If I can ask a completely base question - what exactly do these small type "generators" do? And I'm asking in terms of around the house in case of power failure. Not that I think they will run everything, but just basic needs such as heating something to eat, etc. Thanks

Great question! These small solar-powered generators are perfect for providing backup power during an outage. While they won’t run your entire house, they’re great for powering essential items like lights, charging devices, running small appliances like a microwave or electric kettle, and even keeping a small fridge going. They’re super handy for basic needs when the power goes out. Or you can even get a compact one and use it for camping and any other outdoors activities.

@@Top.TechReview Thank you. And further - how can one learn how to safely use such as this - as in - if you have no knowledge of wattage, amps (don't know the terms) but what is safe to plug into it; how to effectively use its available power.

@@se5442 You're welcome! It’s actually pretty simple. Check the wattage of your devices (usually on a label or in the manual) and make sure it doesn’t exceed the generator’s max output. For example, a 500Wh generator can power a 100W device for about 5 hours. Most generators also have safety features to prevent overloading. However, These are just general tips-if you want to be sure, refer to the user manual and search online for terms like 'solar generator basics' for more detailed guidance. In order to be more confident and secure, please get information from more reliable pages.

I would not recomend any ehoflow since my nephew had one that started smoking and it took forever to get a replacement. They sent him a refurbished one so he went to Jackery and got a better one.

Got it, that experience with EcoFlow sounds super frustrating. It’s tough when you run into issues like that, and then the customer service isn’t helpful. Switching to Jackery sounds like a solid move. Jackery’s known for being pretty reliable and handling customer issues better.
When it comes to choosing a solar generator, here’s what I’d keep in mind:
Reliability: You want something that just works without drama.
Customer Support: If something does go wrong, you want quick, easy support.
Warranty: A good warranty is a lifesaver in case anything goes sideways.

Eco flow are crap as they use lithium instead of lifepo. Batterys and can catch fire and only have 800 cycles compared to 5000 for the lifepo

Thank you for your feedback. It's important to consider battery chemistry when evaluating solar generators. EcoFlow utilizes NCM (Nickel Cobalt Manganese) batteries, which offer higher energy density but typically have a shorter cycle life compared to LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries. LiFePO4 batteries are known for their longevity, often exceeding 2,000 cycles, and enhanced safety features, including a lower risk of thermal runaway. While NCM batteries may have a higher energy density, they generally offer fewer charge cycles and may present a higher risk of thermal events. When choosing a solar generator, it's crucial to balance factors like energy density, cycle life, and safety to meet your specific needs.
