  • Hi everyone, today I'm sharing with you my day in first sketching on Burnaby Mountain then at a favorite cafe. It was the last day of April in 2024. Life feels more fulfilling when I record the daily small moments in sketches in a sketchbook art journal. Please watch the video until the end for my full process composing this sketchbook page using pen and watercolors.
    🎨 Materials I used:
    - Sailor's fude fountain pen (Bamboo Green)
    - Noodler's Brown 41 Ink (to fill the fountain pen)
    - Mungyo watercolors
    - Etchr Mix-Media A4 size Landscape Sketchbook
    - Holbein Water Brush (large tip)
    - Holbein water brush (medium tip)

    I am so inspired by your videos and cannot thank you enough for all the time and effort you put in to each of them to share with each of us! Living in the Puget Sound area most of my life, I so enjoy seeing the evergreens and other familiar scenes you share from BC. You make sketching look so easy and it encourages me to get out of my own head and just sketch and paint! Thank you for your encouragement and sharing your world with us. You have a much greater impact on others than you can imagine. I always smile now when you walk into a cafe...I know I'm going to enjoy some yummy goodness with you! Art therapy! Keep up the good work and enjoy our soon warming weather in your outings! BTW...I thought the lighting was just fine and didn't distract in any way!

    Thank you for sharing your experience, point of view and fearlessness. I admire your style, but it's your description of what you are observing, the reasons why you approach a technique, with a lot of theory sprinkled in that make you a great teacher! You give me inspiration.

    Dear Becky, thank you so much for your new video! ✨ I have been told that drawing with perspective is very important. But honestly, I find it incredibly difficult. It's probably because I have a terrible sense of space, and trying to put objects in perspective immediately kills my creativity.
    Do you consciously think about perspective, or does it come to you naturally as you observe things?
    Have a nice sunny day! 🌸😽

    • @BeckyCao
      @BeckyCao  3 месяца назад +1

      It took me years to practice to get better at perspective and become part of my natural instinct.☺️ My early urban sketches were not that good as today’s, it’s important to push through the beginner’s stage and never give up on trying and practicing.

      Thank you so much for your answer, Becky! 🎨🖌🌞 I tend to think I'm completely untalented if I can't get perspectives right the first time. It's ridiculous. Next time I feel like that, I'll think about your words and take every crooked and wobbly perspective as practice to learn from.

    Do you use the same watercolors if you are doing a commission that will be hung on a wall? Wondering about fading.
    Thank you. Love your art!

    • @BeckyCao
      @BeckyCao  3 месяца назад

      I use the same watercolors for commissions. How the buyer keep and display the paintings are actually the most important things. Even paintings done with highest quality paint still fade if the buyer expose the paintings to sunlight and moisture. :)

    Oh, the lighting in this video made it terrible. I found it very difficult to watch and to see what you were doing. I don’t mean to complain but other channels are conscientious about the lighting and either move locations or film at a later time. I’m sure you knew the lighting was terrible.
