- The artist known as Wyland has painted more than 100 murals around the globe featuring life-sized depictions of whales and other sea life. Correspondent Tracy Smith joined Wyland as he touched up a mural in Seattle, to discuss his creation of what has come to be a worldwide aquatic gallery - each artwork a public love letter to the ocean and its inhabitants.

I was lucky enough to buy an original painting 30+ years ago when he opened a small gallery on 2nd street in BelmontShore, CA. I cherish it every day.
My first year teaching in 1998 my classroom looked out upon a mural of whales and dolphins on the side of the museum. It was always grateful for that mural. The more stressful my year became the more thankful I was for that year. A big thank you to mural painters everywhere
He and his work are a gift to the rest of us. Thank you!

Finally it aired! Yay! We were in laguna and got to meet and talk to Tracy and Robert after this interview they did while walking on the beach. Both were so so nice!
Love his work especially because it's FREE to anyone who wants to look and enjoy. It's not easy what he does by any means.
So glad to see this and relive the memories of watching him paint the Edgewater in Seattle 2 years ago. Everything Wyland does is for the sake of the animals and helping people grow closer to them .. which is far more meaningful and powerful than praise from any art critic. 🌎🎨💙

I am so excited to see this! I moved to the Florida Keys 28 years ago when I got married. When I 1st moved there I was introduced to this amazing artist and would buy as much of his artwork as I could and loved seeing pictures of the whaling walls! I love ❤️ sea life 💙 and so this remarkable art really touches my soul ❤️ 💖!

Wow he's 65?? He is pretty good looking himself!!! They've been painting a bunch of murals here in Jackson Michigan, our city should've hired him to come do a mural.
I went to Jackson once to see the Cascades.
Beautiful and thank you for sharing our local beauties who we love and try very hard to protect. We locals encourage lovers not to get too close as they have too many "paparazzi tour boats" viewing them ev. summer. Love your gracious talent!!

He's attractive, too young for me but when I heard he's 65, 64 left handed, too! CV has left brains..Some guy called him a womanizer while another spoke of Wyland & Tracy.

I personally don't find his murals drawing me in. I.most appreciate his work for drawing in others, who hopefully become more aware of the declines in every ocean and sea.
Bob Talbot's work is mesmerizing. Catching that fleeting moment where light and movement are perfect - with a film camera - now that is magical.
He’s making bank & giving back so who cares about critics.

He has a foundation. He also does the murals for free to spread awareness. 4000 gallons of paint isn’t cheap.

Why did you cover the mural in Las Vegas…..you invited children to paint and then destroyed it by not acknowledging it and then painting over it. You destroyed so many little souls😢

I haven’t, but wouldn’t want to sell either anyway if I had.
