    I am pretty sure these predator power stations do not have MPPT solar tracking for the charging circuit and probably just PWM instead. This would explains why the input Max charging voltage is so low. This is going to be a big pass for me. I guess they would be ok if your not planning on recharging it out in the field and instead just planning on charging it back up on wall power when you get home. Charging would be pretty slow with a PWM charging circuit. One of the advantages with MPPT you can have a higher voltage solar panels and still able to charge your power station even in lower light conditions.

    In the end I'm glad I built my system from discreet components. I gave power stations to my sisters for emergency use (no-name for $0.30/watt-hour!) but for my camper van I wanted lots of watt-hours. Spending enough to get more energy makes my investment high, so I like to be able to replace or upgrade the different parts of the system, rather than replacing a whole power station if, say, the inverter fails. I've already upgraded the battery, easy-peasy.

    • @triggered-u8d
      @triggered-u8d Месяц назад

      Curious what inverter/ battery/ panels you went with? I want to build my own but I think for my situation, the DJI 1000 PS makes the most sense though if anything goes wrong I not to confident with the warranty situation. They did hit honor the $200 automatic replacement package with the DJI care more bundle i bought with the Mavic pro 2. I got the runaround until literally the day it expired when they finally sent me the code I needed, which at that point it was no good. They actually mocked me in the chat. Anyway, a good solid warranty is gold but I suppose parting a system makes it less of an issue. I've researched this so much the past few months to the point there's no way of picking the best. Something has to give if you know what I mean

    I have about 10 of these lithum inverters from various manufacturers, mostly Ego, Bluetti, Ecoflow and Jackery and really like them. I also made 2 monster sized ones myself with 5KwH each to run the freezers over a week. The reason the one panel didn't come on is because you just tap the on switch, instead of holding it down (unlike Main Power) .

    • @aday1637
      @aday1637 Месяц назад

      Got you beat. I buy the failed 'all-in-one' power stations, harvest the batteries (which rarely fail) and build my own power stations and have over 20. Ebay (and other online sites) have 'for parts only' defective power stations listed most of the time. The proprietary components, when failed cause the entire unit to be worthless. And even under warranty manufacturers will claim damage caused by surge or misuse and void warranty repair. Better to abuse them back by using the batteries cramed inside. Add an inverter, bms, charge controller and you've got a power station again.

Your gonna run out power. Say you have a power outage. Fridge only. Uses probably 1500watts. In 4 hours you put 1200watts back in the unit(from solar). In 2 to 3 days. You are at zero.

    Well I went to harbor freight yesterday they only have the small one for 200 bucks I don’t want that . When are the big ones 1000 2000 watt are gonna be in stock ? I want the bigger one . I guess I’ll wait . That little one is not gonna do anything but charge your phone it’s not even big enough for a small electric heater. To me it’s a waste of $200 bucks . I rather get the 2000. For the extra juice

      @ACommenterOnRUclips Don't be so sure. We have fiber optic internet. In the past 18 months or so, we've had several power outages here on the Texas Gulf Coast. The fiber optic has not lost signal even when the local cell towers have lost power. Cell goes down every time the area loses power.
      When we power up the Arlo base station along with the wifi router, the video monitoring around the house also works.
      During the outage caused by hurricane Beryl, we had movie night every evening, complete w AC from a window unit, internet, and even popcorn thanks to our generator and solar generator, fiber optic, and gas stove.
      We also use an internet phone number to make calls and send texts even though the cell service was out.
      We added an Ecoflow River 2 to power just the wifi and Arlo, and we have smaller power banks that we bought on sale for several of the wifi mesh extenders.
      We're totally sold on fiber optic and power banks/solar generators. 80% of the time, when we've lost power, it's been during hot and humid weather. IMO, there's not a cost-effective means to run even a small window ac on battery power more than a day based on only needing to do so only once or twice a year. So we use a very fuel efficient small generator for powering a window ac unit and the fridge/freezer. We store a good bit of gas for emergencies, but I still wish we had a tri fuel generator. But based on past experiences, we should be good for a 7 to 10 day outage with what we have.

    Inverter generators are a GIMMICK and waste of $$.
    Voltage regulation is FAR more important than Inverting it from AC to DC and back to AC.
    Inverter generators have more electronics involved which means more room for failure because there is too much electronics involved.
    KISS ... keep it simple, AC generator direct to panel with Voltage regulation to prevent voltage spikes.

    • @mustangecoboosthpp3869

      Many newer electronics can't handle a standard non inverter power and will either shorten the life of the products or outright cause them to fail. Inverter generators are well worth the money. The difference between pure sine wave and modified sine wave is bigger than people think.

      Yes there is a difference between modified and pure sine wave, most gasoline generator DO produce a full sine wave.
      Cheap battery inverters produce a modified sine wave which "can" damage, but again, there is NO proof of this.
      I ran my basic old school generator for 7 days on the 1st hurricane and another 6 days on the 2nd hurricane and it ran everything in the house just fine.
      And FYI, i never mentioned Modified vs Sine wave ...
