The issue with the technical round since the move to channel 4 is that Prue doesnt have the depth of published recipes that Mary Berry has. A producer could pick from any number of cookbooks and find something that works. It's where her loss is most felt I think.

Oooh Anne you are a genius! That makes so much sense.

This year really blooming annoyed me! Especially that outside farce! Channel 4 need to look at their challenges! Also I want to see Paul Hollywood do the pitta outbloodyside x

OUTSIDE?! I mean, I LOVE the idea, but why not earlier on, or as a whole week theme so we could see other things being made in a big stone oven... I dunno.

I absolutely agree with all your comments! The Technical was utterly ridiculous. Hardly measuring their baking skills. Such a farce. They get more and more ridiculous every year - I get that you can't really repeat Technicals so that they always come as a surprise, but there's a line, haha. That also goes for the Signatures and Showstoppers - why CAN'T they be repeated? People are allowed to practise them and we know they're not going to produce exactly the same as someone did last year. I'd rather see people make the same thing every year that's something I'd want to eat, rather than some random thing that no one's heard of!
The Showstoppers were messy. That's my main opinion on them. Rahul's glass moment was definitely the only exciting bit there.
Finally, I don't think Rahul deserved it, if, as they continue to say, it's based on that week alone. We all know he should've gone out two weeks ago when Manon left, but he was a favourite from the start. As you said, he has been great up until the past few weeks, so if they want to base the evictions/winner on their time overall, then they should. It makes more sense and is kinder than chucking someone out on one bad weekend. However, if they're going to say it's based on each individual week, they have to stick to it.
Briony was my favourite throughout so I didn't have any particular bias towards any of the finalists, but I'd say Kim-Joy "won" the Signature, and she came first in the Technical, so she really should have won.
I, like you, was underwhelmed by the final, as I have been in previous years.
Those are my thoughts! This was meant to be a brief comment.... X

Kim Joy won my heart! Rahul is a great baker, they all are (just judging by them actually knowing how to make all the stuff they have done), but he definitely fell flat the past few weeks. I do understand why Manon left the week she did as she didn't do well, but also didn't make to the brief. Therefore Rahul was kept in on a technicality. Double save would have been amazing that week though. OR DOUBLE ELIMINATION! Why didn't they save it for then. Ah well.
They could re-do loads of recipes for sure. It would be like Drag Race Snatch Game, or Project Runway Unconventional Challenge. What would be a good repeatable challenge? I would say a 3 tier cake with 3 different cakes and a merginue or choux decoration thing.

I still think Kim-Joy did better overall - she had won the first 2 bakes.
