@@legasius9358 bro what. Friderick is literally the strongest AI in the game. Sure, he progresses slowly but once he hits that economy point he is unstoppable.
Aside from the usefulness of them all, I've always found defensive towersto be very nice from an aesthetic point of view. And since I love to waste some time during missions to just give a good look to the castle and enjoy the atmosphere...I think there's a reason to build them :D
The size doesn't matter. They are all beautiful :< Always wondered if the lookout tower can be made tankier by shielding it with a wall. Or can catapults hit above wall height? Okay, reinstalling once more.....
yes, you can build walls around the lookout tower to make it tankier, and yes the projectiles can still directly hit the tower if they happen to fly higher than the walls. Doesn't matter tho. Building a lookout tower with 5 shields, 5 crossbows, 5 archers and 5 arab bows on top of them pretty much covers an entire flank. And if you build them as forward as possible, the enemy engineers will try to build their catapults within the range of the tower, so yeah. Quite a cheap way to defeat a lot of missions.
Better yet, use a Large Gatehouse to serve as both a shield and an entrance for your units. If you're only attacked from the front at flat floor level from catapults, the gatehouse has enough height to block all of them. You won't have the same luck against Trebuchets though, but good defense is better than no defense.
Huh. I never thought to actually put shields on top of towers. Didn't even occur to me that that was possible. XD But yes, I love using Lookout Towers in my castle defenses too, simply because of the sheer range boost they provide. What's more, they're so high up that horse archer shots still have a tendency to miss them, so they can defend quite easily vs massed horse archers. To help protect them, I usually also place the Lookout towers within my walls, and then put an extra layer of wall + crenallations outside. I also use Square and Round Towers in my defenses, although it's partly as much for aesthetics as it is practically. I hardly ever use Turrets unless I'm placing them for aesthetic reasons (like building a small walled outpost around my quarries or mines, complete with a small gatehouse, and the biggest Towers would just look out of place.)
Love using the lookout towers to stack a few crossbowmen and archers along with shields to basically chip away the bots. Very long range helps. Stacking units on towers is also pretty much a necessity for the extreme version of the game I think. I don't know, I'm not a pro player by any means, but I had to make a few square or round towers at the very start of the game on each level to defend against the early waves coming from bot outposts.
Watch towers are great for the first defenses you build. Then you expand the castle with thicker walls and round towers and perhaps even a third short wall to annoy the opponent... (with a trench in between). That stops assassins, torch bearers and really slows down the opponent.
I play stronghold only campaign and war path(or however that map with road with missions is called) and i think lookout tower is straight up the best. You plop one down, slow down the game speed, select groups of 5 archers and fill the tower until there's ~200-300 archers
@@Gopiciko2 Towers are actually good in single player especially in hard defensive missions, but online since people are gonna abuse the hell out of the catapults towers are generally a bad idea there
Well you ban catapults on multi anyway and if you are not tryharding you can build a wall with 10 stone towers for fun. Btw 35 stone towers are go-to if you want longer game against bots with swarms of catapults as they take less space so you can fit more ballista on fewer surface as these are 1 tile smaller
Look out tower is the best against bots hands down. That range is op I used to make them with stairs until I realized you can attach them to a small gate house and never bother with it again.
Against bot, Aesthetic matters for me. I use pretty much everything in order to fits them. Hence I don't usually overcrowd my tower. I set them in patrol. XD
tue for pvp but against bots...the watchtower does protect your archers to an insane level they are basicly invulnerable up there and you can fit dozens of them in one if you time it right. The only real downside being not having siege equipment. The 2 towers with siege equipment are both nice, but the round tower doesnt give your archers half the defense bonus of the other so thats a no brainer in my book
i always use round towers best one ever and the one that you can put catapult best for your friend enemy xD i alwasy put some towers that can hit him at maximum range
Square towers are best 👌 simply because your towers will go down anyways but at least they're cheaper lol, can fit them with mangonels and ballistae early
I've seen a video a long time ago that actually square towers are better because they give more protection for the units than round towers. Can you test it?
Square Towers are useful for the starting point since you can make Barracks and this one (+2 stone for low wall and stairs bruh) But in my opinion, towers are useful for the ballistas and magnobels lol
You forgot to mention the probability of units getting hit by arrows which is lowest for square and round tower (less than 20%, if i remember correctly) and much much better than gate houses or other towers. Still, conclusion stays the same... Round tower is more tanky and square tower the cost efficient with similar stats.
its not really cost efficient though as the square tower has less hitpoints per stone compared to the round tower. its just a little cheaper and tbh, the most important part is the balista on top against opponent siege weapons ... ^^
Wait, do the tower ballistas gave the same range on square and circle towers? I always built square towers because I thought they were taller and gave more range
Square towers are nice vs bots in maps where your bases are super close to each other - you just buy stone, build like 4squares, stack them with mangonels, target lord keep and you can just focus on economy. 10mins later you see enemy base only consists of Castle and Lord going up and down :) so on maps where you start very low on gold (2000), that 5 stone difference is nice.
Because in multiplayer (especially due to UCP allowing for faster construction of siege units) people tend to make lots of catapults, therefore you're basically playing a losing game if you try investing in towers when a group of catapults can easily melt the towers.
@@ubilava9454 UI use many melee unist, few siege, and towers with range units + ballistas are good against it. in pvp players use range unit+shields. towers go down to fast, units lose 1/2hp. but some times it can be helpful, in game 1vs1 with timer ~20min before players can recruit military
