Ride in Peace Jake and thank you for all the fun I had from your inventions.
after I saw this movie in 1998, I sold my skis, bought a Barton and have been racing my board ever since!
watching this takes me back to when I learned of snowboarding! as much fun as I had skiing, it seemed the snowboarders were having more fun then I was. So, I HAD to try it. Well, I have not been on skis since about 1991 and LOVE snowboarding to this day! Watching this reminds me of when snowboarding had real style. This is the type of riding I enjoy and yes, I wear a bit of neon from time to time :) Really enjoyed this one.
Hey have you watched Craig Kelly Smooth Groove , go to Google type that same title it’s on (Vimeo)......... hope you enjoy style, when it meant something ...... !!🤙😎
1990 was when I started. And stopped in 1997... Still have my old ROSSIGNOL 163 ALPINE SNOWBOARD...
my ankles burn just from looking at those stances
😂
Never seen this video before. Came out the year before I started riding in 1990.
I just remember we used to piss off all the 🎿s back in the early 90s. They hated us shredding and carving up the hills... It still amazes me how we got those big boards to fly on the half pipe...
Still have my old ROSSIGNOL 163 ALPINE SNOWBOARD. The old hot pink GNU was my first board.
Yees, back in the glory days🤙🏼😎🌞
God bless us all for enduring those neon colors. Glory days for sure….
Awesome... brings back a lot of memories of my old Burton Air 5.5 :)
This film sold a LOT of snowboards
jeez, I'm in love with 80's fashion
Oh man I remember these days so long ago. Much of the footage is at Stratton VT. The clock tower in the background, the gondola (ganjala) in the background. Good times good times....
Aesthetic ride
This was the year I fell in love with snowboarding. Got to meet and ride with Craig Kelly, Keith Wallace, Jeff Brushy, with film, and mountain guide crew, Steve and Terry Mathews at Red Mountain when they were filming. I forgot the name of the video, but it was right after Chill. Still snowboarding at this point in my life. What a ride its been. Check out Snowboarders in Exile, That is the year I moved to Big Mountain, thanks to the advise of Steve Mathews.
Glad to hear someone else mention Steve and Terry, me a my buddies got to know them pretty good over the years by going to their Peak Adventure Cat boarding company in Idaho. Those were such killer trips and some of the best turns in my 38 years riding (and still riding).
We’ve done the heli trips ( North Cascade Heli ski) and speaking for myself will never do one again, our Cat trips with Steve at Peak were incredible we loved his snowboarder attitude, their policy at Peak was that you get a minimum of 8 runs BUT will go til dark if you’re able to. Well we had 15 runs that trip while making turns in the dark only to have the cats lights as our reference to where we had to go. A funny part of that trip was when a group of three skiers said they were done after four runs and I distinctly remember saying to the rest of the group that “ those skiers are crazy if they think we’re going to shutdown early because they’re tired, at least they had a nice cat ride for five hours.
I still remember team Burton up at Baker filming parts of this video, there’s no missing Hidden Wave at 22:30, there is still a board shop in Burlington Washington named after that infamous hit
