At the grand old age of 60, the wife and I finally figured this out. Paid off ALL. debt, drive 20 year old vehicles, cook at home and learned to grow food. Turn off the TV and it is amazing how you figure out you want things, you don't need them. Good for you young man!
I retire in two weeks. I learned the same lessons about 6 years ago. Paid off the debt paid off credit cards & the car. Turned off the idiot/propaganda machine (TV) and enjoy a less hectic life. Red pilled and happier then ever in my life. Get out of the rat race and proverbial, 'keeping up with the Joneses'. Gotta go now... Ride my motorcycle to the gym. Best of luck to you and your wife!
I agree! He figured it out young! I turned off tv in my 40's and stopped going into stores as a past time, suddenly didn't need all those things they convince you you need. But it's been a process like most things, and now I am ready to downsize much more and start doing some of the things I've wanted to do even if I don't have others with the same interests. They can sit in their lives and criticize, I don't care anymore.
I totally am with you. I was making $40/hr and left my job that was making me miserable after I was there for 19 years. I spend more time with my 11 year old son now and I earn $15/hour working part time at a school but I am happy now. 😊 I also used to have brand new cars all the time. I drive a 2010 car now but have no car payment.

As an "insider", I can tell you that the American Dream involves being a wage and debt slave. I'm nearing retirement (the end of my economic incarceration) and I'm sorry I spent the healthiest years of my life chained to a desk. Keep the faith, Tim.
there's nothing wrong with the dream, it's just not for most people. if you don't see yourself marrying and starting a family settling down in a house doing the 9 to 5 until you're 70 and retiring to do cruises, the american dream isn't for you. it's not so much about giving up the dream, but rather about dreaming a better dream.
The American dream is bs. You go in debt & paying on a mortgage that may outlive you. As soon as the majority get money thinking they can now afford something the price of it went up. Forever trying to catch up if you do not have more money than the days you live. BS!!
First, congrats on making that kind of money at 22! That is something. On the other hand, all it takes is one emergency (sickness, job loss, etc.) to wipe out your gains. Happened to me at 40. That tanked my entire investment in school, health, and finances over the decades, and it irks me to think I put in so many time and hard work just to be dumped down the chute once I got sick. I'm not trying to be bleak with this comment, but to say don't give them everything (you sound like you've got a head start in knowing that up front!).
I hope you at least realize that unless you're living in certain very expensive cities, you're making a lot of money for 22. I'm making 70k at 25 and I considered that pretty crazy. But I get it, I don't want to do this shit for 40 years either.
65K per year may seem like a good amount of money, but it’s all relative to where your geographic location is. That being said, every year from the last few forward, that amount of liquidity is decreasing at a rapid rate on its purchasing power due to inflation thanks to our wonderful politicians that are diluting the money supply by unrestrained money printing. Cash currently is a liability. It’s like a big block of ice that’s melting at 15 to 20% per year currently. (The government CPI number of 1.9%-4.8% is misleading) At the rate of decline that our country is currently experiencing in many areas like, civil unrest, government overreach, attempted socialist programs, and the ever decreasing confidence of the world in our fiat global reserve currency, weakens the Dollar and brings it closer and closer to its collapse. If you haven’t already, it would be a good idea to start investing in hard assets.
@@petrolo72 yeah I’m currently investing rn, putting up about 45-60% of my income in investments. I’m worried about inflation rn. 65k is good enough for me because I don’t have any crazy overhead or responsibilities. I plan on trying to keep my overhead low for as long as I can

Tell my wife I ve keep telling her all the time. She don’t care. She said there is always one life enjoy the life trips , go out , That’s why I am broke lol
At the age of 23 I learned from a 3rd grade drop out who happens to be my father in law..... if you live within your means and live debt free and stop chasing expensive material possessions that mean nothing you’ll be a lot happier. I’m 30 now and 1000% debt free and I do what I want🙏🏽
Indeed. My parents taught me these same principles. Never being in debt if you are pay off as quickly as you can, always buy used in cash. Should you buy anything new know you are going to use it extensively. Live below your means. It's helped me in many situations in my life where I've saved up enough money to get by for emergencies always be in cash and if I did not have enough paying in installments when I had to. Had a lot of criticism especially when I've worked with others in the workforce, it's given me a safety net knowing that I I'm able to do it.
Same thing happened to me, I finally woke up at 33, quit my job, bought land and started building and growing, 6 years later, still have cc debt, but no mortgage. People mocked me at first, but now they ask me advise on how to break free. Stay true to yourself and find peace with God's creation.
"Sometimes you have to let go of 'The American Dream' to find your dream." It's time to look within and go after YOUR OWN DREAM while in this one and only life. Only you know what's best for you to make you happy.

