Thanks for watching!
Man, the NSX embodies everything that we've lost in automotive design since the 90's.
It took just enough from cars that came before it without being completely derivative. It's a classic - an original. Definitely in my top 5 list of greatest production cars.
It was a one off bro, nothing about that car was from the average man's car
I am glad the pop up headlights stopped existing though.
The only thing that’s not perfect about the first gen NSX is the price…
How much it cost back in the day and now?
@@neometalx9 before was like $50k, now is like $100k
blame yourself and people like you for the price increase Lol..
Ten years ago you could get one up here in Canada for 25-30k
Not long ago you could pick em up all day in the $2x,000 range
This is what dreams are made of. NSX in a canyon with no cops and sunny blue skies.
Yeah but Cincinnati Bengals bus go whhaaaalllyum
Of course i think it's the dream of every men in the world
Every state in USA has its fun road. Got to get out of the city
@@joebezslu yep i live in new hampshire and were out here driving 8 minute roads (if u go the speed limit) in 2 and a half lol
@@Scotty-vs4lf defund traffic police
That route was epic. This NSX seems like the most connected one could be with a car. You were hustling and it sounds amazing on surround sound. I didn't think it would be so approachable. I'd be scared poopless to hit the corners with no guardrails lol,
Love the santa monica mountains, it just flows from one canyon road to the next. Pure fun whether in a fun car or a motorcycle
@@flush_entity I took the same route on a 1 wheel, spectacular.
Its a shame that Honda stupidly dropped everything og NSX did with 2nd gen. Just after axing S2k aswell...
@@fishmonger3796 What route is this?
@@Cardiakkroute 66 ..
This thing drives like it has more than 270 HP
What a beast of a machine.
the straight line acceleration is actually sluggish if you look at the speedo, but the sound is intoxicating and a blast to drive regardless of the power.
It's lightweight
@@basslover352 It's the long gearing this car comes with.
@@basslover352 exactly. Fun to drive doesn’t mean the fastest car on the road
@@leslie7872 For sure, it's hard to keep it in that 6-8k range where it really starts to get going.
we all know TheTopher can drive but this is by far the most thrilling street driving you’ve shown on camera! the sense of speed is incredible! great video & loved the conversation aspect as well!
Actually i thought the exact same thing. This is his best driving so far
The NSX was one of my dream cars, along with the MR2, RX7, and S2000. When I was in high school around 2007 these NSXs were $25-30K for clean low mileage examples. Unfortunately they just kept being slightly out of reach for me, even as I earned more over the years.
thats the sad part. Had to settle for a civic Si for my first car with a 'real' job as the S2k was just slightly out of reach. income has almost tripled and now I can buy... another Civic si LOL can't complain still happy :D
@@Pete0126 Why are people sleeping on Corvettes which are dirt cheap and way faster than any of those cars...?
@@Itsjamilagain because we don't want shitty fiberglass v8 boats
@@nb8c_fd Boats 😂 lmao are we talking about the car that's been competing with the Porsche 911 for like 50 years?
The Vette has like a 30% higher power-to-weight than your S2K. Even my C4 is much, much faster and hits 170.
Not a car guy, are you...Also, torque is addictive, you should try it sometime.
@@Itsjamilagain enjoy your boat pal, I don't care lol
I had the pleasure of driving an NSX as well and it is a hugely balanced vehicle for being mid-engined. The one thing I noticed is that it doesn't want to kill you, but it actually lets you know when you're approaching its limits lol.
That’s the mark of a well-balanced and great handling car, they’re predictable
not 100% sure it gives you a warning before the spin. well at least not at 90 mph. haha
That's Honda for you.
I've owned my '91 since new (ordered in the fall of '90). Acura Canada invited all new owners to an all expenses paid week at Mt Tremblant track. Very few people commenting on RUclips will ever truly understand what makes this car as spectacular as it is. I've tried to come up with the proper words for 34 years and I'm still speechless. As a matter of fact, I think I'll go for a drive right now and keep my mouth shut (except for a few squeals of delight... still... after 34 years)
this was unreal, could not tear my eyes away
Like the history says, "Without the sporty reliability and handling of the NXS we wouldn't have the super cars we have today." Only enthusiast will ever understand how their cars became as good as they did due to one special vehicle.
Leno will never understand that.
I wasn't too into these when they first came out. I hadn't seen one in person, just in magazines. When I first saw one in person I was struck by it's road presence - low, wide, and small - I loved it. Acura was still new (six'ish years old I believe) so their capabilities and future were still unknown. While it was really Honda behind the scenes, they weren't known for car performance back then. With the benefit of hindsight these are getting the love now that I don't remember them getting when they came out. I would love to own one now.
even the current gen nsx wasnt well received with the hybrid powertrain. now look at all these other manufacturers releasing their own version and critics are giving them so much more love than the nsx ever received. its a shame.
