I forgot to mention, trhat I have the Diana RWS Model 34 in .177. It joins my early 1980s Beeman Webley Vulcan in .22 and a late 1970s Diana Model 6 springer pistol in .177. All perform wonderfully, the latter two having been bought used. All tried and true for pest control, plinking, and hunting. The only one I bought new was the 34.
Loved the 880 growing up. Back in the day when I was a kid, I would buy them from neighbor kids for $5 after they were stupid and kept over pumping. "If 10 is good lets try 50 pumps" and blowing out seals and such. I called Daisy got a handful of those felt seals and other parts and at age 7ish had my own airgun shop in the garage where I would fix and customize them and sell them back to the same kids later on for $20 lol. Those shrouded barrels look good when you cut them down.
Bought the 880 when i was a kid im 45 now and it's still works it was my first rifle ever, Took many games with it ,one of my favorite. Bought a newer one last year and it's still good, hanging the old one on the wall.
So glad to see the Diana 34 made the top of the list! It was my first "big" airgun purchase. Even though I have a few PCP's now, the Diana 34 still has a special place in my heart. Great video!

Tarasdad I still have my metal 880 of the early 70’s as a kid😎 bought the newer internals and rifled shot tube as a one piece and converted to fit the metal 880 shooting a 7.9 gr avg 622 fps out to 30 yrds less than a dime groups 😎👍🏾. Way back in the 80's when airgun technology wasn't anywhere close to what it is now, I owned a Daisy 880. It was light, accurate and very powerful. You could shoot both BB's and pellets with it, and I took out a lot of squirrels with it without using a scope. Just a great gun and it makes sense that it's still available today.
I can attest to the Daisy 880 as a great pest gun, I had one as a teenager and used it for countless birds, squirrels and rabbits. Today I have the modern copy and it is still very much capable of taking small game and pests.

Great pick for the Daisy 880! Don't get stuck in the gospel of 10 pumps only. Daisy tech told me it can handle more and I get great power with 25 pumps. Itis accurate, quiet and will drop anything under 20 pounds

I have the 392 with the Williams 64 & she is a tack driver out to 40 yards, also I have the Hatsan 95 in the Vortex drive in .25 Her name is Splatt-Stick & I use her to remove venomous snakes from my property & my Diana 34 in .22 is called Staldt-Jager [Steel -Hunter] and punches through mild sheet steel at 50 yards
I love the Benjamin 392 the best. I get 1inch groups at 35yards with crossman pirahna hallowpoints. Damn squirrels over there saw what happens over here and back off
Miss my Diana 34. Lost it in a house fire. Was a great gun with just a little tuning and practice. Took lots of starlings, pigeons, and rats with that rifle. Would shoot one hole at 10m from a rest. Was my first "real" airgun.
I have a Crosman Nitro Venom .22, a Diana RWS 34P .22, and last but not least, a Gamo Urban PCP. I Know the Urban requires a hand pump to fill it but that is my now go to pesting gun. Spring breakbarrel rifles are just too hold sensitive, and not accurate if the hold is not the same each time. My Urban is amazingly accurate and my successful pesting percentage has gone from about 30% to 50% with the spring rifles, to near 100% with the Urban. Nuff said.

