Hi Will, great video and nice job on the editing. The shots coming into Melbourne where crystal clear and the steam reflecting the city lights gave it real historic look. Just the way I remembered it when I went on Rail Trips with my father 50 years ago.

The Ballarat Tramway Museum has been exceptionally fortunate to receive $2.4million in State and Federal grants for a full reconstruction of 90% of their running line and depot yard with new rail and track foundations. This also includes extending the Museum yard to connect with the new display building, which in itself has been a long term project.
The display there is wonderful and in a great display of inter-organisational cooperation, the VR tram is from the nearby MTPA collection located in Haddon. The Geelong ‘Butterbox’ tram is a work of art. I count myself extremely fortunate to be involved with the mechanical fit out and initial of that tram in Bendigo, it is great to see it kept in such a wonderful display facility.

Hello William! That's some excellent news they're getting much important funding to keep them going! I hope one day they get the funding to extend the line, that would be amazing!
It's honestly one of the nicest displays I've come across, really well presented! I can't wait to see it all finished and operational. That's awesome to hear you got to work on that tram, it's a real beauty!

@@WillJamesRailways It certainly is! What is even better is that the 10% of track that isn’t being rebuilt now was rebuilt to the same standard in 2019 so virtually their entire network is going to be “as new” and will serve the society for decades to come. Maybe one day a lake extension will happen but consolidating their existing operation for the very long term future is a great step forward.
The Butterbox was a great job to work on and we all justifiably felt proud of it afterwards. I was the test driver for it here in Bendigo and it is a little pocket rocket! During the brake tests, it had no problem getting up to top speed before putting the brakes on to measure the stopping distance.

Still can’t help but think unless that track gets extended round the lake, that short section is never going to attract the numbers required unlike the Bendigo tram. Even a route round the gardens at the north end of the track where they seem very under utilised would be great.
