I will add to the other comments, which are so far all correct. Koiai is the current version of the Lisa-X band following Rina’s (vocalists) departure. Koiai is now something like 3-4 years old. They have just released their third album. Make no mistake. This is Lisa-X’s (guitarist’s) band. Lisa turned 18 in very late 2022 to very early 2023. She is yet another Japanese prodigy starting the guitar at 3 years old. Hazuki from Nemophila (guitarist), has been working with Lisa for around 7 years, or a few years before Nemophila fame. Lisa often refers to Hazuki as her older sister as she is in her very late 20’s. According to Hazuki’s official Ibanez guitar bio, she started playing at 4 years old. She was also in Disqualia. The drummer, Kanade Sato is yet another prodigy. I can’t remember all of her recognitions off the top of my head as there are far too many. She is in her early 20’s, but I can’t recall her exact age. Let me just provide a personal comparison for her. My favorite drummers include Tamu Murata (Nemophila), Haruna (Lovebites), Akane (Band-Maid), and Senri Kawaguchi (Many). IMO, Kanade rounds out my top five drummers. The current vocalist is Kotono from Iron Bunny and a short stint as a backup dancer for Babymetal as part of the Chosen 7, not to be confused with the three front women. While Koiai does not have an official bass player, Lisa’s younger brother has previously filled the position. For the last approximately 18-24 months, Wakazaemon from East of Eden and Marty Friedman’s band, not to mention countless others as a session bassist has filled in, but is not an official member. I must stop and highlight Wakazaemon and Tamu Murata’s performances together in Kurosawa’s band (I hope I got that name correct). Enjoy and please check out A New Pucture, then Come See Me. ❤️💙, ❤️🌸, ❤️🍎🍏
Kanade just turned 22 last month. She started playing drums at age 3, and at 11 entered the "Hit Like a Girl" drum competition and won the Grand Prix award. She's also currently a member of jazz fusion band Muses.
“Koiai is now something like 3-4 years old. Both bands aren’t really the same thing. Koiai is listed as having been formed in December 2022, while it has a different band name, a different RUclips channel, and other than 2 members, all the rest of the members are different as well.
Thank you for clarifying my comment. I meant Koiai is Lisa’s current project. Her previous Lisa-X band also featured Hazuki, but had Rina on vocals and other support musicians. Lisa had a nice interview that I’ll need to link about the formation of Koiai when I get the time. Thank you again
Nice reaction, the band is very good. Wakazaemon plays bass with East of Eden and Marty Friedmans band, great bassist. Hazuki still is a member of Nemophila in fact since Saki left she is the sole lead guitarist there. She has played with Lisa-X (fantastic child prodigy guitarist) for a number of years concurrently with being a member of Nemophila. Kanade Sato an other amazing Japanese drummer is still I believe a member also of Muses the group formed by guitarist Rie a.k.a. Suzuaku. There seems to be quite a bit of cross pollination in the Japanese music scene which imo is a good thimg
A band packed with the very best of the best .Think a Femail version of Toto or Steely Dan they realy can be put in the same sentence as these two .For some thing very different from them try A new picture, you will amazed .
Considering the supreme talent in this band IMHO this , while pleasant enough , is a " safe " ( but fun ) song - don't get me wrong I'm a big fan but to me this under utilises their skills . I'd really like to see them be a bit braver and do more progressive stuff like " A New Picture " rather than this easy listening . I realise it's a subjective opinion that not everyone will agree with - but that's how I feel - it's good - but 🤷♂
