I think is pretty well known that umbrella has relations with the US government who then bargain with Leon to never tell and join with them in order to assure the wellfare of Sherry thats why in the end the only thing Leon could do is transfer knowledge about bio weapons and only that to save Sherry. And Yea Chris, Jill AND Wesker where the ones to take down umbrella.
My game would always freeze around 2:13 when Birking crashes the door. For years I belived that Leon had died in there and that the ending had everyone dead just as they were so close of surviving the Nightmare. The outro Image about the characters being all happy and smilling felt like a "what could have been but never will be" thing, like when you beat Dino Crisis 2 and it shows Dylan and his Daughter in the outro images but you know they died.
Kinda like the Mercenaries endings from RE 4 it shows Krauser surviving the explosion of the Illuminados island and on a chopper like he completed his mission and survived, but we all know that in reality he got defeated and heavily injured from Leon and then finished off by Ada. So what that image shows couldn't have happened.
Leon: It's up to us to take out Umbrella... through a legal procedure where we file a complaint through the US justice system, which will take months to process before we are finally invited to present our evidence in a court of law and be judged by a jury of our peers.
Later on: Leon will become an Government Agent. Sherry will grow up to save the world with another special person like her to save the world. Claire will finally complete her mission searching for Chris and later become involved with TerraSave. Ada Wong survives in the most unexplainable way, but becomes a spy for so many antagonists while still being the antihero.
She doesn't really survive in the most unexplainable way. She was thrown against the power console (canon "death") and "dies" holding the right side of her waist. In the epilogue files, she is shown to have survived and is shown holding a large laceration to the right side of her waist/ab. Wesker helped her survive if I remember correctly.
In Leon A, Ada dies. She fell into the pit of Umbrella. In Leon B, Ada survives. She was thrown by Mr X only and hit the self-destruct buttons. It never showed her falling off into the unknown. She also is seen throwing Leon the Rocket Launcher to finish off Super Tyrant. Therefore, Leon B was canon. In the Remake, Ada fell into her death supposedly BUT RE4 Remake showed us how she probably survived. Her Batman grappling hook.
the shot, the music and the way he says "goodbye ada" really makes me emotional, I loved the remake and haven't played the original yet but it seems like something special

Funny how they had radios (radios that amazingly worked on a undergroung facility), and yet Leon just powered the train on and was about to leave without even checking if Claire was nearby...
If my memory serves me, before Leon started the train the final countdown for the self destruct mechanism was blasted thru the lab giving him (or Claire depending on the scenario) only one choice, power up the train and hope Claire arrives in time, because he had literally no minutes to spare waiting. So in all the first part of the ending, whichever character you selected at Disc 1 is something like: One not having time to wait and the other rushing a marathon knowing that the other did not have that time.

We have to take out Umbrella" BUT, In Code Veronica, please check it VERY CAREFULLY, Claire actually chokes up and was about to cry. Claire in this one has no such expression. This further states that Claire's loss of Steve hurt her so badly, that she was about to burst out crying literally, when she was escaping with her brother, what should've been the happiest day of her life. lack of interaction of Leon/Sherry, Sherry/Ada in remake is really really bad. Capcom ruined the whole story. It reduces the tie between L/C/S, Leon is like "who the fxxk is that girl?" at the end of remake.
Sorry. Maybe if I were still a kid in the 90's, I would have liked this ending. But as I am right now...nah, I prefer the one in the remake. They both have their own charm, but I'm just not up for cheesy, 80's B-movie endings (which WAS the intentional theme of the original games) anymore.