@@WM-mu8ep So we must live poor have very little or nothing? Are we really going to be happy with nothing or always having to watch what we spend or live below our means or not being able to eat what we want? What if you want to study travel etc. We all want to be happy. You can't be happy either if you have nothing. I suppose it depends from person to person. When we stop dreaming part of us also dies. We die unfulfilled. I think one of the secrets to live is living DEBT FREE so we can enjoy life more instead of working endlessly to pay off all of our debts. We only have one life we shouldn't deprive ourselves of certain things that are even considered basics. I believe in having balance & not chasing unnecessary things but I get what his saying. A huge part of chasing the "American Dream" is remaining on top of the "financial treadmill of life". You have to keep running on that "treadmill" in order to pay for everything. I'm 62, owned a couple homes, drove nice cars,....and for decades I had to keep running in order to pay for this dream. -- I don't know how younger people these days are going to be able to keep up. The prices of EVERYTHING these days is way higher (in proportion) to what it was for me, when I was growing up. In my 30's, I was able to pay for my house, bills, taxes, car, insurance, etc., on ONE mediocre-paying job. It's almost impossible to do that these days!
At least you’re honest. Other people in your demographic and older are lying to the younger generations, saying that MORE hard work and MORE time will give them what they seek. It’s lies

A lot of men peak around 35-40, you have more time than you think. Men have all the advantages past 30 compared to women for sure, I wouldn't worry too much about things like marriage. I honestly think the best husband material actually tends to be between 35-40 and for women(for wife material) it tends to be early 20's and for women it's more about maintaining value, which is largely low body count and youth and so many young women don't realize this. By then you should be fairly sure if marriage is for you or not. That tends to be the age men really start to hit their stride too, it takes longer than young men think, especially considering how lacking in guidance young men are these days. For the most part I think most young men your age these days getting married young is a mistake, arguably marrying at all. I'm 35 now and the amount I've grown since 30 blows my mind, more than the entirety of my 20's. I can't stress enough how shocked you'd be how well top men around 35 can do with young attractive women that are marriage minded, compared to young women that want to 'have fun' all their prime, then when they're 30+ wonder why all the top older men are looking at younger women. Focus on bettering yourself, keeping up appearances, don't let yourself go, ect. You might actually reach peak physical attractiveness between 35-40 then, and have more wealth and whatnot than when you were younger, and be more of a man, it'll improve your chances of finding a young woman that wants to settle down. It takes some luck with genetics though, but it's really best to focus on becoming the best version of yourself you can until you're at least 30.
Enjoy a few years and marriage should be no earlier than 35-40 years when people are more mature, lived many experiences, travelled lot... and financially well off which is somewhat important.
@@last7509 I dont think most people can go for it these days. I dont mind as long as both the man and women are on birth control pills as the future the economy will be bad so any possible children will grow up in slave poverty so birth control pills daily atleast for the woman

I often feel like a failure, that a lot of things are out of my control and are unattainable. However, we are both lucky in that we have family that are able to support and help us. We aren’t on the streets yet. And there are things that we can focus on, control and change. We can look after our bodies, be kind to ourselves and work on changing our mindsets. Maybe it's time for the so-called American dream to be re-defined. I consider my dream to live a free/independent life without too much financial/material responsibilities. The less clutter I own the easier my life is. And better.
Exactly, chasing a rich boy's dream leads to nothing but misery. Lying to ourselves, enslaving ourselves, wasting the most precious thing we will ever have...our time, our happiness. The things you own end up owning you.
Wow, wise words and wish this was taught in schools ....cause people really don’t care what you have and achieving it makes you happy for a second, at least thats how I felt wasted and emotionally empty. When I let go I felt freer than I ever have.
I was on the grind until the age of 39. I hated it. So I calculated my finances, assumed that I would die before 80, made a budget, and ended up retiring abroad. I've visited 3 countries thus far, and will be getting my permanent residency in one of those countries soon. I'll be 41 this year and I'm happier than I could ever be!
@Sunkissed Nubian assume what? My years of life on this earth? Because I don't want to live, nor do I think I will live beyond 80. I calculated the amount necessary from my age now to the age of 80. There are other sources of revenue that are not calculated in my projections. I just used the two main sources to make my assumption (my bank account and my monthly passive income). If I live beyond 80, I have other forms if income that arrive by the time I turn 62...
@Sunkissed Nubian I visit cemeteries a lot. I'm not sure what you mean by modern but lifespans were similar 150 years ago. But I will agree. Most of what many consume is garbage.
Then, explain to me how you managed find this nugget of wisdom?. Had you followed your own advice, ...... People say life is all about moderation, I say life is most about sensibility. What isn't sensible to indulge in is just as bad in moderation as it is otherwise.
Maybe get away from their families, too. There's peace of mind starting fresh. No old ties, no old crappy memories, new state, chosen by you this time... I have the wealth to enjoy the "American dream" he's not fond of, and tbh, that's what I'm doing. Just improving the properties, especially the main one. I exercise the opposite of minimalism, lots of stuff, all neatly organized. Almost looks like a Cosco. But I didn't get it to impress people. In fact, I regularly try to hide it. It's for me. In the future, maybe it'll be for a new family that I create, something not at all like the old one I left behind.
Im from Mexico, and relate with your thoughts. I've decided years ago living my youth the way I want, without caring about others or what how the system want us to live. I live with my dog simply in the forest and way happier than ever. 😊Thank you for spreading awarness ❤😊
I'm thinking of eventually leaving the country too. But my question is what is the best jobs to take if living in a new country or how to make money while abroad?
Yes, when I quit being the General Manager of everyone’s problems around me I found I couldn’t even be in a room by myself. The walls closed in and I fell apart. That’s when life became interesting again...really scary but really fresh! Curiosity returned for the neglected person I had become. Going forward I developed my ‘project of the self’. I didn’t need to judge myself anymore because I was too busy learning about who I was. What followed was I stopped the judgements in my head about everyone else and I gave everyone a “get out of jail free card”. I have more than enough problems to solve now because I’m truly living them instead of evading them. It makes for an interesting life once again.
Amen to that! Similar situation for me as well. I heard a great saying recently regarding letting all that "American Dream" junk go, "You have to become lighter in order to fly." 🕊
@@TimothyWard Wow the complete opposite journey as you. I gave up on the dream kind of early. I see so many people with careers they hate or miserable in their relationships, and its like THIS IS A CHOICE! Do you get that? You can just say fuck it and travel the world or meet cool people and actually live a life worth living. Esp if you don't have a family, debt or commitments. You might disappoint your family or friends but trust me they'll get over it lol.
I started into the minimalist lifestyle and haven't looked back. I simply love your videos. I have found this giving up the American Dream only 3 years ago. My peace and freedom are the only things that are important now. Just me and my 3 dogs. I always joke with everyone that if I ever find someone to date, he will have to have his own RV, because I don't want to give up my me time and he definitely needs his me time too.
The American dream still exists for the more fortunate/favored few, but for most citizens the American dream is more and more unachievable and more like a bad dream/nightmare when houses on a large lot are almost impossible to purchase/rent to own, except in cheaper cities where there's few good paying jobs, unless you can work remotely and not too many get that good opportunity

