    Hiya Michy! Don't forget that those boards are gonna shrink at different rates in the sunlight when they start drying out, so there's gonna be all sorts of different gaps between the boards that start to emerge. I wouldn't worry about trying to make them perfect. If you're worried about big gaps showing what's behind, maybe put a vertical backer board behind them so it just shows more wood? Love watching your builds & hobbies. :)

    Michelle, think about building the side walls for your cliff-cabin using your dimensional lumber already hauled down the hill... Make the vertical 'studs' equal to the height of the floor to bottom of horizontal upper beam and subtract a top + bottom plate. If your vertical posts are 7' (84") then each wall stud would be 81" in height. You can still use the dimensional 2x4s you hauled down on this video... Just frame the wall and hoist it up and under the beam... Flush the inside plane of the wall to the inside of the upper beam OR flush the outside of the frame wall to the outside plane of the beam... Easy! You are doing great!

  • @JDPas
    @JDPas Год назад

    You can still use them for window sills and cripplers and backing. You'll need to frame in the gable walls too . If you trimmed the slider out you could have lapped the siding 3/4" . Just an idea 😉 either way for a cabin it'll look great.

    You can attach two 2"x 4" together, one vertical on edge with one horizontal to make up the 5" that you are short for your stud walls; and span them between the angled braces. That may save you some wood. Just a thought. However, you probably have solved it by now.

    Always good to see a new video of you out there 'doing it'. Given the permanent structure you might want to consider making some steps up top - a long set of stringers staked with rebar every 6-8 feet (and/or anchored to wall), and treaded with two spaced 2x4's (for snow and debris to fall thru) is a pretty simple build. - simpler in the spring, of course. And ya got a wall for a handrail

    • @DwayneShaw1
      @DwayneShaw1 Год назад

      I'm sure there are plenty of videos on making stairs (cutting stringers) - basically you divide your Rise (height) by a number (of risers) that gets you as close to between 6" - 7" as you can get (i.e. a Rise of 10 ft would be - 120" / 17 risers = 7.05 inches) - and divide your Run (length) by treads equaling between 10" -11" - then use a framing square to mark out your cuts.

    Location, location, location! Like sailing, your cliff build is all about the journey, and a beautiful one it is!
    *If enough scrap wood, I'd build a 18"-24" high stool to use for: standing, sitting, work bench, etc... my 3 cents... Great build Michelle!!👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼

    As always, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. “Acceptance is key.”
    I did not guess “peanut butter “ as the spot on your cheek. I guessed “cute spot “

    Once again showing your drive and determination to work on the cabin. Mad respect lady. Good to see Clyde nagging you. Relative to the inside walls, I believe random types would look ok bare or painted. Also might be the fastest way to cover them.
    P.S.
    The view is so breathtaking!

    Michelle, trying to get something done with all that snow does seem crazy. Your choice though. Really enjoyed seeing your progress and the beautiful surroundings as well as that incredibly active mind! Thanks for Sharing!

      Haha. Yes, but our seasons without snow are so short, and come spring every frigging project is on the list at the same time, so picking away at this over these months will help even the load out. I think. That’s my hope, anyway 🤪
