Straps are very important. I was traveling from USA to Paris some years back and went to ABP Concept, Paris which is a leather craft atelier. I was able to have a custom strap made for my 18k Red Gold IWC DaVinci Perpetual Calendar Kurt Klaus. They had 1,000s of hides and I could pick from - as well as pick the EXACT place in the hide to cut the strap die, picking where the scales would align. I picked the shape, stitching, edge treatment, padding, and the backing/lining. 7 days later, I was able to pick it up and it was incredible. Cost was €600 and still looks amazing after 10 years!!

I will add here… I find IWC’s Santoni straps which are $800 very poor compared to the Jean Rousseau OEM straps that are 1/2 the price - so price does not always dictate quality or performance. The Santoni looks fine for a year - but then begins to fall apart. Stitching comes loose, lining cracks…

I agree. They are super stiff and get scratched super easily. No wonder why IWC stopped working with them

No link to Simione ...... please out one in. The "genuine leather" on some watch straps only refers to the backing that touches your skin. The exterior is probably plastic.... / man made "leather".....

as long as real croc, hand made. the rest a fancy tax. the stamped cow hid...no..
