  • Unicycled around Montgommery Bell State Park and found a MASSIVE Poplar tree on a super steep hill. Rope swinging and tree hammocking ensued.

I've been climbing for a while but never realized how much fun I can have with the trees on my property. I've got an almost 200 foot tall Maple and old cedars, hemlocks and firs. I'm building a rope swing this weekend in my back yard. Thanks man.

Hey :) you are inspiring. Can you make a Video where you show what gear and technique you are using?
    Greetings

Gnominus I try to intersperse techniques and tips into most of my videos so that I’m not lecturing on a whole video. I give a lot of tips in my 100 ft+ video!

Love these videos :-) - a gear video would be awesome, or like a beginners guide - saw treefools videos, but i don't even know what a grigri does at this point in time haha :-) Do you ever use a moquito net for the hammock?

Thomas Vilhelmsen indeed a do! I use it in a couple of my videos on my channel. I am hoping to get back to some tree camping overnighters soon!!! It’s rained almost every other day here the last few weeks, and I’m working full time and extra jobs after that. Just haven’t had good weather and opportunities to do it. I’m dying to get back to the treetops. I’ll try to do a gear load out vid!

You are a hardworking dude! - Cool looking forward - :-) Thank you for responding!
In the meantime am i right about if this is the bare minimum climbing equipment?
      -throwline + something throwable (stick)
      -rope
      -grigri,
      -2 or 3 locking carabiners,
      -footloop,
      -prosaic rope or handacender,
      -climbing harness
      ??

Tree Camps I have so much footage, but my computer crapped out on me again so I haven’t got the means to produce new ones! It’s been annoying.

When you're planning on tree camping. What's a good length rope to have? I want a long enough rope but also light enough for a descent amount of trailing. 150ft or 200ft ? Thanks tree friends

    • @sirenhead1854
      @sirenhead1854 4 года назад

Youd want something like 150ft (46m) that's the average. I reccomend the sterling htp 9mm. It's an extremely good rope.

What makes for a good climbing tree?

    • @TheTreeCamper

It is really up to the person climbing. I love SUUUUUPER tall trees, and ones with huge spreads like this one had. It really depends on my mood that day.
