Lack of plastic surgery. In Steve's case, he had white hair since he was a toddler, so you never saw white hair as shocking or old looking with him. Not that he doesn't look great for his age. But he's not somehow ageless.

What I love about Team Cocos postings: No clickbaiting! The Evlis story isn´t the last thing, that comes up...no...it´s right at the start with some other also great stories following.
I'm not really surprised by that. More the walking through Vegas with 3 concealed guns on him... Ok, I don't think he was literally walking through Vegas, but my point still stands.
You gotta remember that the swaggering Elvis was a contrivance bolstered by Col. Parker... Then, over time and with the pills, he started to merge with the character. I once ran into Richard Prior in a CVS in Atlanta around 11:00 PM one night (he was in town for a couple of shows) and I figured maybe he'd shake my hand if I didn't act too goofy. Well, he did shake my hand but his eyes said "please don't mess with me." It was a 15-second imposition that - with hindsight - I've regretted. Still, I confess, too, that I still sorta dig recounting the moment.
Conan being invisible walking with Nicholson, reminded me of Carson saying that he never wanted to fly on a plane with Bob Hope. If the plane would have crashed, the newspapers would say "Hope in plane crash!". In the tenth paragraph, "Carson was also there".
I love how Carson hated having Hope on the Tonight show because he was not an easy guest to converse with. Carson would try to lead Bob into telling a story and Hope would just reply with "isn't that something?" 🤣🤣🤣
I could watch hours of Steve, Marty, and Conan anecdoting and ripping each other. It gives me a case of the warm fuzzies, as does Conan responding to Steve enquiring whether the fountain part of the Rickles/Sinatra story was true by saying yes, it was a fountain...of acid. Followed by Steve saying "so they killed him." So funny. One comedian leaves another an opening for a killer riposte then builds on it. Fantastic!
I've seen Rickles tell the Sinatra story many times and according to Don, Sinatra loved that gag at the dinner table. Evidently, Rickles could do no wrong in the eyes of Frank as long as he kept him laughing.
That “back and forth” is what made good radio back in the O&A days, between Anthony Cumia and Jimmy Norton. Kinda vulgar often, but definitely quick witted.
Watching these guys share jokes and memories is almost like you were actually watching Jack Nickelson, Sinatra and Elvis sitting around talking about meeting Charlie Chaplin, W.C. Fields and Humphrey Bogart.
This is so special. These 3 in a room together sharing their stories. Conan's story about Jack Nicholson and what Jack said to Conan-AWESOME and Hilarious.
Standing at the urinal at the great LA DOLCE VITA restaurant in Bev Hills. Finish my business and I turn to use the sink and slightly bump someone. I say excuse me , turn and see Sinatra smile and he says "Hiya kid - remember if you shake it more than 3 times you are playin with it!". Then he stepped up to the urinal and did his business...I'll always remember that.
Shecky Greene Story: Greene had said something, either on stage or off, that Sinatra took as an insult. Franks sends some boys to teach Greene a lesson. After some punches were thrown and presumably Shecky “got” the message, Frank told them to stop. Greene used the line “Frank Sinatra saved my life” for the rest of HIS life.
I think it was a joke Shecky made about Mia Farrow (Sinatra's child bride at the time)....but anyway, I think they made up as if you watch more recent interviews with Shecky he speaks pretty well of Frank (maybe he's afraid not to??? lol).
How cool to be one of these three guys - all funny af - sitting around having a conversation making each other laugh about famous people they've met who they were in awe of, or just stories they remember hearing about other famous people. They're all great storytellers. ❤
These 3 are my all time favourite comedians. Was lucky enough to see Steve and Martin show in Glasgow in 2020, just days before pandemic stopped the world.
One of my favorite things is listening to comedians tell jokes to one another. It's fairly obvious that they all know these ones already but they still laugh to them, perhaps just out of knowing that the delivery is so good from each of them that it works. It's like applause to a great performance.
I always wonder if Conan gets things slightly “wrong” so to entice the people he interviews to correct him and dive into the conversation. He’s such a good interviewer I wouldn’t be surprised if he does that kinda thing
My prayers are with Conan's family. It must be really difficult for him to hold his tears back after losing his mother, who died 3 days after the demise of the father!! What an unimaginable loss!!