Oh man, my favourite car with my favourite car content creator. Seeing you work this through the canyons with the binaural audio was like being in the passenger seat, absolutely dope man
This car sound excite me
I had the honor to drive one of these over the summer... ease of driving is up there, but the smile it put on my face is unmatched
Zygrene is one of the most underrated car channels out there.
I watch zygrene all the time but i don't know nothing about this channel. Must be because i mainly care about Hondas
The mods in this car looks like it perfects the car. The sound is incredible for a V6 and it even has shades of a V12
This car sound excite me
Yeah it’s like a V12 without the harmonizing symphony. Just a guttural gorgeous sound.
This is my all time dream car, really happy to see you got to drive this beautiful piece of machinery! I hope to own a 92 NSX one day.
same what a pretty car
I used to be so fascinated with this car whenever I played Forza 3 as a kid. I bet that drive would live up to my childhood wonders
Man Topher you knocked this one out of the park!! Had my speakers connected and hearing the V6 was just a real Symphony!! This track or route was just awesome. You look like you would fit right in with the Jamaican country side and how we drive out here. No Power steering is the way to go, really old school, and you handled it.
17:58 couldn't agree more with this statement; i don't live in the LA area (more like an hr south in Orange County) but every Cars and Coffee i go to NEVER disappoints. you get people from all different kinds of backgrounds, young and old, working class and millionaires, etc. sadly, i still dont have my own car (even as a high school senior) but i hope to soon experience this flourishing culture more before i go off to college. this NSX was great, cant wait for more vids over here on the west coast
High school Senior bro Revenge of the sith probably older than you
That manual steering really makes you to think about torque when turning. Awesome drive.
Really not a issue when you are moving. Standing still, beef up
The shuffling of the wheel is impeccable!
as an experienced sim racer that’s driven these canyons. this looks amazingly fun!!!
Wow. The driving experience seems unreal! the sound when you get on it, even the sound when you're off the throttle, the way it takes those corners, everything about this car is amazing. Also, I'm no stranger to TheTopher's impressive skills, but he really knows how to drive especially at high speeds. Every time I watched him hammer it coming around a corner, I'd flinch a little bit because I know I sure as hell couldn't take corners at those speeds. It must've been a really thrilling ride for not only for Topher, but for the passenger as well.
What a car! Epic drive on an epic road with an epic car. If we can't all own one at least we can live vicariously through TheTopher. Thanks man!
Incredible car and incredible quality content!! I listened to this video stuck in traffic earlier and I'm watching it properly now, that's twice today that it has really improved my day lol
This reminds me of driving an '85 RX-7. Five speed, manual rack and pinion, no A/C. The feel of the road in that car was superb. Graduated to hydraulic assist and now electric assist. Just a progressive degradation of road feel, although my current car has electric assist that is less numb than previous electric racks. I miss that little kick you saw in the wheel of the NSX as Topher pulled off the road near the end of the video.
Those early 80’s RX-7’s with the old carbureted 12A rotary were badass. So much fun out of a 1500 car way back in 2002! best part was you didn’t corner with a proper line, you legit horsed it hard and it just went where you pointed it. Sideways, but it got there!
Ive wanted a nsx for as long as i can remember. Closest ive gotten so far is a 06 rsx
Same I miss my type s :(
Only 7 letters away. 😁
This video brings me back to when Senna drove the NSX-R in Suzuka back in the 90s. He made that thing look like it had power steering. Seeing topher 'manhandle' the car just highlights how talented Senna was. Crazy to think.
In leather loafers with his patented throttle blipping mid corner! 🤙
The original steering wheel is way smaller. This car has a larger one, and it exacerbates the "slow" rack.
The induction noises of this thing 🤤🤤
That first Gen NSX, still an absolute timeless legend ~~ listen to that VTEC from that 3.0L V6
This is like peak sports car right here. Incredible.
5 years owning my NSX. Every minnesota winter i wait.. then spring comes and i revisit all the youtube vids of NSX's.. get hyped, then once its warm enough out.. its vteccccccc babyy
i never thought i could like the sound of a v-6 but man this is music.
I’m fortunate to have owned my 98 NA2T since 2005 … watching this brings back so many memories of great drives around the coast of Scotland (NC500), North Wales and across Europe to the Nurburgring … the NSX has an ease to its driving but it can (rarely) bite as with any mid-engined car … Im looking forward to many more memorable drives … thx for sharing this video …
Beatiful thing. The design, the sound, the acceleration.
The scenere is breathtaking as well. What a journey to have.
