The lighter weight and sticky compound tires make the difference on tighter tracks. Ability to carry more speed on turn in, at the apex, and corner exit makes up for the loss in HP. It really is just that simple. I am admittedly not a huge fan of GM products but I could see myself buying one of these if I had the money and didn't need a larger car or truck.

Thank you TFL and Nathan for taking the time to review this car when most other RUclips automotive channels chose to ignore it.
Those that have driven GM Alpha-platform cars know that Alpha sets the standard for balanced, precise and predictable handling. Quick steering, strong brakes with good feel and expertly tuned dampers provide a rewarding driving experience. The 2.0L engine is not as strong as the Mustang’s 2.3L, but it has much less lag. Having driven a Cadillac CTS with this engine, I am confident that the power and torque available can easily create conditions that likely exceed the skill levels of most drivers. In other words, it’s a lot of fun. No doubt the larger engines are more exciting, but as Nathan suggested, this is a lot of performance in a quality package for a reasonable price,

I bought a camaro 2.0 and have been driving it for 6 months. I slightly have mixed feelings with it because the reputation of the Camaro should always have a v8. The positive side is that I get to daily drive it everyday, not worry about the costs of maintenance, gas mileage and monthly payments. Also my mindset was to keep it as long as I can and not worry about spending much as it gets old. Don’t worry guys, if you like gas mileage and a Camaro, get this. If you’re concerned more on performance, get the SS or SS 1LE and ZL1. I’m just hoping people will stop the hate on the 2.0 and v6 coz we still represent one car brand and model, a chevy Camaro 😉

I had a rental Camaro last year with the 2018 4-cylinder turbo engine. I was pleasantly surprised by it's performance (both engine and chassis) even though it did sound like a vacuum cleaner. As a substitute for a V8 I doubt that it will satisfy. But being a Porsche guy (and a life-long Chevy disdainer) I see it more of a successor to the 944 turbo concept. I could picture a lot of people with slightly more modest budgets finding an enjoyable and fun to drive car. If you show up for a track-day or auto-cross, you won't be embarrassed, but will still get ~30 MPG on the drive home.

When I use to sell Chevrolets, we had a few 2.0L Turbos on the lot and one was a blue convertible, it was so quick light and fun. Yes it doesn't have the noise and grumble of the V8 (it is not a sports car unless it has one is what most people say), but for every day driving, it is nimble on the backroads and has good acceleration off the line as well especially since it is lighter. I am not a audiophyle so that lack of V8 grumble doesn't bother me. I wouldn't mind having one of the 2.0L 4s in a convertible. I can't drive a stick, but for those that can and want a bigger car than the Mazda Miata (like Roman) and cost about the same this 1LE pack on the 2.0T would fit the bill. Nice "Quick" review Nathan, thanks for taking us along and do like that Orange color like you do. :)

Having just purchased the 18 I4t it is much faster than it feels. The handling is off the charts...you just can break it. Now the tools will never go for it. The sad part is they don't get choice...they think everyone has to be and think like them. What can you do they exist. Still I personally think the V6 is the best choice but boy the breaking and handling are amazing in this car.

The chassis, power plant options, and so forth are very good. From a purely technical side, I’d do a V6 1LE. Enough power, sounds good, great balance, and the 1LE bits give it a genuine performance improvement on track and winding roads. If you’re on more of a budget, or just want something more practical for the daily commute, the turbo 4 is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

@@ruairiodonoghue9527 Which LT1 are we talking here ? If its fourth gen a bone stock LT1 won't be able to keep up , cams header yes it'll be close . But again it takes 10 mins to hook up a tuner and upload a tune to these new 2.0t and it will smoke that slightly warmed over lt1

@@dilsher12 my 4th gen lt1 has exaust, headers, intake, tune, bigger tires, lowered, and I can keep up with 5th gen ss's on a track no problem.

If this car weighs 400 less than an SS, my car weighs 100 less then this. They make them so heavy these days

The new design FITS the 4banger turbo and I Love it! Affordable and fun plus its own look....... I got a 2015 SS manual 6 speed, but I would love this 4 cyl. Turbo some day!!!!! Totally interesting, the happy medium, get the great 0 to 60 turbo , and for highway driving with no speed tickets, this is a great car

I have a 2023 2.0T and it’s so fun. I’m 16 so it’s y first car. Parents didn’t want me to have too much power so I said how about the 4 cylinder and they agreed. Mom doesn’t know that the stats are still crazy.😂

I love these. We hired a previous gen V8 SS Rag top for a 2.5k road trip in 2016. I wish they’d bring them to the U.K.

I like the way it looks, I really do. If you don't like it, that's your opinion, but please don't say that people are stupid or something insulting them personally just because they don't share your opinion

Chevy and Ford need to make those 4cyl sound good so it can fit the personality of the car. Older Toyotas and Subarus had deep sounding 4cyl that add character to the car they were in, so I know it can be done again with these newer cars.
