I loved the movie too! I always wanted to know the real story and oddly couldn't ever find it. It was always the same story similar to the movie. I hope he gets full justice.
Is it against the law to deceive/outsmart a person? He signed those documents by choice, he should have read the contract first. Let this be a lesson for all. Adoption after 18 don't exist.

They took advantage of his naivety concerning the faux adoption situation like predators of every situation do with vulnerable children. He believed the Touhy family's lying words. Maybe a teenager ... an 18 year old might have not understood... but it took him until the age of 37 to figure it out? Maybe the reason he never bothered to learn had to do with the fact that the Tuohy's did in fact did everything for him like he was their own child?

Why did it take 10 years to check out the paper work. I can understand his disappointment, but waiting 10 years to pursue this. Seems kind of late.