mines is the Gamo whisper 1.77 air rifle 1300 fps with scope i use 1.77 fast flights 5.3 pellets i have took out racoons rats spiders snakes with one shot at 50 yards on the move as close up as 10 yards on the move backyard and garage mostly
I''m only familiar with #3 and #2, but I would replace #3 with the Seneca/Diana Dragonfly. I know there is a cult built up around the 392 and understandably so; it has been around and shooting reliably for years But technology moves on and Crosman/Benjamin tends to stand still while it does. The Dragonfly has the same energy with the same number of pumps as the Benjamin but adds the advantage of a magazine as well as single shot tray, far more adjustable open sights, 11mm dovetail so that you can mount a scope without that absurd barrel grip mount that Benjamin still requires despite having had 40 years to engineer and include a dovetail, and a better trigger ( I have a friend who has modified/adjusted his down to a 1.2 pound pull). As for the Hatsan, you will look for a long time to find a better made more accurate break-barrel anywhere close to the price point of that Model 95 with the Vortex Gas Piston. Just forget about the scope that Hatsan usually bundles and get a decent inexpensive scope and you will have a true pest gun that also looks great. Another good video with a real and explained top-5 list (anyone else hat those top-list reviews on RUclips with the computer generated audio??).
most of air rifle with more than 13fpe(20joules) or 1000fps with 0.177 pellets are good to pest control if you know how to aim ... and have the right pellet .
i use a jt airacuda max in 22 cal and i use jsb 18.13 grain and also use a diana chaser in 22 cal the diana has a ton of buckrail mods to it like AR grip barrel guard and an AR style adjustable butt stock for pest control
Got stung in the face by a bee entering a shed, nest was on the inside of the door...left it open, sat down at about 20 yards and started stinging them too (they didnt liked it, OSB door didnt care that much this is why pellet rifles are nice) finished the job with a water hose
The Benjamin Pump air guns hold their value. Unfortunately those 5mm pellets are now stupid expensive and hard to find. I'll probably never shoot my old silver streak again due to the lack of ammunition.
Diana 34 Classic.22 What an FPE Airgun. So how many FPS are available in 14 grain or 16 grain pellets? Which is better Diana 34 Classic and Diana 34 EMS for better hunting.
I have all these air rifles except #1 the Diana 34. I do however have a Weihrauch HW30 and HW50 and even though I never shot a Diana 34, I am willing to bet the Weihrauch's will beat the Diana hands down. The 880 has to be the cheapest, useable, air rifle for pesting anywhere. Out of the box over 600 fps, a few easy mods 700 fps. Manufacturer numbers are inflated. Nice list but a Crosman 1377, 1322, or Beeman QB78 could be inserted to take the place of one of the break barrel guns. Hard to name only 5 though. Great Vid.
Forgot. .22 is not always better. .177 has great penetration and flatter trajectory. My Crosman Nitro piston has deeper penetration than my .25 Maurauder PCP.
german made dianas are pretty good, barrels are from lothar walther and the t06 trigger is as good as the record trigger from weihrauch. the 34 has a bigger power tube than the hw50 and can be tuned down to shoot very smooth.
Where is all the single shot Gamo that out power all these for a Budget Pest Removal you have some pretty expensive guns in there and if you're going to pay that much you might as well get the Gamo 10-shot Magnum break barrel or go for an entry-level PCP
I really like the one Diana air pistol I own. The Chaser with a shoulder stock and scope is a very fun set up! I might have to get my hands on the #1 on this list.
Grab yourself a gamo wildcat whisper with some hollow point 14.5 grain pellets and take your time with your shot and aim for the brain get some time in on the rifle and I promise you you’ll be dropping all the pests you need while having fun and also all together paying under 200 bucks trust me you don’t need a wicked over powered rifle either bc when it comes down to it 1000 to 950 is a solid fps that will threw and threw most pests and plus anything 1100 fps and over still breaks the sound barrier causing the loud clap even when dealing with an air rifle and having your neighbors call the cops on you for shooting a gun that isn’t a gun sucks that’s why going for something quiet that also kicks ass is all you need as I said I’ve been using the gamo wildcat whisper for a bit now and only pests I haven’t killed have been user error gun works great and is cheap picked one up at my local gun store for 129 out the door and 500 pellets was 8 bucks it’s a 22 and works great but anyway sorry for the rant this video just made me think why the hell isn’t there an actual good rifle on here that’s relatively good priced and still preforms
Eh. I must have gotten a bad Hatsan 95. That cocking effort was close to 50 pounds on mine. My Umarex Octane was easier to cock. It was pretty accurate though. Still wouldn’t call it a great rifle though.
I understand you are listing best selling, popular choices most people would be able to afford but the only gun i would reccomend for this job in this list would be the Hatsan 95. Pest control needs to he humane, quick, clean kills. Not including a single magnum springer in this list is just wrong. I don't think shooting rabbits with a Daisy 880 is the best choice, may not even be right. These guns listed sure CAN kill something and they are affordable but they aren't "top 5 guns to deliver quick humane kill" as you describe, not by a mile. The least power i would use is 20-24j. The Hatsan 95 and the Diana 34 are ok but i would reccomend stuff like a Gamo Hunter Extreme, Diana 350, Hatsan 135, Weihrauch hw80... most of these deliver more than 40j, more than enough to deliver quick kills on pests. if you dont like magnum sized springers i would still reccomend stuff north 20j, even to kill rats. The Sig asp20 is a mid sized airgun that shoots around 30j on .22. Do you need any of these for pest control? No. Can you kill stuff with .177 pump action? Sure. But "top 5 reccomend rifles"? I would recommend at least .22 30j (24ft/lbs).
Lmao 24 ft lbs min? Daisy 880 can smoke rabbits and squirrels. It is probably the best garden defender for decades. Beyond 15 or 20 yards then reach for a higher quality air rifle.