The "American Dream" is an economic dream of wealth, based on conservative Right-wing beliefs. If you do some research you can see this point of view. When he talks about how society rejecting his choices when he is not inline with everyone's identification, he's not talking about the "American Dream", that is social ostracism. He in fact is living the "American Dream" even though he doesn't see it. The dream has always been the ability to be happy and successful in your own right. In this new age era, millions of people are living the same dream he is, so this thought is not a new concept
It’s a shame how the American Dream changed from being a pursuit of freedom and happiness to a pursuit of purely money. People still think the more money they have, the happier they’ll be. But in the end they find out too late
It's not even money, it's validation. Think about it most people in America with all these nice things can barely afford them and 90% of them are constantly in debt because of it. All to impress other people, they aren't even happy.
Money is great to a point but then it is never enough. I know too many guys that could be living very nice and relaxed lives on the salary they make but nope - they keep buying bigger and better toys and this forces them into the madness
Careers, Wealth, Big Houses, Kids, Boats, Vacations, Wives, Drugs, Cars, Sex etc. The Capitalist mindset. More more more it’s never enough. What is success? We all have an expiration date. It’s a lack of identity which is the biggest problem for Americans. The political ideology of Right vs Left for control is where most end up and that’s the most dangerous. It’s called the American Dream because when you wake up it was all a Dream
The dream has changed socially. 1st it was to be an independent state or country. Then it was to own a home. Which gave us the dream of land. Then they make the dream home on the land. Dude, there is no more land. Next dream is on the moon or mars. Ugh. Sooo crazy, wild and interesting times. Right now. Just my opinion. I know there are plot holes.
The American Dream was originally about freedom and individual liberty, not about acquiring and possessing things. Many people around the world are not as free as Americans. But we have twisted the term and made it about making money and having "stuff" based on what society says.
Facts many have gotten the term "American dream" confused with materialism and keeping up with the Jones and unfortunately this confusion is common in a certain segment of the population material and possession can never be a solution or source of freedom the ability to live life on your on terms

A health issue will wake you up real fast. I changed everything after my health crisis. Now, 13 years later, I'm retired, debt free and living a simple life. My spouse now has health issues and I am free to give my time to that. Relationships, love and time is what it's all about. That's the dream.
Yep most people don't even have 50-100k saved up in case of an emergency; constantly "paying off" something that either depreciates (car) or has insane interest (house). Insurance doesn't cover everything and MANY problems are caused by stress and lack of sleep.
I've lived the "American Dream" for most of my life. Worked in a job I generally liked. Married, bought her a house, adopted a wonderful child, etc. What it generally is for many men and women is sacrifice. I scrimped and saved in order to buy things and pay for things my spouse wanted. For me, those material things were largely a waste. Sacrificed happily to make my daughter's life better. Doing things my spouse wanted to do and gave up on my dreams. All life is balance, compromise, and finding what works for you and what you can give up. Your insightful and intelligent video is very entertaining and thought provoking.
I did this too but with an RV. Bought my raw land in 2009, fully paid off now with well, electric, septic. I still work but have the freedom to change on a dime.

