  • When throwing a cast net in deep water, duct tape near the weight line can help the net stay open longer. In this video, the fogies show their method for duct taping an 8-foot cast net.

If you spread the net out on the floor and tape outside first then flip over and do inside it is much easier and faster.

Awesome! That probably is an easier and faster method. Thank you for the comment!

How long would you say the tape holds up before needing to be replaced?

Great question! I'm not sure how long it'll last. But, after two years and a lot of use, it's holding up well! No signs of tape/adhesive coming loose. It also gets a soak in fresh water after each use, then it hangs in the shade to dry. We normally tear-up nets with oysters, submerged trees, rocks, etc., so it's looking like the tape might hold longer than the nets do! Thanks so much for the question and for watching!

It would depend on the quality of duct tape that you use.
