megaman sounded weird because the old guy was talking to megaman over a computer so his voice should have sounded like it was coming from a speaker. not as if he was in the scene itself.

If I must criticize one thing is that, you're really good at sounding like a royal pompous villain, and that kind of voice does not work well on Dr.Light.

The problem with the House of the Dead one is the dialogue really makes no sense till the last two lines, the first couple of lines don't really interlink or make sense. The delivery is fine in your improved version, but the script honestly sucks.
I think the script is supposed to be a bit lame, it just carries the old "b movie" charm it has, i know its a jit distracting, but on the same time, i cant think of house of the dead with good voice acting or lines, i think that you can do it with resident evil 1 because the script is more serious, but house of the dead is pure B movie madness
I swear to everything Holy, Brandon took one of the cringiest scenes in DMC and made it so good i had to watch it back to back thrice. He absolutely killed it.

WarmMilk when the zelda cdi poops exploded here on youtube, me and my friends started to use a lot some phrases like "MY BOI" or "Only link can defeat ganon!" (This in particular we use so much that we actually began to read our minds and say together at the same time), and is already more than 10 years talking this every time.
That improved DMC scene actually gave me goosebumps. I wasn't expecting that considering how cringe the line itself is, but damn, ya boi Brandon Mcinnis killed it.
Ever since I've heard the original "This is the final battle!" line, I still have no feasible idea of how the voice actor inflected like that... I'm not entirely convinced that a real person even voiced Goldman at all.
Right. It sounds like those really bad text to speech audio ai. Plus for some reason, through out certain parts of the lines in the og(mostly the end bits) it sounded like kermit lol.
I don't appreciate you talkin' shit about the CD-i cutscenes. They're on a level of brilliance and perfection far above anything that you could ever conceive of.
I really, really appreciate the analysis you give these clips. Hell, you go beyond that, and show them how to improve. I've been stage acting for a while, and recently tried to pick up voice acting, and hearing a lot of analysis that sounds like what my directors would give me helps give me confidence that I can still succeed in this field. My completely ignorant reactions: Devil May Cry: Definitely better without the voice crack, but still too over the top, IMO. It might just be the writing, though. Mega Man: MASSIVE improvement; my jaw actually dropped. I can really feel actual stakes. Bravo! Zelda #1: You are absolutely correct; The animation is unsalvageable. I don't think anyone is capable of hearing ANY voice acting over the sound of their own cringing. Zelda #2: Again, my jaw dropped when Mr. Saab first turned on that Ganon voice. The whole thing is a big improvement. They feel like serious characters now, instead of cartoonish villains. Especially LOVE the delivery of the creepy old guy. House of the Dead: I just love that slightly saccharine "Can't you see~?" It's so perfectly ego-maniacal! Like you said, the writing and animation is hard to get around, but the voice acting was a 1000% improvement. Wait, no, 1000% of 0 is still 0, so +1000 out of 10.
I think The Problem With The DMC one Is That Despite The New Voice Actor Saying "I Should've Been The One To Fill Your Dark Soul" With A Lot Of Grief And Some Sadness On His Voice, When He Screams "LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT" It Sounds Like a Scream Of Anger, Not Sadness

I felt the same with the voiceacting for the DMC but i think its the way that it has to be delivered given the way that the character moves. IMO it would make more sense for him to be more somber and emotional rather than yelling into the climax before scene change but i still think it's the best take out of a bad direction for that scene.
For me, It looks hard to not over act the voicing, when the characters movement (including poor computer graphics) doesn't emphasize the dialog with proper gestures. Especially when the character speaks in anger or aggression and displays little movement in hands and face. Having said that, the light that you guys cast on this project has improved it immensely! Very wholesome gents and well done!!! :)

TBH, if I was asked to voice Goldman, I would've given his voice a little hint of eccentricity to highlight an aspect of his character in that he's really into science almost to the point of insanity.
What’s amazing with voice actors is that just like singers is that you take their voice quality for granted when listening to the radio or watching a cartoon but when you see the people do it in action it’s always so captivating.
Your voice lines sound more realistic, making all those cartoon characters scarier. This may be one reason why they sound a bit quirky in the originals? - because they didn't want to scare the children too much?

I agree with this! Men have weaker moments, too, where their voice cracks. And this scene showcased that pretty well. Thought the line, while not spectacular(?) drove the point home well.
While I understand the voice crack showing a bit of humanity and weakness, the fact that the pitch basically only went up (which felt a bit unnatural) and the voice crack ECHOING make it a whole lot worse
I personally _enjoy_ voice cracks to portray emotions, and can work very well (on this channel specifically cwdawg pointed out bakugos English voice actor, who cracks his voice a lot in emotional scenes, and it sounds amazing!) But the framing of the scene they were going for fucked it up. Putting the echo and the dramatic effects made it seem like it was some deep incredible line, one that should shake you. And when a deep line like that is played with the more _shaky_ heartache than the deep heartache it feels wrong and disjointed and honestly pretty funny A line screamed like that should have a totally different vibe in the editing to match it.
It's very very veeeeeery corny! Makes the whole situation feel kinda awkward. I get it's supposed to be poetic and dramatic but feels like it's just a little too much.