I’m 31 and I’ve figured this out years ago, the simple life is much more rewarding! Guess what!? When you realize you don’t need expensive cars, bags, clothes, houses, and everything else you can save money and put it towards experiences. Eat well, take care of yourself, go travel, have new experiences and enjoy life!
It’s taken me finally 33 years to realize this. I’ve been slowly selling and donating a majority of my things because I realized that none of it made me happy. Finally taking a stab at the simple living and focusing on what I want. It’s a difficult process for natural people pleasers but it’s already been really rewarding.
I’m realizing this now 29 ! Being from a small country town in Louisiana made me very ambitious but now I’m questioning things like why I really want all this …I be traveling an love seeing the hills the mountains beaches oceans… having a decent bank account you can live a amazing simple life you don’t have to be wealthy or rich cause truth be told known of this real it’s just a experience we should be enjoying
Been doing this since I quit high school as a JR back in 04. I turned my back on the "American Dream" when I learned what kind of obsessive, spoiled, narcissistic brats it created in it's wake. I work hard, pay my bills and keep it simple. I don't have much to lose nor do I plan on gaining alot other than experience. I've been pretty friggin happy to be honest. I'm not doing the whole family thing yet but it may happen if it's in the cards for me but I always feel a family forces you into the "Dream".
You nailed it. Full time vanlife in a $2500 minivan for over a year now. Hiking, traveling, ect all the things I didn’t have time to do with mortage and stuck in a carrier in a zip code.
This video changed my life honestly. I'm in a weird place in my life, questioning what I really want and I'm definitely afraid of what others (family members especially) might think. This video was a sign for me to keep working towards my dream life.
I'm 33 and I feel the same, I stopped chasing. I am working to put food on the table and a roof over my head. I have stopped looking for external gratification. I am enjoying myself living in the present, eating better, Meditating, and manifesting happiness. I am not existing anymore, I am living :)
@@Rockstar-iy9re don't live on 100% of ur income, live below ur means.. I didn't say I was going bat shit crazy, I said I'm living and it could mean a lot of things.. I am blessed with a rainy day fund and have assets 😊😊 maybe should have typed it in the comment..

@Michael Pondo oooooooo......its STILL all about Trump isnt it'? Focus exclusively on trump and you won't have to pay attention to how the ENTIRE SYSTEM is robbing you blind. That is it. I am a nurse, I can take as many extra shifts as I want and make good money. I hate my profession. Listening to you I just realized That my dream is to be a farmer. I want to wake up and go outside and work in my garden and with my animals not to go to nursing home. I told my wife. She said, are you drunk again? 😀
Omgoodness, I'm literally crying at your post (not with laughter, but releasing heaviness of heart). You don't understand. As a fellow nurse, this was never my dream. This was God's dream for me. I've shared my heart with friends that I would feel so much better doing something different (teaching/leading the youth, singing background or with a group, praying/interceding for others, etc), and they don't understand. One friend has even called me self-centered because I'm "making [my life] it about me" when it's supposed to be about God. Upon my inspection, she hasn't yet been called to something she never wanted to do, doesn't have a degree, isn't working, etc. It's very easy to tell others what they are doing wrong when you don't even know the cost of my obedience to the Father. I'm trying to figure out now, how to make this life manageable for me. Because I have been losing motivation for life more and more ober the years, especially the more that I obey God. It's almost like I have terrible feeling like there's anything in it for me. I don't want to turn my back on Him, but I need something different. Thank you for your post.
At 31 I got all of the things I had wanted and realized they didn't make me even slightly happier than I was in before. The most expensive cars feel ordinary after a few months.
I feel like I’m in this stage now. I was always told to break the cycle. Black boy growing up in south Dallas in poverty. I turned 30 this year and have a nw of over $2m now. But it always feels like there is some new level to aspire to. Trying to step back from the grind mentality and just enjoy life is hard to do and honestly I feel like we are struggling with the problem of “winning the race too fast”. I think we achieved the “American dream” but it doesn’t really feel like I thought it would.
There is a book called The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, I think you should read it. Pay attention to Santiago and the drops of oil in which he was entrusted. God bless you.
Enjoy the fruits of your labor while you're still alive. So many times I saw people at my last job retire and then within a year I would get invites to their funeral service. Imagine that? Busting your ass and griding for decades only to die and hand it off to someone else.
I don't mind so much working for a living but a four-day work week and three day weekend would be so much more beneficial and make people much more productive and happy
There is good research that people are more productive at the same job if they do the same amount of work in 4 days instead of 5 . People tend to hedge their energy to survive the five days. They know they need to get it done in 4 and plan better, are more efficient, have a better attitude, come back rested, don't waste the last weekend day preparing to come back.
This makes me feel incredibly fortunate to have figured this out starting at just 21 years old. I'm about to be 28 and I may not have as much 'stuff' or 'status' as my peers, but you know what? I'm perfectly okay with that. It's not a race, and frankly, all I need is a good place to live, healthy food to eat, a decent car to drive, and time to explore my ambitions.
same man! i just turned 29. all my peers are making 6figura salary while im making less than half what they do. im in healthcare rn and it is damn stressful and i hate it. i would love to do something that makes me happy even if it does not pay well but it is very hard to make that decision when u have multiple health issues and need health insurance. if only healthcare was free or cheaper in the US, i would totally do something else even if it doesnt pay well
Come to india where 80% population doesn't even know what even health insurance is. Its your mental contruct that if only u had that u will be perfect. In reality if u will look, really look u have so many things tht people just dream of. Atleast u have food and water available. Think about middle east, and think about being a women there. Don't want to preach or something buts uts the truth
As George Carlin once said “The American dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.” And I agree with this. I went to Columbia University and I’m almost 40 and graduated back when I was 22 and realized I must not of been born to the right family when I’m still making under $50,000 and it wasn’t from a lack of trying. I’m so done with the rat race and tired of this narrative of “keeping up with the Joneses.” Love your videos man! 👍🏻
Same here. University degree. Never landed the great job. Never was able to get a Mentor. Just grinded away for twenty years at two jobs and kept trying to land that "great job". I have had enough. I'm done.
I’m currently working a high-paying job for my age and I have been moving up the ladder like the dream tells us. I’m so stressed out all the time and I wonder what I’m even working for sometimes. Starting to fantasize about being a park ranger and I happened to run across this today. Very motivating. I’m so close to saying fuck it. Kudos to you for having the balls to live your own life. You are the real winner!
If you follow the crowd, you fall into all the traps put on the main path in life. The things everyone want, cost more. You need to follow your heart but also your head and be practical.
Finding the right path is an actual challenge. Funny you said Park Ranger. I did that and the reality of the that job was not like the movies! Life is filled with paths, we tend to stick to the ones we know.
I gave up on it years ago. I am doing what I want and building “my dream” brick by brick. As long as I keep at what I’m doing and pay debt off. That’s my road to happiness.

