- Exactly 54 years since the final steam locomotive was used on the Southern Region in regular service Merchant Navy class 35018 "British India Line" would haul a commemorative run from London Victoria to Weymouth. Travelling outward via Staines, Salisbury and Yeovil and returning via Bournemouth.
We start the day off at Andover where the Bulleid races past. Next we head to Templecombe and catch 35018 passing through the station. Next we see her at the Yeovil Railway Centre making use of the turntable in preperation for the return run from Weymouth. Next we head to Upwey and see 35018 climbing up the bank with some assistance from the diesel. After we catch the trip at Winchester and finally at West Byfleet.
Fantastic video! Well done for getting so many shots!
Thanks
What a whistle-past! Nice to see BIL on the single track and turntable too. Cheers!
Thank You
I remember that day, on my way to work in Brentford, waiting on a platform at Clapham Junction. I know I saw a southbound Bulleid Pacific pounding towards us, but I'm pretty certain it was a Spam Can. Could that be? Anyone know?
