- In this video Im going over the concept on how to turn leg locks into passes and passes into legs lock. This constant double threat will make it very difficult for your opponent to fully commit to any move without being passed or leg locked.
I love this format, and I imagine that it's one of the least work intensive for you to put out.. hoping to see a lot of roll narrations in the future!
I like these a lot more than the competitions
When you and your friend are playing the video game and both of you choose the same character.
5month white belt here. Motivating to watch someone so skilled.
Happy new year to everyone at Tristar Gym! Always makes my day to see a new narrated roll from Firas!
Thanks you! and Happy New Years to you also my friend!😊
Knee slide pass is such an excellent pass when combined with leg locks. There are just so many ways to enter different leg lock positions.
Holy shit firas is a wizard. Always admirable to see someone put that many hours into their craft to become mastery level. Osss
I like the detail of putting your hand behind your back prior to finishing the inside heel hook on the last move requiring a hip bump. Criag Jones covers this in his new instructional as well.
Please show this "cross ankle escape" in the near future :-)
Amazing video content as always.
highsoflyify will do my friend
Here is the video: ruclips.net/video/frvt96SJa58/видео.html
These video breakdowns are invaluable! Keep them coming Professor!
At 5:16 it looks like your right leg trapped his left arm too. That was sweet. Thank you for this video.
Pls show more. Zahabi has superb jujitsu, simple and exellent. Thanks from Italy.
Amazing details coach !!
These roll narrations are really good. It is so helpful for someone just to tell you what their doing or trying to do with video as it makes understanding a lot of BJJ concepts much easier. Hope to see more in the future.
My favorite videos to watch on RUclips. I always take away something. More content please!
Thanks Mister Zahabi and Tristar Gym, amazing video!
Very nice to see how you escape the double under pass, fins myself not wanting to go for triangles since its so easy to be smashed.
Great video, I loved that inside sankaku entry from the knee slide pass.
Firaz is smooth, love to watch his instructional vids
Looking forward to this kind of vids...thank you coach firas .You the best!
Amazed. Every I watch this video.
More please, narrations are much better than Technique Videos. You can not just learn how the move itself is done, also you see it applied vs a resisting partner, the timing and reactions to the resistance is so helpfull.
I hope I'll be able to come training with you guys, someday. You are great athletes and great technicians (and probably great people too). I love all of your videos.
looking forward to your visit and thank you!
Yes, please do some good defensive examples! Doing the heel hook is great, but example of defensive concepts would be awesome!!!. Like how to at least neutralize being heel hooked from compromised positions..
I see you aren't an advocate for gun control, because that knee cut set up to senkaku is loaded
Great vid firas!
Thank you!
Thanks coach
Very Helpful! Thanks to share with all us! Oss
Firas,
Who do you think will be victorious in Miocic v. Ngannou?
I'm going with Miocic because he has an elite boxing coach named Joe Delguyd (and his assistant Alex Cooper) who I believe have made him into what he is today. Delguyd has several pro boxers under his command also. Stipe works angles and footwork and hits them that way as he's very good at Octagon generalship. His defense is pretty good too. Much better than Overeems as it seems a lot of kickboxers don't block boxers attacks as well as another boxer (of course someone with better kick boxing has those brutal kicks that outshine Western boxing in some circumstances). Miocic also has a high wrestling pedigree-I just don't see Francis steamrolling Miocic like all the media thinks. There's always a chance Francis could KO him with one shot but people need to remember Stipe can do the same thing. I personally wouldn't want to bet a lot of money on this one because it's so close and all it takes is one split second error in footwork, movement, or defense for this thing to over for either one of them. If I have to pick I say Miocic though due to his greater experience, brilliant coaches (you have to remeber Ohio is also home to the Westside barbell club-innovators in strength and conditioning, there are some smart guys based in Ohio), and the fact that Miocic has more tools to work with due to his high level of wrestling. He also seems to be lucky in some of those scrambles due to his iron will and excellent agility for an athlete his size. It's a definitely a great fight to look forward to.
Got Marcelo garcias instructionals great no gi one thinking of getting duke roufuses instructional on Muay Thai none the less aren't leg locks dangerous in MMA great content as always firas
All the jiu-jitsu videos are great too Firas, but would love to see your Q&A videos come back and more stand-up videos too for the non-JJ initiated. I loved your previous Muay Thai stuff.
Yes sir will make the time soon!!
Awesome stuff!
Happy new year ! Great video. I ended up buying "becoming a supple leopard" because you recommended it in your previous videos. Good content in the book so far
thank you and to you as well glad you liked the book its will help keep you on the mats : )
Sequence from 3:20 is unreal.
Inspired, happy ny
Love the content!
Happy New Year Coach
Hi Firas, can you please make a more detailed video about all the leg drags you did in this video?
Wicked bjj. I absolutely love leg locks. Can I ask what belt rank the other guy is? And/or how long he has been training? Ohh, and who is the best leg-guy/girl you've ever rolled with? Thanks a lot. :)
great job
The what?? The Tim tem? What TF is gsp massaging himself with? And how do you get it on your back? It needs a floor or wall mount. But I want one. I'll rig something up. Oh, and nice rolling. Picked up a lot of tips
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you mean ashi garami(?) instead of sankaku? The sankaku is a triangle choke as far as I know.
Hi coach, I'd love to ask a clarification question. At 0:23 you say you have inside sankaku but your left foot is posted on your partner's hip. I always thought inside sankaku was if your foot tucked under his groin or hamstring. Can you clarify this detail and whether or not it is important? Thank you!!
Inside Senkaku just means inside triangle. So my triangle was just open but still towards the inside. Hope that clarifies.
After spinning 180° from the knee cut pass, could you continue spinning a little further and take the knee bar? Or secure control with the hook and then switch to knee if you choose?
Coach Zahabi when you do the headlock escape at the 6:00 mark, doesn't that leave you open for a Twister? Is there a detail you're doing that prevents the opponent from locking in the Twister?
I actually fumble the hold a bit and exposed my back normally I wouldn't do it the way I did in the video. This was late in practice and I was fatigued. Hopefully Ill do a video on that counter in the near future.
So a leg drag is just anytime that you simply drag the leg as opposed to an arm drag which is a very specific technique?
Leg drag in modern bjj actually refers to a position, not a technique. It's a little hard to see in this video because the rolls are so dynamic, but the best example is probably 1:26. See how Firas has dragged his opponent's right leg across his body and then inserted his own right knee into the space between the legs? That's the leg drag. Or, really, if the guy on bottom hadn't been so quick to invert, Firas would have been able to get into the leg drag in that moment.
Ok I think I understand, thank you very much.
My straight footlocks are so powerfull even brownbelts tap from it 💪🏻🤭
your baseball slide is more of a reverse slide since you spin around to it, but still very nice :)
I had a feeling my baseball analogy was a bad one ; )
epic
What Happened to DefenseTech.co????
I think its kind annoying to see this rolls with a training partner that doesn't even give some resistance
Not a baseball slide Firas. Please come visit and I'll teach you all about Murica 's pastime
LOL thanks Zach Ill see you on the diamond.
Too bad my BJJ gym doesn't do leg locks /:
