Heather Thomas' character was actually kind of likable. She's supposed to be the hot popular girl in school but she didn't act like a snooty bitch when she interacted with 2 leading nerds, she actually gave them the time of the day. Most teenage movies would completely turn her character into a very bitchy and hatable stereotype.
I didn't know there was an original. I always said that Bella Thorne and Zendaya had such good chemistry together just like Scott Baio and Willie Aimes did. Scott Baio and Willie Aimes had really good chemistry together, so they made an entire career out of it. I was hoping Bella Thorne and Zendaya would make a career out of their chemistry too just like Scott Baio and Willie Aimes did back in the 80's. The new one stars Zendaya, but I bet Zendaya's best friend in the movie was originally supposed to be Bella Thorne. Considering they both have fantastic chemistry togther like Baio and Aimes did, it's not much of a surprise that they did a remake of a movie that starred Scott Baio and Willie Aimes.
It will all come back full circle -- although it could be years, maybe decades, from now. PC/Woke culture is repression. Historically speaking, people usually get tired of being repressed.
