Great job as always, but Orcrist wasn't a dwarven sword. It had nothing to do with Moria. It was crafted by the Elves of Gondolin in the First Age.

@@sharonblock9050 Orcrist was forged at exactly the same time as Glamdring so I don't think the fact that it looks like a Kopesh is right. Orcrist is Glamdrings partner blade, it's 'mate's according to the Silmarillion.
It should also have glowed blue just like Sting did, I don't remember it doing so in the films.

All of them are extremely talented in their own field. Most people underestimate how difficult a good grind is, I have an understanding of how good Matt Stagmer is at grinding as I did it for a few years when I worked as a fettler in a foundry. I was good, Matt is exceptional these days. I can see the progress he has made from the first videos they made to the newest.

@@Alucard-gt1zfummm...they even said to facilitate trade between elves and dwarves. I know this is four years late but the source they looked at stated it was dwarven iron used in the forging.

Interesting to see how they'll do the folding mechanism. One of the best swords. It's a very short blade as well, suited for an assassin.

You guys are so good at building your weapons from scratch and it does give a bit of insight into the past or blacksmith and the only difference is how fast and the tools you are using in the past they did everything by hand and I see that I love to have my own forge to see how much skills you need to build a weapon like you guys do

+rikaze Well Goblin and Orc skulls are pretty thick. So it has to be hard and sharp enough to cut through them.
It''s basically a really large khukuri. Khukuri are pretty popular right now for doing that exact thing. It could also be modeled after the Iberian(spanish) falcata.

I love how LotR weapons got a fantasy design but they are actually highly functional battleworthy weapons. Any medieval knight would be happy to have this sword, unlike most other fantasy designs. *hark* anime *hark*
Pasan Etternavn I find it interesting that a larping version of Orcrist was the only well balanced thing I could find at comic-on last year that wasn't over priced. This isn't really related to your comment at all, but honestly I do find it quite interesting. I don't expect to find anything actually usable at comic-on.

Orcrist reminds me of German Langmesser which has few variations, basically its war knife or hewing knife which certainly gives different picture for how to use it. :D

The more I watch the more I am in awe!!!!!! They have so much knowledge and skill and most important they truly enjoy and love what they do plain and simple. You guys all are incredible please don't stop doing what you guys do I would love to learn this trade and become a blacksmith always loved doing anything I can by hand.
another Star Wars build would be awesome. a lightsaber made as a real sword. Count Dooku's as a rapier, Kylo Ren's as a long sword, Darth Maul's double ended lightsaber (bonus points if you can separate it into two individual swords since that's technically how his was built)

Adrew Not Andrew yes but each side works individually, and if it was one solid handle it wouldn't have worked at all when Obi-Wan cut it. plus it's actually stated in official canon that it's two lightsabers welded together because Maul felt one wasn't enough

Actually Glamdring was actually the sword of the King of Gondolin so possibly Celebrimbor's sword before it was Gandalf (which btw his name means Staff-elf Gandalf's i mean ;p)

@@govindsnair7574 Yup, and Orcrist was possibly the sword of Ecthelion of the Fountain, and both swords were forged in Gondolin (most likely by the Smiths of the Hammer of Wrath), so I didn't really get why they went with the Moria theme. But they did great work, as always

+dog74586 That's cause Ilya is a dedicated bladesmith and armorer. He has the most experience in smithing blades and armor parts out of all the Baltimore team. That's why he features in practically every video.
i would disagree with you on the part where he has the most experience in smiting blades. Sam probably owns that title since he the lead blacksmith.ilya probally does most of the forging because Baltimore doesn't get as many armor order compared to sword orders so ilya get to do most of the awe me stuff.

Actually, a few thousand years old. This material has been popular for custom knife handles for a very long time. I have been working this and similar
materials for almost 30 years and really, although it may appear so, there is nothing casual about it. It is a fantastic material and a perfect choice for this build application.

I've always liked how REFORGED shows so much more of the actual forging processes. Not to mention the near-perpetual use of Damascus steel. Honestly, I feel it does the show and the blades the justice they deserve this way. Not to mention Ilya (badass name) is pretty much the sword boss lol the man knows his stuff!

+Prometheus D the guard for the sword is pretty funky. Its a circle connecting the handle to the blade. Swords are part of the handle. Its possible but idk if it would be a practical sword.
