supplies. I can't find your brand of watercolors in America. I didn't see them on Amazon or Dick Blicks Art in Seattle. Do you recommend another brand that's local? Where do you buy your watercolors? I'd love too use your favorite brand. Thanks Becky. Have a great day!

Hi Darlene, I also enjoyed using Sakura Koi watercolors, and I recommend the 24-color set. Have a lovely day!

I found and bought the 24 Mungyo watercolors set off of Amazon for only $20.00. I'm so excited to get all the supplies tomorrow. I bought the journal you recommended and the same ink pins and ink. I found the ink on Amazon for $21.00 and it arrives in a week. I bought some technical markers until the Noodlers Ink arrives and the same watercolor brushes.

Hi Becky. I have been trying the paints and brushes out before I take a class because it's been 30 years since I've used watercolors and they are so different from acrylics. I am loving the experience and want to thank you for the inspiration. I love the paint set from Mungyo and I am blown away by the paintbrushes you recommended! Wow they are a delight to use and the perfect brush. I have Rosemary brushes and these are waaaaay better and more fun to use. Maybe it's the watercolors, too. Thank you for everything. You make art fun!

Why does it seem so hard to start doing this in public? Any suggestion for begginers?

    • @BeckyCao
      @BeckyCao  5 месяцев назад +2

I started doing this in public only 2 years ago, after sketching mostly at home for like 8 years. It's better to start practicing sketching the things and views outside your home windows first, before making the big step sketching in public.

lol! I paint landscapes and it's another river, another tree, another mountain! That's what it means to be an artist. We paint the same things over and over and over again because it's so much fun and enhances our lives tremendously. Please give art a try and see how it enhances your life. God Bless!
