    What you want to do with it is put it along all baseboards and around all posts to your bed and furniture. Also put it across door entry areas vacuum every room daily ignoring the diatomaceous earth and leave it for about a month, every time you vacuum dump it and double bag it tape, the top and take it outside to the trash. Also besides using it on the baseboards and around all furniture legs you want to use a light dusting under the bed around all the cracks and crevices and put it on the frame as well. The way this works is when the bugs crawl over the Diatomaceous earth it pierces their outer parts and causes them to dry up and die. It does work very well just make sure to put it everywhere I said and vacuum daily a couple times a day if you want it doesn't hurt.

      I'm also not clear on how it's to be put down for a month and vacuuming everyday. Isn't vacuuming going to pick it up? Are we to vacuum and put down new DE everyday? If so, I'd rather use gasoline and a match. Also, what are we vacuuming and why the extreme measures for disposal?

      I used a soft cheap little paint brush to dip into the dry powder and gently applied it in a thin, nearly invisible layer. Bed bugs don't sense any danger from a little dust, and will walk on it. It slowly dries their exoskeleton and kills them. I didn't have a puffer. It looks like it does a quick job and takes a little practice to get it thin enough. Maybe a brush could spread it after you puff it too thickly.

    I just used DE in my bedroom. Hoping it works paired with the bed bug killer spray and foam i sprayed yesterday. Also got covers for my box spring and mattress and my sons toddler bed. I started getting bit up close to 2 weeks ago a few days after i got bit my son was getting bit. Didnt know what it was at first, took him to the doctor and they said it was scabies. Didnt really believe it was scabies but the same morning i got his ointment i found a live adult bed bug crawling on me. Immediately tore apart our bedroom killing every one i found i only found a few adults and a few nymphs. Next morning woke up with more bites looked again and found more nymphs and killed them sent my boyfriend to go get bed bug killer spray and foam and just today the store finally got some DE in stock said they've been selling out a lot lately. Keeping my fingers crossed itll work i feel horrible my son has been getting bit for a week now and he has so many bites he got bit worse then my boyfriend and myself 😭

      @@Gabby._tv Well it was like pest control said. I don’t have bed bugs, thankfully. But now I know how terrifying they can be. It was a case of finding tiny blood stains on my pillow, googling, and then being traumatized by the search results and going down a rabbit hole. Really it’s just that sometimes we bleed even if we don’t know we have any zits or something like that sometimes. Thing is, I couldn’t see anything on my body where it could have come from. But things happen sometimes that you can’t see.
      Also, I did have carpet beetles. So I had found a carpet beetle nest in my filing cabinet but who knows how old they were.. and TONS of their shells inside my box spring. I think my old apartment had an infestation from some old shoes that had food on them from back when I worked in a restaurant. Gross.
      Anyway. Despite all of that being behind me, I still live with the procedures. I use a lint roller on my bed and my shirts. And I still sleep with closet and hallway light on. My room is pretty lit but I still get good sleep. It’s good cuz I get spiders and this way I can see when I get up in case there are any. And maybe the light deters them. Idk.
      But I never wanna have bed bugs. I sympathize anyone who has to deal with that. But also at the end of the day, worst they can do is drink some of your blood really. They don’t typically carry diseases like ticks. So it’s nice being the superior animal. And the fact that bed bugs go into hiding. They’re complete cowards.

  • @ratoya.1885
    @ratoya.1885 2 года назад +5

    Not freeze. Heat. Hot to the point you can’t be there while it’s that hot, hence exterminators using huge tarp things to cover home while they use the machine. The heat machine costs thousands which is why the experts charge so much…So DE dusting (gotta be really determined as robin stated even if you aren’t really infested) along with the furniture covering, using industrial dryers to dry clothes and then bagging them and the best is STEAMING (bed, carpets, etc). Kills on contact because of the heat.
    All of this together is best for getting rid of them. It takes time, effort, and Im assuming therapy if you are totally infested and hate bugs because i saw 4 and got to work. My uncle worked for Orkin for most of his life and told us what to do--> It’s never one thing. You have to do all of this and guarantee they leave.
    And the bugs live in walls too. They are only known as ‘bed bugs’ because they travel to your bed when they smell CO2 which is the air we breathe in and out. They can tell when we are sleeping or not (unless they are starving and will risk coming out in day time) and then if they have a good host for feeding they will live in your bed or couch or wherever there is a body. They are actually called wall bugs because they usually travel through wall esp in apartments and hotels.
    So while you’re dusting those cracks, Make sure to dust your outlets (safely, with breaker off), the wall borders, the light flicker, shelves, etc. And steam everywhere if you can (Amazon have small and large ones or a industrial store for big ones or a company).
    If you live in an apt or hotel, they will keep moving EVENTUALLY (still takes time) and find other hosts to feed from. Which is why i took a month long vacation (I washed and dried clothes and shoes and left to my moms lol) after i did all of my treatments. It’s been about a month. Not one. I am still dusting, steaming and vacuuming because they caused me some paranoia and anxiety because if you see one bed bug then that means there are about 100+ somewhere in your home and that means there are 1000s+ of eggs.
    Steaming/ heat rid eggs which is most important. Thanks for coming to my TEDtalk lol hope I helped someone! (repost to help save someone’s sanity and research)

      I read a post on RUclips from someone whose whole family sprinkled food grade DE between their bed sheets. They all rolled around in it each night before going to sleep. It took about two weeks before there were no more bed bug bites. They didn't have any health issues. They must have been careful to not breathe the dust.
      So, yes, you can dust yourself with food grade DE. It might dry your skin a bit, but since you're not an insect with an exoskeleton, you'll be fine as long as you don't inhale the dust. Food grade won't poison you.
      This works to kill all the bed bugs because it does not matter where they hide. The only way they can get food (our blood) is to walk onto a warm human to bite without being seen.