I don't know why, but trying to figure out what people actually use to do their voice recording and editing has been really difficult back when I actually thought about trying to be a VA. I could not seem to find anyone who would reply to me about what equipment and software they used, and almost no tutorials or even general information on this kind of thing. I was rather disappointed at how few resources seemed to exist to even figure out how to find this information.

I've been stage acting for a while, and recently tried to pick up voice acting, and hearing a lot of analysis that sounds like what my directors would give me helps give me confidence that I can still succeed in this field. Devil May Cry: Definitely better without the voice crack, but still too over the top, IMO. It might just be the writing, though.
Mega Man: MASSIVE improvement; my jaw actually dropped. I can really feel actual stakes. Bravo!
Zelda #1: You are absolutely correct; The animation is unsalvageable. I don't think anyone is capable of hearing ANY voice acting over the sound of their own cringing.
Zelda #2: Again, my jaw dropped when Mr. Saab first turned on that Ganon voice. The whole thing is a big improvement. They feel like serious characters now, instead of cartoonish villains. Especially LOVE the delivery of the creepy old guy.
House of the Dead: I just love that slightly saccharine "Can't you see~?" It's so perfectly ego-maniacal! Like you said, the writing and animation is hard to get around, but the voice acting was a 1000% improvement. Wait, no, 1000% of 0 is still 0, so +1000 out of 10.
I think The Problem With The DMC one Is That Despite The New Voice Actor Saying "I Should've Been The One To Fill Your Dark Soul" With A Lot Of Grief And Some Sadness On His Voice, When He Screams "LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT" It Sounds Like a Scream Of Anger, Not Sadness
Next i like it tho, perhaps showing sadness in the form of anger

I felt the same with the voiceacting for the DMC but i think its the way that it has to be delivered given the way that the character moves. IMO it would make more sense for him to be more somber and emotional rather than yelling into the climax before scene change but i still think it's the best take out of a bad direction for that scene.
But the voice acting in The House of the Dead is so bad that is good, it’s like you’re fixing the acting for The Room.

The "I should have been the one to fill your dark soul with LiGhTTtTT" original part was funny to me because of his voice crack lol.
For me, it was funny because my stupid ass thought he said "LIES!!!" Like you want her to be darker? XD

Brandon's take on dante actually sounds alot like Johnny yong Bosch who voices Nero in Devil May Cry 5 (and Ichigo in Bleach)

For me, It looks hard to not over act the voicing, when the characters movement (including poor computer graphics) doesn't emphasize the dialog with proper gestures. Especially when the character speaks in anger or aggression and displays little movement in hands and face. Having said that, the light that you guys cast on this project has improved it immensely! Very wholesome gents and well done!!! :)

I think Goldman and G-Man from Half Life have similarly weird, stilted speech, the only difference being that G-Man was like that on purpose.

TBH, if I was asked to voice Goldman, I would've given his voice a little hint of eccentricity to highlight an aspect of his character in that he's really into science almost to the point of insanity.

What’s amazing with voice actors is that just like singers is that you take their voice quality for granted when listening to the radio or watching a cartoon but when you see the people do it in action it’s always so captivating.

I was just thinking about that Devil May Cry clip, and I think that the original recording fits, to be honest. The voice crack may sound funny, but it portrays Dante’s emotional state pretty well, if you ask me

I agree with this! Men have weaker moments, too, where their voice cracks. And this scene showcased that pretty well. Thought the line, while not spectacular(?) drove the point home well.

While I understand the voice crack showing a bit of humanity and weakness, the fact that the pitch basically only went up (which felt a bit unnatural) and the voice crack ECHOING make it a whole lot worse
I personally _enjoy_ voice cracks to portray emotions, and can work very well (on this channel specifically cwdawg pointed out bakugos English voice actor, who cracks his voice a lot in emotional scenes, and it sounds amazing!) But the framing of the scene they were going for fucked it up. Putting the echo and the dramatic effects made it seem like it was some deep incredible line, one that should shake you. And when a deep line like that is played with the more _shaky_ heartache than the deep heartache it feels wrong and disjointed and honestly pretty funny
A line screamed like that should have a totally different vibe in the editing to match it.

Thank you, by the way, for talking about your process and equipment. I don't know why, but trying to figure out what people actually use to do their voice recording and editing has been really difficult back when I actually thought about trying to be a VA. I could not seem to find anyone who would reply to me about what equipment and software they used, and almost no tutorials or even general information on this kind of thing. I was rather disappointed at how few resources seemed to exist to even figure out how to find this information.