This engine sounds so amazing. I sorta want one now.
Sometimes I just play your video and dont even watch as just listening to it is enough. Thank you for awesome review!
This is the 2nd video of yours that I have ever watched, the first one being the new WRX. Love the commentary and the cars, super glad to find a channel I can truly relate to. Big love for the content bro. Instant sub.
That legendary V6 is a music to my ear. Brilliant✨
So far one of the best sounding NSX video out there. Really good sound recording !
My dream car over everything else in the world! Miss manual and hydraulic power steering! Everything is electronic now, no road feel at all anymore! Love how we can tell you have to muscle the steering around the corners!
Great video. These are the videos that make me keep watching! Looking forward to your S2000 drive!
My high school dream car has aged so gracefully. Honestly this first gen NSX is one of the best vehicles to ever roam the earth.
Wonderful video. Great car, great driving, great scenery, commentary, everything. Re: 23:00 -- the NSX key is not steel, it's made of an alloy called Monel. And, amazingly, replacements are still available from Honda.
“I wasnt expecting it to be this good.” That sums up the NSX perfectly. Every single person that talks negatively about the NSX has never driven one. In the era we had ours, the E46 M3, C5 Z06, 996 911, none of those came close to the NSX experience.
Early in the video you said “I can’t believe how different this is to the S2000” and as an S2000 owner I was really looking forward to hearing more on that. Unfortunately it was never brought up!
Zygrene has some more videos comparing the 2
As an owner of both cars, they are truly different which is why I keep both for as long as I can afford to. The s2000 has numb steering due to its EPS system. The EPS is good for unwinding the wheel when powering out of corners. The way the s2000 moves around you is amazing and when you get the neutral steer out of corners, it's amazing and very rewarding. The s2000 is nimble on it's feet and I like to think of it as my motorcycle for the street. I use it for small errands around town.
The nsx is a different beast on its own. It's my true sports car. There is a large aero advantage to the car which makes is extremely stable at high speeds. The wide and low stance allows the car to have higher grip levels when cornering. The way the car loads up the rear wheels is different to the s2000 as well. You can feel the car is very balanced around corners.
Thanks for the comparison. @@marloon88
I love the raw feel of older Hondas. I still hope to own or at least get to drive an NSX someday.
Chris is the best driver out of all the car reviewers
I'm just gonna be honest, that manual steering rack would not be for me but I gotta respect someone who can drive it. Great driving!
Such an amazing icon! It honestly surprises me a bit that these aren't even more expensive. I'm glad that's the case, but these are such epic cars! 30 minutes wasn't long enough for this 🤣
one of my dream cars
that's what a v6 should sound like! 😍
I think the J series sounds better
I have a 1999 Honda Accord Coupe V6 in the same red. I'm so glad Honda created an everyday driver that resembles this amazing sports car.
That car and road together, now THAT’s what dreams are made of, sheesh
The most awaited video of all time!
I had a 91 CRXsi in this era, no power steering on that either. For me, the NSX is the perfect car. The Honda warning beep sounds from that era, the absolutely perfectly styled interior, pop up headlights, sweet manual transmission, and perfect power to weight ratio to HAVE FUN WITH!
Owned a '85 CRXsi, loved that car. Saw a blue CRX at the Atlanta Caffeine & Octane a couple days ago, blue. Restored, beautiful car. Hoping to talk to the owner but he was probably over looking at the NSXs. Opposite for me, I have a '91 NSX and was gawking at the other two seat Honda
What a sound, definitely a car to drive to Big Sur, up to Laguna Seca raceway.
That’s what the Maserati MC20 should sound like.
Another great drive review T
👍
Mexico’s looking nice today
from watching this video, im amaze how the nsx handles the turns. wow!
These next videos coming up are going to be nuts oh I can't wait!
Maybe the best canyon video I have ever seen wow 😮😮😮
This dude is driving exactly how i would've driven it, for a car not being mine but the Owner is supper chill with him revving the gears and is a good sport. Drive these cars like they're meant to be driven.
‘5 minutes in’
ITS THIRTY MINUTES HOLY HELL
Tophs you bless us, car deserved every minute!
I drive an NSX in Japan and a JB64 Jimny as my daily D. Yup, absolutely an amazing ride.
love seeing icons like this on the channel! Super awesome - and that key! wow amazing..
bro 3L V6 sounds like perfection in terms of fuel economy for a sporty car...V6's now are just not the same, times have changed.
And becuz the gentlemen agreement between all Japanese auto maker not go over 300hp between their sport cars, even the designer of 1st NSX suggest to Honda chairman Sochiro Honda it should have like 500hp not 276hp .
This was a pleasure to watch and listen to.
