  • Let's explore the Agitation Function Generator! It can be an LFO, a triggered function, or even a voltage-controllable sound source!

Great informative demonstration of the Strega Agitation Function Generator, and ways to use it.
I had an epiphany, reading one of the other comments..
I get a joy, from building patches and making noises, very similar to when I was a kid, playing with building blocks, Lego, etc.
I have fun building, enjoy the result, then knock it all down, and build again.
The journey is as much fun, as the destination :-)
To the nice folks at Make Noise, thanks very much for your fun sound making toys.
I can honestly say, I am glad I got the O-Coast, O-Control, and Strega, instead of the Serge/Buchla gear.
You have a real winner with this combination.
Best wishes for your continued success and happiness, doing what you do.

This was a helpful video. As much as I LOVE Alessandro's work, I don't want to sound like him. I want to sound like me. And this video helped me hear a lot of sounds that go beyond his usual vibe and go into different directions.

I'm not sure what gets me more excited to get into modular - creating music and sounds, or how meditative the whole process seems to be. It makes me curious about whether your brain can be in a creative and a meditative state simultaneously. Thoughts?

Definitely possible! One of the reasons why I got into modular...I find it calming even though there’s wires everywhere. I’ve fallen asleep building generative ambient patches.

It's definitely a meditative experience for me. You just get lost for hours. I record everything I do no matter if I'm learning something. Always something good that comes out.

Modulating with a combo of agitation + interference is a lot of fun. Love this little box.

Agitation to pitch but do it subtly

Set the agitation generator to audio rate, patch it to audio in, turn up the strength if desired for distortion, and patch it to activation for AM. Take the top row voltage from 0ctrl to the tonic pitch, and the bottom row to the agitation generator pitch. mix the AG audio in as desired.

I get it, but I truly think it's one of the best Make Noise instruments they've ever created-and I own them all, haha! I understand if the noisier videos turn people away, but if you put headphones on and just start let the Strega come to life, it blooms into something extraordinary. It's not cheap, but I don't think I could ever part with it. I honestly haven't touched hardly anything else since I got it, haha!
