Sarasangi 27th melakarta ragam is Sowrasena in Muthuswami Dikshitar school of Carnatic music; Its just the 'Harmonic Major scale' under Western Music. Its the 3rd ragam in the 5th Chakra Bana the mnemonic name of which is Bana-Go., the scales...S R₂ G₃ M₁ P D₁ N₃ Ṡ / Ṡ N₃ D₁ P M₁ G₃ R₂ S. We can say that it is the the shuddha madhyamam equivalent of Latangi, the 63rd melakarta ragam.
I am reminded of the very popular Maharaja Swati Keerthana - "Jaya Jaya PadmanAbha Murare" sung by Dr. M..Balamuralikrishna in a concert held eleven years' back at Singapore wherein the Guru rightly controlled the rhythm in a regular and repeated pattern n did maintain the tempo superbly!!! Here the maestro's disciple Prince Rama Varma si sang ...... attempted to sing like his Guru just like that It is to be noted that in Dr.BMK's recital only Charanam 2 was sung llhere Prince Rama varmo follow suit....sang just Charanam2 only! I have listened GMB's rendition of the ame keerthanam...GNB' had sung just Charanam1 ! Prince Rama varma presented a brief but amazing swarakalpana..almost like that of Guru Dr. BMK. Excellent recital. Best wishes to Prince Rama varma . ....

This was all I was given :( The entire piece took more than an hour and a half, with the raga alapana, swarams, thani avarthanam and so on.
Varmaji has given me more thukkadas than big pieces since he hates to have them chopped up to fit the ten minute time limit in youtube.