In my thirties I went through the same thing I was working in Tokyo making good money, saving money, but I looked around at all the people trying to afford a 2 Story House and BMW that they only drive on the weekends. And I said is this what I really want for myself? Then I decided that I would like to live as debt-free as possible, to perhaps build a house on some land that I buy. And I did by chance meet someone who had the same ideas. It's so funny when you're in your thirties people think you're crazy for being Frugal and wanting to live debt-free but once you reach your 50s all those same people slide up beside you and say you were "really smart to live this way." Because everybody wants to be debt-free at least by their 50s....lol
@Jam Frost Snow have fun living in the coming New World Order and its locktight slavery for all. It will be a rude awakening from the American Dream, because the latter is not going to go on for ever. Matter of fact, it is in the process of imploding. Maybe you can't see it. Because Blindness is what happens when you seek safety and security in a material system and put your full reliance in your investments and the treacherous corporations they support. More and more evil and corruption have entered in: do you think that your continued well being will not be affected by what you have supported and allowed? We NEVER can escape reaping what we have sown. You think YOU will not have to deal with the consequences of YOUR choices in life? We are all held accountable for this. In any case, do you think the safety and security net that you have proudly constructed for your self is going to prevent Death from tapping you on your left shoulder and saying: "Your time is up. Come with me."
@Jam Frost Snow I appreciate your stated experience and your viewpoint. So thank you for your well thought out comments. However, history has extensively shown that one's home and land, whether 1 acre or 1000 acres, can be very easily stolen since the Communo-Fascist government rising to power has the intention to do that and can separate you from your private property by outright killing you, swindling you or by transporting you to a 2 room apartment that you may or may not share with another family where "you will own nothing and be happy." In either case, if there is no resistance, they will find a way to seize it for themselves. Its been done before: Read the history of Communist Governments. Read what happened to Cuban private landowners and their land when the Castro brothers and Che Guevara brought down the Government of Fulgencio Batista. Talk with former landowner refugees from the Cuban Revolution that managed to escape Cuba circa 1959. What did the Communist government of Lenin and Stalin do to the landed Peasants, the Kulaks and the Ukrainian residents and their properties in the Holodomor? How did they go about socializing private property throughout the rest of what evolved into the USSR? There are other examples from all over the world every place communism or fascism has touched down: What do you think happens to all the middle class private property owners here in the USSA being ripped off by "urban renewal" AKA gentrification programs and other sell off scams, the massive fires swallowing huge tracts of private property that will likely wind up being sold to foreign investors like the CCP for fractions of a penny on the dollar or outright seized by them for USSA debt, or the latest scam of the CDC declaring a moratorium on tenants paying rent because......wait for it.....COVID? Who do you think winds up with the property when the so called "owners'" in name only can not pay their mortgage or their property taxes thanks to the endless moratorium on behalf of the illegal squatters protected by the Government? You may have lived a very sheltered life here in the USSA up until now, and have never personally lived before under a Communist dictatorship, so you may think its some kind of joke and that it can't and won't happen here, even though it is BLATANTLY HAPPENING HERE bit by bit, and many just dont recognize it for what it is. As if there is something sacrosanct about the idea of private property here in the USSA. As if!! Just ask the former landowners here that they have already taken down...."legally" of course! All very "legal." They just haven't touched you.....YET. But they probably will. Some Americans are very naive and still place unwarranted trust in the Government by putting themselves in debt to them for the privilege of calling themselves "owners." So.........prove me wrong about any of this. I'll wait. In the meantime, check out how the current regime feels about property ownership by the middle class. They think it needs to be totally concentrated in the hands of the approved 1% elite. How do you think multiBillionaireBill Gates acquired his 500000 + acres of prime USSA farmland? Could that have been obtained from farmers driven off their land? Do you know? See what efforts are underway to sell out the country and its tangible asset of LAND any which way it can. There is no limit to the greed and corruption of these sociopaths. They are NOT your friends! Time is running out to wake up. Best wishes. Happy landings.
@Jam Frost Snowgood for you but it's not your house yet until it's paid off. The bank own that house. You and your hubby stay healthy and pay down that mortgage as quickly as you can.
I'm in the same position now. I earn way above my means, have a mortgage on my apartment, fuel efficient car, can take care of myself but single, unfulfilled, barely traveled and feel burnt out in the industry I work in. When I turned 30, I truly woke up and started wondering what I want out of life. I'm still trying to figure it out at 32. I got some hope watching this video. Thanks for putting it out there.
Since we are in the final 7 years of hell before the millenium of peace, get right with Christ, gather a year supply of food, and get ready to flee to one of Christ's goshens so you can be here for the millenium. Nothing else matters now.
It makes me so happy to see this video and to read all the comments. I think there is a big shift in how people see the American dream, especially among the younger generation. I’m a gen x and watched my parents and the rest of there generation go after the dream . Struggling to have all the things they were told you needed to be happy and successful. Somewhere along the way I decided that I wasn’t going to live that way. I was going to live the way that made me happy. Now I’m 52 , and I have lived in a tiny off grid house in the woods that I built slowly without borrowing money from a bank. I’m pretty much debt free, which gives me the flexibility to get out and enjoy my life doing what I like to do. I used to get a lot of criticism for my lifestyle, but after the whole lockdown of 2020 I get more people telling me they wish they had done done things the way I have. People ask how can we fight against this capitalist society that keeps us slaves to debt. My answer is don’t buy into this notion that you need all these material objects to be successful. Happiness is success. For me happinesses isn’t having a BMW or a big house, it’s waking up to a beautiful sunrise while camping on a remote lake here in Maine where I live. I wouldn’t have time to do that if I was straddled with debt . We are present for a big awakening and It makes me very happy to be here to see it.
Well, as your big bro, I'ma tell you, you've done right by yourself. I'm 45. I've been all over the world and back. Though I recognize that I don't own much of anything, no house, kids, etc, there are people I went to school with who are jealous of me. Jealous because they don't have the courage to do what I've chosen to do. They can't step out and travel the world or start a business and fail because they're afraid of what other people are gonna say. Everyone's life is different and it's supposed to be. Regardless of how people act or parents think, it's not a competition. Keep it up. Keep being you!
This video is so true. I’m in this place in life where I’m wondering why I’m stressing myself out 95% of the time, trying to fulfill what other people say I should want, and berating myself when I don’t make what other people consider acceptable timelines. I just want to live my life doing what I want and find acceptable.
Yeah I agree. Seems like life in the west is all about impressing others and trying to compete with each other, who has the best career, who went to college or University, who has the nicest house or car. It's honestly exhausting and toxic.
This is YOUR journey, not theirs. I heard once that we should never listen to someone else’s advice because if we fail or hate it that it was their mistake, not our own, however, If we make our own decision it was our mistakes and/or happiness, not there’s and can lead to less resentments.
Hey bro. Never seen your channel before today but that was a GREAT video. I have been telling my students this and you just echoed everything I've been saying. Well done. Life is not a formula and peer pressure doesn't end when school does. It's a life long thing and no one should be afraid to go and live their life differently. You wanna travel the world waiting tables with no assets or home ? That's fine. Don't let other people's judgement stop you living your life the way YOU want

