I love how Nathan had an intuitive understanding of exposure therapy as a kid and later becomes a therapist! ❤

Hes probably one of my favorite youtube therapists on the topic of OCD. He may not know it, but I went to his channel when I was struggling with it the most during my darkest years.

Do you know what is the only good side of intrusive thoughts and obsessions? You experience how irrational those earlier intrusive ones were when you already have the new ones in your head. Remember this and imagine it when a new thought gets you.

I was literally diagnosed with ocd 3 weeks ago I was literally going crazy thinking I was a monster or a bad person. I have my first therapy session in August but I will say your videos started helping me understand it better and realized I can get under control I've been welcoming my thoughts in and using the maybe, maybe not phrase. Thank you

Can you make a video about contamination but instead of getting sick yourself, the fear would be about getting someone else sick or causing them health risks?

Thank you for all your help ❤.
I wish I could get rid of all my thoughts. This hostile sound in my head does not go away one second, more I try to ignore it louder it speaks. Once I banged my head to the wall to get rid of the it, guess what I ended up having bruises on my face and eyes and in the midst of all that pain I could clearly hear that hostile sound laughing and forceful as ever😢

Similar story here. Bitten as a child, then avoided dogs, until I faced that fear by volunteering at a rescue for big dogs with behavior problems. Eventually adopted a wolfdog who no one else could handle. Fear overcome!

Can you make a video on how ocd affects decision making being indecisive like a kid even though you are an adult.

My mom has told me clearly to not touch a dog and I got my whole hand in bites. That's how you learn, on pain it's the best teacher. I was never afraid of dogs, I had lots of them during childhood and learnt to listen to their body language. I got never ever bit again 😊 Leant on a mistake, but one dog doesn't mean that all of them are the same. We had also a giant St. Bernard's dog and he was a cuddly plushee on 4 paws, he always led me home from school taking my hand in his mouth gently. I can't imagine having anxiety about animals 😂 As a kid I also was almost kicked by a horse in my chest but still I rode horses and all it gave me was confidence.

What does ERP look like for a theme around confronting people? I moved in to a new place a few months ago. After I moved in, paid, signed a lease, I found out something was wrong with the house that I wasn't told about. I was upset I wasn't told before I signed the lease. I let the owner know and she apologized. A few weeks go by and I am beseiged by the thought that I need to ask her, "Did you not tell me on purpose?" I already confronted her and she apologized. She even said she thought she had mentioned it. So, why is this thought hammering me and hammering me? It is weeks now and I can't get clear of the thought. This is a pattern I notice where I am given an order about something I need to do (usually apologizing or bringing up something) and if I don't do it, my mental health goes haywire. It is actually quite frightening. It is weeks I am sitting with this, allowing, feeling, curling up in a fetal position, crying. I can't get relief. I know if I do what it is asking me to do (i.e. ask her the question) I will feel relief. Yet, another assasin thought will be around the corner if not right away, usually within a few days. What does ERP look like for this? With other themes I can usually just refrain from doing the compulsion, feel the discomfort, and watch the anxiety recede. This one does not behave that way.

I have had bouts of ocd themes during super stressful times in my life but didn't know what it was. It would always go away. My husband left me unexpectedly in 2020 right before covid. It was so traumatic. I started a new relationship in 2022 and now have ocd around him cheating or leaving me. It's exhausting

Today i tried to resist the urge to seek reassurance and after some minutes the anxiety went away! Aaaand...it felt weird. Now my new obsession is: why i felt that way? That's what erp is all about, i shouldnt feel weird, i should feel relief... so... why am i questioning this? im obsessing over this. What is that? 😢
