I was still in high school in 2006 when this guy said he bought his in college but uhh lol these were not ... "cheap" even back then. People 100% knew what AP1 and AP2s were back in 06'. Y'all make it seem like these were $5-6k lol... These held their value even back then.
I remember when these first came out around 2002 - 2003...they were going for $40k CAD in the used market back on those days. Which is around $62k CAD in today's money...
"Honestly, I love this car top down." Now there's a S2000 owner after my own heart. I'm fortunate that as a shorter guy the S2K fits me like a glove - I find the stock seats very comfortable even after spending all day in the car. But when it comes to putting aftermarket seats in the car, Eric did it right. Whether driving a S2K or something else, roads like that certainly make things more fun. (You can see where the idea of sports cars came from in the first place.) He seems like a cool guy, did you shoot a video of his RX7 as well?
I remember 7 years ago when I commented on the old S2000 video from Winding Road filmed with action glasses, believing about a video theft. And you answerd that it was yours . Now you're here again, having a blast into these little monsters !!! Love your content !
The AP1 S2000 has a special engine for sure, but definitely one of the reasons why I prefer naturally aspirated engines. It sounds so raw and like a true sports car. Would definitely be happy with a car like this over a car that’s “fast”.
Great S build. Honestly, and S owners will give me shit for saying this, but lift some weights and pull the EPS fuse. Yes, it's a heavier rack (like 35 lbs vs. 17 lbs on the FD3S), but I daily drive my S without power steering on top of track days/canyons and can never go back. I tried replacing the fuse because I was curious, and it's absolutely horrible. Yes, it's heavy and a 13.9:1 ratio thereby making it harder to turn (slower racks have better gearing to make it easier to turn the wheel), but it's basically like running your hands on the asphalt. Keep the 350mm wheel size as the larger rim allows for more leverage in turns which helps a lot. The wheel will buck your hands on road undulations. The rack does feel objectively heavier than my friend's NB's welded rack at lower speeds, but because he runs a 330mm wheel, it felt just as heavy in the canyons back-to-back.
I feel like you’re under powered for the mods that you have . A lot of people make like 200whp stock . And around 210-215 whp with a test pipe with a Catback and a tune . You should be making more .
after my turbo'd brz got totalled, Ive been struggling to find a new "trackable daily". Cant decide between an r32 gtst or gts4, boosting an s2k, or just going for a motorcycle
Where to get the cruise control buttons/mount, and are we sure that's a 330mm wheel (looks more like 350mm judging from turn signal stalks vs. wheel rim)? Great vid!
I got almost the same mods! Quick question, does anyone else have a weird rattle medal-ish noise on de-cel around 3K RPM? I can't figure out the noise. I thought it was exhaust related, but I already tighten everything.
lol Sadly today's cars are basically appliances on wheels. They won't age gracefully - but I don't see this changing as the use, toss, and replace approach works great for the manufacturers.
@@VirtualGuththat’s what wrong with all modern vehicles, they are basically rolling computers at this point and they are way to complicated, there are just too many things that can go wrong with it. The best thing about cars like this is that they are simply just drivers cars. They will be reliable and fun for 20-30 years. It’s not like a Range Rover that has all these computers that break after a few years and becomes obsolete. These simple drivers cars like the S2000 are just ageless.
@@zoomzoom3839 Sure, but this appears to be what the vast majority of people want. Those computers have enabled incredible levels of performance in today's cars and American car buyers seem to be loving it. Sadly, such performance gains have come at the expense of driver involvement. For quite some time now drivers have been happily trading out manual transmissions for ever lower 0-60 times. Making it all the more ironic when today's car enthusiasts howl about the self-driving vehicles now showing up in ever increasing numbers. From a technology standpoint, autonomous vehicles are just a logical extension of where where we have already been heading for quite some time now. Much has changed since the S2000 was still in production. When S2000 videos pop up on RUclips it is not uncommon to see comments to the effect of "Why isn't Honda building a car like this today?" The simple answer is that relatively few people would actually be willing to buy such a car today - certainly not at today's prices that is.
You can get one with minor problems for around $10k. Will it be easy? No get ready to travel as well I just purchased a 2001 with 114k miles clean title for $9k. Needed a new transmission bought new used one $1k and $500 new clutch installed myself
If you want to pay less, choose a more unpopular car like say the Mazda RX-8 (or even BMW Z3 or Mercedes SLK). It's just a matter of lack of supply compared to demand (which tends to affect most "cult" cars). Less popular sportscars are *always* more affordable. 🙂
That's not true, they make the Honda e lol. It's not exactly a sportscar mind you, but... News on the Sports EV concept (sportscar version of e) seems to have gone quiet, unfortunately. It seems like Honda is concentrating on the rebadged Chevy SUV EVs for the moment. Now, Mazda have presented an electric MX-5 concept and Subaru have presented an electric sportscar concept, it seems like either of those are going to get to market with the first small, 'affordable' electric sportscar even though Honda presented their concept first...

That 86 at the beginning is hilarious.
Also the 991 Gt2 rs

Needless to say, this car is a perfection😍
The NSX-R inspired interior is very nicely done by the owner!
Topher's back with our daily dope early today
What a nice build. And it sounds sooo good
I love mine. I'd get another in a heartbeat. Tracked mine at Nuremberg track. Amazing experience. Highly recommend. 👍
Mine resides in Wisconsin, but I've driven it out to California once. Amazing to be out west with this car.
Recently sold my S2000 to get a 991 911 C2S and i definitely still miss the S2000. Maybe someday in the future I'll have another one

That Glendora Mountain road is so awesome if you can catch it without cars caravaning down to the river on the weekend. 10/10 Miata road.
