She was in shock, and denial and alongside that grief. Grief can do SO much to a person, make them do all sorts of things. If this was real then they should’ve given her some light sedative/medication to calm her and allow her to grieve and have a nurse/therapist with her to monitor her.
That mobile phone! Jesus! I was 8 when this aired, I barely remember it but watching it back the moment it hits her I remember that. The build up to it is so eerily calm and quiet. Can’t believe it’s 21 years ago
It's sad that Alison couldn't cope with the loss of her baby. She had it in her head that no one will care about what she went through after taking baby Bethany as they'll think she was crazy. It's also sad that she would rather die than be locked up after giving Bethany up. People need to more aware that people with depression need help otherwise they'll end up the same way as Alison.
The hospital was way under staffed, and why was she even kept on the same floor with the mothers and life babies. That would be torture. They did not even give her a sleeping pill. If they had done that this would not have happened.
Even now some hospitals do that. I had a baby at 30 weeks and they originally put me in a room with a woman who was still pregnant who let her kids run wild and blast the tv, whining the whole time about being uncomfortable. My family spoke up and said I needed my own room and that woman needed her kids to leave. It was horrifying enough without listening to a mom complain about what you’d give anything to still have.
I saw these episodes of the baby's death and the aftermath so many times when it was broadcast I had an operation around that time and the only thing I could do was rest so saw every repeat etc just to do something. The 11 year old me was really creeped out by the lack of end music on the credits on those episodes as they very rarely did that at the time and it stuck with me more than most episodes.
I remember feeling the same when Eastenders' Pat died. I'd only just gotten into soaps, so I'd never seen an episode without the end music and felt shook (I think that's the word).

Stillbirths are so well done in soaps this is truly how it feels (minus stealing a baby, took me two years to even hold another a baby) but they really get the grief part of it.

Then they switch on the acting face and play some downtrodden character, and people think they are really like that. They certainly are nothing like that, they are acting. Think of Rita whose daughter got arrested in real life for drink driving, she drove drunk herself down to the police station and demanded her daughter be let off. She was warned herself to stop with the threats and not drive herself, she stormed out of the police station and attempted to drive off, the police then arrested her. She then employed a lawyer who charges £10,000 a day ' the same one Clarkson used and spent 80 grand on to get off of a speeding ticket'.. Yes they think money can buy them out of anything, and in most cases it does. So before you feel sorry for them, just remember than if it were you and them on a sinking ship, money would make sure they were on the first lifeboats and yourself and kids would probably be swimming/ drowning.
I don’t care if Alison was grieving or not kidnap is never okay and bad mouthing a kid over her parenting is not acceptable nobody is perfect when it comes to parenting