Chasing the "American Dream" will lead to an early grave. I am not completely free, but I have paid off my debts, and live way below my means. For me I gave up the nonsense of a huge house with a trophy wife. As I've gotten older I just want a few acres to put a nice used mobile home on and get a dog and just be happy to exist.
I feel that. Although, I wouldn’t mind a female companion. She doesn’t have to be a trophy wife. Just a woman with good values, a great heart, and a woman that honors and takes care of her body. That’s getting harder to find these days though.
I’ll never forget a conversation I had with an electrician that was new in his field wiring up my Mom’s new central AC she had installed. I asked if he liked his job and he said “I have the house, the cars, the kids even though I barely get to spend time with them, but now I’m a slave to my job.” All I could say was wow and never looked at work and life the same. A conversation I was glad I had. I’m not where I want to be still but I know what I don’t want and get away from doing things I hate.

there's nothing wrong with the dream, it's just not for most people. if you don't see yourself marrying and starting a family settling down in a house doing the 9 to 5 until you're 70 and retiring to do cruises, the american dream isn't for you. it's not so much about giving up the dream, but rather about dreaming a better dream.
thank you for that pearl of wisdom my friend
👍🏿🌹👏🏾
The American dream is bs. You go in debt & paying on a mortgage that may outlive you. As soon as the majority get money thinking they can now afford something the price of it went up. Forever trying to catch up if you do not have more money than the days you live. BS!!
Omg that hits me so hard
I’m 32 and feel that my job is sucking me dry
I’m 22 earning 65k a year, and boy am I tired of this shit already. No fkn way I’m going to do this for the next 40 years. There’s just no way.
(The government CPI number of 1.9%-4.8% is misleading)
At the rate of decline that our country is currently experiencing in many areas like, civil unrest, government overreach, attempted socialist programs, and the ever decreasing confidence of the world in our fiat global reserve currency, weakens the Dollar and brings it closer and closer to its collapse.

