A little 550 para cord wrap on the handle and that thing is golden!
I bought mine new for $80 at Gander RV & Outdoors in Wichita, Kansas...w/ Good Sam Club Card Discount applied.
Best S90V knife I own, but usually go afield w/ 2..so a carbon Mora does the heavy chores & this is only for cutting.
If you hunt or fish...then this is an absolute "must have" for cleaning your game in the field & for prepping for meals.
Agreed! You got a great deal at $80!
orange is by far my fav corlor and otherwise im sold
I wish these weren’t so crazy expensive. Probably warranty related. If you break it and want it replaced, the whole unit gets replaced. Best case I find a beat up one in a pawn shop and regrind it.
It’s also because it’s S90V steel, which is a very expensive steel. Most knifemakers will also tell you it’s expensive and time-consuming to grind S90V steel. Also, since the steel can be chippy at times, I assume some of the price figures in waste when the grinder causes structural failures or significant chipping.
It’s not smaller than a Bugout. It basically is a fixed blade Bugout. It’s the exact same size.
It is slightly smaller if you look at the specs.
Nice, simple looking fixed blade. Great video once again.
Thanks!
Love this piece!
Nice review. Do you have some experience with this knife after some months?
Great blade, like it. Thanks for sharing 😊👍
It's a cool little knife for sure. I wonder if it would be possible to design something similar but with a sheath that could be slid onto the handle to act as temporary scales while using the knife - probably more hassle than it's worth but could be a neat trick.
That’s a really interesting idea. You might be on to something.
Awesome looking knife 👍
The great edge retention and extreme lite weigth and small size makes this a super choice as an emergency BACK UP BLADE. I would not carry this as my normal hunting/bushcraft/survival knife. In my mind this is great for food or game processing. The extreme small handle would make processing wood, doable but a nightmare, even feathersticks might be tough! It would be great on the off chance you loose or break your regular carry knife. I guess you could carry as your game processing blade but also carry a better handled blade for other camp chores.
A prep knife for camping or hunting is probably its best use.
Saw it was discontinued and decided to get it. Kind of like a bird and trout knife. Should be a great knife to carry while flyfishing. Either attached to my chest pack of as a neck knife. May be good at skinning deer as well as a backstrap detachment device. The steel choice is good as s90v will maintain the sharpness well. Thanks for the review.
It’ll definitely do well for fly fishing. Let me know how you like it when you get it.
I think I like hiking that means taking a walk with food and gear correct ?
Lol. Yes.
The Altitude has been my EDC since they launched. Mine is 630/700. I like it so much I bought another when I found out they are being discontinued.
It’s the easiest carrying fixed blade I’ve come across!
I saw these were on sale and it’s very tempting. Especially after hearing how impressed you are by it. I’ve been in the market for a small fixed blade EDC for months and months now, just can’t decide what I want. There’s so many great options. Love the Guardians, White River Backpackers/Capers, Rainier Knives Fastpack, TOPS Street Scalpel 2, and several Bark River models. Like I said, just so many great options that I can’t decide. If anyone has any tips or suggestions I’d be all ears. Thanks. 👍🤘
If you tell me what you will use it for, I can recommend one for you.
It’s discontinued now so it’s good you got it. If I ever go hunting which I plan on I think I’d get one of those for hunting but the orange version. If you’re able to I’d like to see a benchmade hidden canyon hunter come onto the channel for review with the wood scales.
I’m going to be honest: I probably won’t get to the hidden canyon anytime soon. There are several fixed blades on my list before it, not to mention many folders.
The blade looks nice. Not a fan of the handle though. Seems a little thin
It is very thin. Definitely not meant for extended use.
Hey, what kind of strap do you have on your Guardian 3? Looked like Velcro. Never seen one like that.
Yes. It’s a Velcro strap held in place by Chicago screws. I did a review of the guardian as one of my first videos. It’s not quite as good as my newer stuff but it shows it up close and how it’s secured. I use it because it’s a low profile, very secure, and easy to get on and off without having to take my belt off.
That handle is begging to be wrapped in paracord
It definitely is!
Cool knife, but Benchmade and I have parted ways over their issues with the 2A Community and support of anti-2A politicians.
I don’t necessarily agree with the whole Benchmade boycott thing (and I am very pro 2A), but I definitely understand.