These guns have a history of serving their owners for an incredibly low ammount of money in a plethora of tasks. From pesting to teaching your children to shoot, what's not to like? But these aren't "top 5" guns for this job. If a friend asked me what i recomend him to do such job i would probably recommend something bigger so he can shoot from further, more precisely, quickly. You can kill a rat with your boot if you want, i would still recommend else despite the price gap between a boot and a Hatsan 95. But I'm not condescending all of those who needed pest control in their lives, got their old daisies in hand and got the job done for little to no money when they needed. If i sounded disrespectful i apologize, my english is not good, i already edited my post. I think it sounded a little aggressive reading again.

I'm amazed the Americans bother much with airguns given how simple it is just to get a .22LR firearm. In the UK we are only into airguns because getting a section 1 firearms license is such a lot of aggro.
Missouri here. I have two .22LR but can't use either in the city because they're too loud. Neighbors will call the police. Need an airgun for pesky squirrels and starlings doing house damage. Neighbors are spaced far enough apart without putting anyone in danger.

daisy 880 not really suitable for humane dispatch of anything bigger than mice, note please I said humane guaranteed kill first shot, not running around screaming for ten mins while you reload for a dispatch shot.
.22 bullets are longer, so in proportion to width, they are much skinnier for size and they dont sell 60 grain .177s, most I have seen is 25 grain. Bullet speed also depends entirely on the airgun in question, regardless of bullet size, airguns top out at less than 1,500FPS usually, 1,200FPS is definitely on the extreme end for both.

I own my dads Sheridan from the 70's and it is a bull 20 cal, clear boards and is on point... love it..
A MAC1 steroid rebuild takes it to a new level. 900fps at 14 pumps. Yes they can go to 14 pumps.

Mine is a DIANA STORMRIDER gen 2 PCP. for pest control and used with a hand high pressurize air pump.
I collect them all and still going I like mostly older models why more powerful.
I killed a lot of stuff with the crosman optimus before I got my pcp

Grab yourself a gamo wildcat whisper with some hollow point 14.5 grain pellets and take your time with your shot and aim for the brain get some time in on the rifle and I promise you you’ll be dropping all the pests you need while having fun and also all together paying under 200 bucks trust me you don’t need a wicked over powered rifle either bc when it comes down to it 1000 to 950 is a solid fps that will threw and threw most pests and plus anything 1100 fps and over still breaks the sound barrier causing the loud clap even when dealing with an air rifle and having your neighbors call the cops on you for shooting a gun that isn’t a gun sucks that’s why going for something quiet that also kicks ass is all you need as I said I’ve been using the gamo wildcat whisper for a bit now and only pests I haven’t killed have been user error gun works great and is cheap picked one up at my local gun store for 129 out the door and 500 pellets was 8 bucks it’s a 22 and works great but anyway sorry for the rant this video just made me think why the hell isn’t there an actual good rifle on here that’s relatively good priced and still preforms

