Incredible. Lyrically, musically, every way. Best band ever!
I know it’s about his wife, but I’ve always imagined this as a song from a father to a daughter .
My daughter was born right when this song came out. It’s my song to her and I sing it and play for all the time!
Recently married, it was our wedding song. We now have our first born on the way, and a sign for the nursery " I'll be the banks for your river".
I'll be sure our daughter knows this
Shout out to all the engineers, etc. that recorded this. Top shelf production values in a live situation. So good, it goes unnoticed.
The simplicity of this song yet lyrically genius
My hubby and I made this our new song last fall. I had no idea the lyrics “hold you close but never hold you back” would come to mean so much as I told him to “run to our Jesus” in the last seconds of his life on Dec. 30, 2020. Miss him sooo dearly but praising God sooooooo much more that my love is eternally healed in the presence of Jesus, our Lord!

I found this song and this group by accident, while listening to Christian music by David Chowder, and this was in the mix, AND have replayed it several times over the past several days..The words, of " when you feel like you are not enough" hits me....
Your music saved us. "Hard Love" was on repeat endlessly for months and it taught me what commitment, endurance, tenacity, and living well together looked like in a season of moves, changes, and grief. Beyond grateful. Keep sharing. We are listening.