Your father in law is a wise man, and so are you for listening to him
Smart man.. I'm talking about your father law, you sir are a great listener.

So we must live poor have very little or nothing?
It’s lies
It's terrible for young people financially. Can't afford a house let alone a family.

It takes some luck with genetics though, but it's really best to focus on becoming the best version of yourself you can until you're at least 30.
look into "lying flat" philosophy. its trending in Asia, particularly in China
Enjoy a few years and marriage should be no earlier than 35-40 years when people are more mature, lived many experiences, travelled lot... and financially well off which is somewhat important.

However, we are both lucky in that we have family that are able to support and help us. We aren’t on the streets yet. And there are things that we can focus on, control and change. We can look after our bodies, be kind to ourselves and work on changing our mindsets.
Such a society is called a plutocracy.
Never in my life have I ever needed to hear this advice more.
Thank you.
I'm only 24 and I already went off grid, own my own home and small farm, I created my own American dream, not a corporation's idea of it

you created YOUR dream! not everybody can say that
The American Dream was originally about freedom and individual liberty, not about acquiring and possessing things.

I've lived the "American Dream" for most of my life. Worked in a job I generally liked.

American Dream is for wht people. It is not for us.
I don't mind so much working for a living but a four-day work week and three day weekend would be so much more beneficial and make people much more productive and happy
This is exactly what I am working on.
3 days off sounds pretty good, though I’d want it on Wednesdays so it spaces out the time off. Too many days in a row off is not good for productivity
Yea the work week should be mon-Thurs with friday, Saturday and Sunday being the days off
There is good research that people are more productive at the same job if they do the same amount of work in 4 days instead of 5 . People tend to hedge their energy to survive the five days. They know they need to get it done in 4 and plan better, are more efficient, have a better attitude, come back rested, don't waste the last weekend day preparing to come back.

It's so funny when you're in your thirties people think you're crazy for being Frugal and wanting to live debt-free but once you reach your 50s all those same people slide up beside you and say you were "really smart to live this way." @Jam Frost Snow will you even be alive in 50-70 full of aches, live now when young and healthy is better bet?
AWESOME!!! god bless you... good karma your way,,
@Jam Frost Snow have fun living in the coming New World Order and its locktight slavery for all.
All very "legal."
They just haven't touched you.....YET. But they probably will. Some Americans are very naive and still place unwarranted trust in the Government by putting themselves in debt to them for the privilege of calling themselves "owners."
So.........prove me wrong about any of this.
People are so busy living a LIE instead of LIFE. This video is spot on brother👍.

As I've gotten older I now see why, when I was younger, people wanted to live away from people, off grid or someplace rural.
I appreciate you saying that Darryl. I agree with you 100%
This video is so true.

You wanna travel the world waiting tables with no assets or home ? That's fine. Don't let other people's judgement stop you living your life the way YOU want
I’m cooking as I listen to this video oh man I’m 29 no kids not married not a home owner my mommy blessed me with a ranch home and I have a 2016 Kia Sorento and I felt so behind in life and I never felt like that until I started watching RUclips and couples on here how much money and stuff they have and it really does distract you and the blessing that we already have when you try to live this American dream and start comparing yourself to others ya know: THANK YOU. You make a whole lot of sense. You have a new subscriber
Chasing the "American Dream" will lead to an early grave. I am not completely free, but I have paid off my debts, and live way below my means. Very low stress compared to some people I know who prisoners of their mortgages are, car payments, credit cards etc. I have a small but nice house, older nice car, all paid for, and money in the bank. No stress.
It sounds awfully like you are already living the American Dream without realizing it. 🙂
The probem is that what you think is modest and living with little is not achievable for.most
i buy most of my clothes used, i don't buy fastfood too often - bring a lunchpack myself, i look at the cost for food before buying it, and i don't purchase things that i don't need. also, you don't have to go abroad for many vacations. can just choose a cheaper option closer to home, or be with family etc..
Dont forget AmeriKKKan women(white ones especially) will bleed you dry, u will never be good enough for them unless ur the top 1% alpha male, even then no guarantees like Elon Musk 3rd divorce
As long as the money is in the bank it is not yours, put it to work you'll be even more stress free
I'm a 32 year old vagabond. Was in the military from 18-29 and never wanted to start a family while bouncing from duty station to duty station. BUT THEN I got medically retired & had no idea what to do so I hit the road. Fifteen countries so far. It's was jarring going from so much structure and guidance to literally doing whatever I want, free of any unfulfilling, obligatory responsibilities or relationships. Just me and God out here. Curious to see what becomes of America in the next few decades. Nice video homie.
USSA
Yeah you can do that because those checks are nice 😉
The American dream is dead , am 34 and been looking at these videos of simple living, minimalism etc. Am so glad to hear am not alone in my thoughts 😅. I made up my mind. Am going off grid and seeking more of a farmer type lifestyle, even if I have to give up electric am going to keep my wealth in my family!! Am with you bro 💪
This video just saved my life. I’ve been driving myself crazy and literally miserable and feeling worthless because I can’t meet the societal standards. Even in church it’s the same. Success is equated with red bottom shoes and big houses and cars. While investigating how I want to move forward after my son moves out next year I decided I want to just take some time and discover me. Thanks so much. ❤
I’m in the same boat. My child is almost 18 and I’ve been single most of his life. I’m ready for a new beginning...but not sure where to start.
thats islam
Finding happiness is a good purpose try Not to forget that not commodities ..You may find happiness in a cave , if you surprise yourself then Remember your mantra , look for your own happiness
@@jl3268putting your kids out at 18 or even thinking someone can make it out here at 18 is u setting them up for failure u brought them in this world tf u in a rush to put them out college isn’t any good at all unless they are going to make 6 figures from it people have to stay together or move off grid like the brother in the video have to stop that bs narrative when my kid leaves home they are literally going to go in debt it’s way more expensive then when y’all were coming up an yall couldn’t even do good in those eras it was cheaper to live in.
Awesome)
I grew up in CA, the pandemic happened, we got out of there. Best decision I’ve ever made, I’m in Arkansas not just living but loving life. Simple , healthy & family oriented 🙏
Why would anyone stay there if they can’t afford it. There are 49 other states
I have a family member who sold his house in CA and trying to find a nice quiet area of AK.
Think their still looking. They do both still work
Maybe they can’t be too far out
Any nice area ideas?

