Hi Lolli, I've watched "Build a Sea" a few times now, and it is indeed a sad song, but is a very beautiful song.
Lolli is doing the Johnny Cash version of this Nine Inch Nails song! Great job Lolli you really captured the feel! Roni you should react to the Johnny Cash version, I think it will make you appreciate what Lolli did on it! This was Johnny's last song, when he closed the piano, he never played it again! Johnny reworked the original so much that None Inch Nails said it's Johnny's song now!
NIN was about desperation of addiction, Cash was the regret of focus on the temporary, lolli is about the darkness that confines us and tells us we must be conformed and how even when we reach the light and freedom the eyes still have the darkness
Lolli is bloody brilliant - super smart & so very talented. Glad youve also seen her new song build a sea which came out on 9 June - also amazing!!!

I loved the great respect you paid this performance. Rare to see a reaction without a break. (Not a reflection on FVM whose job is to explain all the vocal gymnastics to the experienced as well as the uneducated like myself) I suspect we haven't seen the best of LW yet. Love her to death! Lolli is so awesome. She is such a brilliant vocal analysist. And she seems to be able to mimic any vocal sound she hears. I'm not sure there is a more knowledgeable person on all things voice...maybe Elizabeth Zharoff. Aside from that she is one of the most lovely and wonderful people on the internet.
Elizabeth told me recently she and Lolli are good friends off camera. Makes sense - they're both incredible musicians and vocal artists, and phenomenal humans in general! I agree with you - Lolli and E are on a completely different scale than most other vocal analysis channels. I'm so glad, Roni, that you reacted to this - Lolli is amazing, right?? But wait, she's done more... I suggest you react next to her performance of "Lilac Wine" - but, check it all out for sure! 🤗

She has an original called I Can't Decide that would definitely be good to check out to. Also new one dropping tomorrow called Build A Sea.
This is a great interpretation from our Lolli - I think the videography takes it to a new level. She was inspired to do her own version after reacting to Johnny Cash's incredible version which emotionally broke her I think (well worth checking out that reaction too).
Incidentally, Lolli has a new song out in a coupler of days time.
You really ought to check out another reactor/vocal coach who has recently started releasing her own material - Beth Roars. She is phenomenal too.
I love Lolli she is the best.
Absolutely love the snippet of guitar at the end. You may not be a vocal coach, but you sure make that guitar sing its heart out.
And yes, Lolli's voice is something quite remarkable, she really hits you deep. And I'm not quite capable of putting into words how versatile she is in using it and how quickly she expands her bag of tricks. Also, a good spirit, great sense of humor and one of my favorite goofballs. Highly recommend everyone to check her channels out if you enjoy music. My personal favorites are the ones where she gets introduced to the world of beatboxing, and her original song "I can't decide". Have a wonderful rest of your day, everyone!
Lolli is magnificent vocalist, analyst, musician, but an even better human being. She is generous of spirit, and totally genuine. She is starting to put out her own original music leading up to an album. "I Can't Decide" is out, and June 8, her latest music video for "Build A Sea" will come out.

I love Lolli as a reactor & a vocal coach, only. I knew she must be a good singer because she demonstrates what singers are doing in her reactions, but this is the 1st time I've seen her sing a full song or make a music video. I too am very impressed, though not a fan of the song & I agree with you, she is a true artist.

There's one hurt, if I'm ready or not-
I'd like this much more if I hadn't heard Jonny Cash's version first. Really great performance and I like her specific spin on it. But it just seems off as Jonny Cash owned it so much in his cover. But would love to hear her do more.

I have halfway second thoughts about Lollli's "sad ass" comment: "Build a Sea" is indeed a sad song, but super beautiful and beautifully done.
It's an amazing interpretation of this song. I'm not one for ranking, this is better than that, this version has an amazing quality of its own. NIN is great Johnny Cash is great and this is great all different all have their on interpretation please listen and appreciate music in the moment and not spending your time comparing rather than listening
It's a lovely cover, with a personal twist as it should be when the artists are far apart in their ethos. Lolli is not Johnny Cash nor is she passing what he was, so it makes sense to cover it in her own spirit. She is a lovely person and deserves any and all atention to her art, beyond just her vocal coaching. Yes, she is a REAL vocal coach, which I do suspect is against RUclips guidelines, but whatcha gonna do?
She really did gave it her own personality, story and interpretation to it. And it shows. And her talent and background as a vocal coach is kicking in hard on this one. Great take on a difficult song!

FairyVoiceMother did a reaction to NF's Hope without having heard any of NF's other music. Still, while she missed a number of symbolic references, such as the man from Let You Down, Cordae's choris from Mansion or the meaning of the mansion itself, she broke down how the music contributes thematically. She especially focused on the emotional impact of the dissonances, the crescendos, the harmonic resolution near the end, and other musical elements. It was brilliant.
It's not a cover of Nine inch nails, it's a cover of Johnny Cash "Hurt". But only not so convicing. If you like this - listen to Johnny Cash "Hurt" - Grammy nominated song/clip. This is ok, but way worse than Johnny. Please react to that one. If not - simply watch it. And get a tissue. It will change something in you.
Well, Johnny Cash's was a cover of Nine Inch Nails so whether you like it or not the source material is Trent Reznor's. Everyone has different interpretations of music which is fine but i find it really odd when people try and push another song onto someone in such a way as you did basically dismissing other versions just to push the one you like so you can get confirmation from someone else that the one you like is the "best". Pretty weird stuff.
ThatRoni acknowledged the Johnny Cash version, so she obviously knows it (I think she reacted but I am not certain).

I absolutely LOVE Johnny Cash's version. I know it and heard both versions of his and Nine Inch Nails. Both different, both painful.
What I love about this version (Lolli's), beside the singing, is the orchestra and build up of emotions.
I love hearing different interpretations that artists make to a song. Especially with a song that is just so so good.