One of the greatest super cars ever made. An absolute wonder, a gem...that Jay Leno will never consider adding to his collection.
As the owner of a ‘95 NSX I can confirm they are a fun little car to drive.
Little? I mean, maybe compared to an SUV...
Also as an owner they are tiny.
I didn't read through all the comments so maybe it's been mentioned but I'd like to point out that his initial comment about having to 'man handle' the steering is possibly due to the smaller steering wheel that has been installed. My '91 also has no power steering and I only have to 'put my big boy pants on' at a dead stop with the OEM steering wheel. Any movement frees it up and I would NEVER trade the feel of the manual steering box for those few moments where turning is tough. I've been tempted to get a smaller steering wheel but the car's handling is so perfect IMO that I dare not mess with it. Honda engineers ain't stupid so they did things for a reason and I honour that.
As a S2000 owner, this is on the top of my list of replacement vehicles.
I think you need to own both.
Livin' the dream! :) I have been spending a lot of time driving an Elise on this road in Assetto Corsa with my new pc racing wheel and setup recently so this was a treat for me to see. I downloaded an Integra Type R and had to get my RSX Type S in there but a NSX is my obtainable dream car so I'm glad to see you enjoying that one.
Awesome drive! The only manual steering car I’ve ever owned was my 1988 Honda CRX Si. It was an amazing steering car, but I can’t even imagine how much better the first gen NSX feels. That car on that canyon road… just perfection!
Owned a '85 CRXsi, a blast to drive for sure. I remember that it was a tad faster 0-60 than my brother's '84 300Z. A whooping 91hp but just under 2K lbs. I was at a Caffeine & Octane a couple days ago and a mint blue CRX, sweet ride.
@@stevethomas760 I believe that exact crx youre talking about was just totaled a few days back :(
@@seanbenko8812 Damn, that's terrible. Is the owner okay? Not much car there for protection + '85 safety features.
Chefs kiss your buddies breakdown of the mods. Sounds like he studied it.
What's interesting is I still see a bunch of NSX in my area. It's generally some older fella but it always looks like they're having a blast driving it when they're zooming by
Hey guys I just want to tell you great video this video is absolutely awesome couldn't ask for a better video I love this car.
The NSX was always THE 90s sports car for me. It's funny how 30 years later the popularity of the competitors still seems cyclical between the R34, Supra, FD RX7, etc
my neighbor had one of these. nearly the exact color. would get it out on the weekend, was always a treat.
Hey it's Zygrene! Great content creator 👍
love how the steering looks like doing weights lol
i just smiled for 29 straight minutes :D Thanks for the video Topher!
this was so relaxing so watch, man.
Honda has always had the steering inputs calculated like no other.
This car makes me love my k20 si even more knowing that its practically the same set up but FWD it drive exactly the same and with a tune it can have the same power as the stock nsx.
Lol. Practically the same setup ? A civic And NSX??
Dream Car.
Buddy of mine had one back in the 90's. God, I miss that car.
Amazing car, good luck finding parts for it!!!
It's the terrible thing about owning one, they don't make parts for it anymore which makes the owner sometimes goto extreme measures to make the car work!
amazing review! looks like a blast to drive. You mentioned when this nsx came out, ferraris were old, clunky, and hard to steer and shift. When Acura made the nsx, ferrari created the f40 3 years back... lol. both amazing cars but cant hate on all ferraris of that time without driving em. keep up the good work yall!
being 8 min in and i have already subbed with the notifications on
Favourite japanese sportscar. I'll never not feel delighted and go back to the 11 years old me playing Gran Turismo and eating this thing with my eyes.
The sound of this beauty oh my gosh... I honestly didn't hear anything they said once I started hearing that motor/exhausted... Oh man 😍
This is one of your best videos.
Man that sound is just amazing. I so wish I could afford one
Amazing video, amazing car
Always i see NSX is Impossible not remenber to Senna

Seductive knob caress at 1:50 ! The short gear ratios seems so good. 2nd no longer goes to the moon!
Sounds amazing! It’s intoxicating. A true driving enthusiasts car
Would drive at night with it and listen to retrowave. True 90s feeling 😎
I love the Nsx it is the Peak of Japanese engineering. The only difference between cars now and then is safety and hardware technology. Because of the Nsx, Honda’s form the 90’s to the mid 2000s had the Spirit of what is the Nsx and because of that we the people have so many great Honda’s because of the first gen Nsx passionate designers and mechanical developers. “Honda truly loved racing”
Picked mine up in 2018 for less than 40k with 48k original miles. Guy said it had been on the forums for a month and no one bought it lol. Best vehicle ever
that thing sounds INCREDIBLE