Eh. I must have gotten a bad Hatsan 95. That cocking effort was close to 50 pounds on mine. My Umarex Octane was easier to cock.
It was pretty accurate though. Still wouldn’t call it a great rifle though.
Chris Reilly I love my octane. Do the trigger mod, search for it on eBay... I have an AT3 red dot, springer rated and lifetime warranty for $80.

I understand you are listing best selling, popular choices most people would be able to afford but the only gun i would reccomend for this job in this list would be the Hatsan 95. Pest control needs to he humane, quick, clean kills.
Not including a single magnum springer in this list is just wrong. I don't think shooting rabbits with a Daisy 880 is the best choice, may not even be right.
These guns listed sure CAN kill something and they are affordable but they aren't "top 5 guns to deliver quick humane kill" as you describe, not by a mile.
The least power i would use is 20-24j.
The Hatsan 95 and the Diana 34 are ok but i would reccomend stuff like a Gamo Hunter Extreme, Diana 350, Hatsan 135, Weihrauch hw80... most of these deliver more than 40j, more than enough to deliver quick kills on pests.
if you dont like magnum sized springers i would still reccomend stuff north 20j, even to kill rats. The Sig asp20 is a mid sized airgun that shoots around 30j on .22.
Do you need any of these for pest control? No. Can you kill stuff with .177 pump action? Sure. But "top 5 reccomend rifles"?
I would recommend at least .22 30j (24ft/lbs).
Lmao 24 ft lbs min? Daisy 880 can smoke rabbits and squirrels. It is probably the best garden defender for decades. Beyond 15 or 20 yards then reach for a higher quality air rifle.
I'm not sure why you unwittingly decry others for using lower powered air guns when it's adequately done the job for thousands.

These guns have a history of serving their owners for an incredibly low ammount of money in a plethora of tasks. From pesting to teaching your children to shoot, what's not to like?
But these aren't "top 5" guns for this job.
If a friend asked me what i recomend him to do such job i would probably recommend something bigger so he can shoot from further, more precisely, quickly.
You can kill a rat with your boot if you want, i would still recommend else despite the price gap between a boot and a Hatsan 95.
But I'm not condescending all of those who needed pest control in their lives, got their old daisies in hand and got the job done for little to no money when they needed.

I'm amazed the Americans bother much with airguns given how simple it is just to get a .22LR firearm. In the UK we are only into airguns because getting a section 1 firearms license is such a lot of aggro.
Missouri here. I have two .22LR but can't use either in the city because they're too loud. Neighbors will call the police. Need an airgun for pesky squirrels and starlings doing house damage. Neighbors are spaced far enough apart without putting anyone in danger.
You're not supposed to fire an actual rifle within 500 ft of someone else's residence. ...and there's groundhogs in my back yard.

Now if you can close all the holes but one. Go buy some dry ice. Enough to do the job. Place the dry ice down the hole and cover that last hole. If done right. This well remove your ground hog problem.

daisy 880 not really suitable for humane dispatch of anything bigger than mice, note please I said humane guaranteed kill first shot, not running around screaming for ten mins while you reload for a dispatch shot.
My ass, Ive given coons seizures with .177s, all depends where you aim.

more energy at impact. My Hatsan .22 loaded up with Crow Magnums turns squirrel heads into pink mist.
.22 cal has more kinetic energy
.22 bullets are longer, so in proportion to width, they are much skinnier for size and they dont sell 60 grain .177s, most I have seen is 25 grain. Bullet speed also depends entirely on the airgun in question, regardless of bullet size, airguns top out at less than 1,500FPS usually, 1,200FPS is definitely on the extreme end for both.
