Watching from south Alabama... so this is crazy cold work for a southerner!! So thankful I found your channel. Such an inspiration to get out and build 💪
Hiya Michy! Don't forget that those boards are gonna shrink at different rates in the sunlight when they start drying out, so there's gonna be all sorts of different gaps between the boards that start to emerge. I wouldn't worry about trying to make them perfect. If you're worried about big gaps showing what's behind, maybe put a vertical backer board behind them so it just shows more wood? Love watching your builds & hobbies. :)

Yes - I do use the brake thing that Steve installed the next time I go out. Sometimes my brain is just so busy figuring everything out that I miss things! 🤷🏻♀️

You’re right. I’m part way there and have since realized I need to double up those vertical parts to frame the window. So I can still use those slightly short ones.

Hi Michelle. Cabin fever getting to you? You certainly are determind to make progress on the clift cabin. Your a crazy woman. And we all love it. Keep warm and safe. Happy New Year. G
Michelle, think about building the side walls for your cliff-cabin using your dimensional lumber already hauled down the hill... Make the vertical 'studs' equal to the height of the floor to bottom of horizontal upper beam and subtract a top + bottom plate. If your vertical posts are 7' (84") then each wall stud would be 81" in height. You can still use the dimensional 2x4s you hauled down on this video... Just frame the wall and hoist it up and under the beam... Flush the inside plane of the wall to the inside of the upper beam OR flush the outside of the frame wall to the outside plane of the beam... Easy! You are doing great!
You can still use them for window sills and cripplers and backing. You'll need to frame in the gable walls too . If you trimmed the slider out you could have lapped the siding 3/4" . Just an idea 😉 either way for a cabin it'll look great.
Hey young lady, I really appreciate the constant efforts you are making and joy this and all of your projects bring to you. I’m in commercial millwork in Chicago and all though I work in a perfectly controlled climate environment, use material standardized by the (AWI) I would much rather be building in the outdoors like your self. That is really motivating that you got out and worked on the cabin in those conditions. But every little thing you get done will add up, it will be done before you know it.
Michelle, You can attach two 2"x 4" together, one vertical on edge with one horizontal to make up the 5" that you are short for your stud walls; and span them between the angled braces. That may save you some wood. Just a thought. However, you probably have solved it by now. Cheers! Blue Skies! Faithfully, James

Always good to see a new video of you out there 'doing it'. Given the permanent structure you might want to consider making some steps up top - a long set of stringers staked with rebar every 6-8 feet (and/or anchored to wall), and treaded with two spaced 2x4's (for snow and debris to fall thru) is a pretty simple build. - simpler in the spring, of course. And ya got a wall for a handrail
I'm sure there are plenty of videos on making stairs (cutting stringers) - basically you divide your Rise (height) by a number (of risers) that gets you as close to between 6" - 7" as you can get (i.e. a Rise of 10 ft would be - 120" / 17 risers = 7.05 inches) - and divide your Run (length) by treads equaling between 10" -11" - then use a framing square to mark out your cuts.