I hate living in liberal, woke, morally deviant east-coast USA. I would love to move to a southern state, because I like southerners. But I'm not white like the majority of southerners, and they would not like me.
For me I gave up the nonsense of a huge house with a trophy wife. As I've gotten older I just want a few acres to put a nice used mobile home on and get a dog and just be happy to exist.
How long have you been flying?? Get my private pilot license is my dream!
@SkyKing…well said.
I feel that. Although, I wouldn’t mind a female companion. She doesn’t have to be a trophy wife. Just a woman with good values, a great heart, and a woman that honors and takes care of her body. That’s getting harder to find these days though.
What happened to the trophy wife?
@@quelquun2018 a little over a year now. I don't fly alot and I'm still VFR but slowly getting time to go for IFR
The American Nightmare is much easier to attain than the American Dream 😵💫🚀
I’ll never forget a conversation I had with an electrician that was new in his field wiring up my Mom’s new central AC she had installed. I asked if he liked his job and he said “I have the house, the cars, the kids even though I barely get to spend time with them, but now I’m a slave to my job.” All I could say was wow and never looked at work and life the same. A conversation I was glad I had. I’m not where I want to be still but I know what I don’t want and get away from doing things I hate.
New age of slavery.
Slavery hasn't gone away from our world, but only acquired new forms.
And, all in the name of a bunch of masters...
The angriest mother phuckers drive the nicest trucks...those payments are EXPENSIVE meow lol
I just turned 51 and all l want is to be close to my Creator . ... Study , pray , be at peace within myself and God ... Cool video 😎 l like your honesty and mature insights !
So true I feel the same!!
Since I retired I have become hooked on silence, which helps my spiritual life a lot. It's ironic, because I put together a fairly decent amount of money so I could "do" stuff in retirement, and now all I want is silence and peace. I hate when people ask me to do things, and I love cancelled plans. Anyway, good luck on your journey.
@@jimmieoakland3843 I'm in my mid 20s and already see this kind of lifestyle in my future post-retirement. I'm saving for it, but I'm also using a lot of the money I have now to live loud and live the best life I can now so that I have something to reminisce on when I'm sitting on my porch in an a-frame cabin so deep in the Alaska wilderness I don't even have a zip code. 👌
Right On! Thank you ❤️. Blessings!
Well said. 👌
I agree with every single thing you said. Gave up on the American dream in 2013 and haven't looked back since. Thanks for making your content man, love these walk-n-talks
As George Carlin quoted. It's a dream because you'd have to be asleep to believe it.
I got tired of being lead, fed and having to beg for "success" and started landscaping in May 2019, when the pandemic hit I went full time on my own and while I still make less than I used to at my 9 to 5, I've never been happier or freer in my life and not a single day feels like work.
@@St.CrimsonTweets that’s a blessing

I saw a utube video docu about South Africans years & years...long ago left for the Congo then 1 family several went further in the bush 1 particular family after 1 year living away far fr other South Africans (away fr comfy expats), the farmed vegies in like a 33 hectar farmland & made 6X as much money than they would have in South Africa etc. sold them to the foreigners in the city... I was on a utube marathon the other day
Tim, your advice and words are life changing. Love your content!
Thank you Melissa!
Tim nails it right at the end.. "you won't believe how happy you can be chasing after your dreams and not going after society's dreams"
That’s the American dream tho 😭 chasing your dreams is the American dream it means something different to everyone there’s the basic American dream and then the real one
What this speaker is talking about is the pursuit of Happiness...in the Constitution, the American Dream!
Its not the "American dream" its the rat race, love this video
