I hope Shelfy is in the AL Central video.... since ya know, his favorite team is the white sox LOL
It’s the Phillies
@@Gimmy-972 LMFAO. 🤦🏻♂️ I know bro. You didn’t watch the jenga trivia videos did you? Haha
Either him or Joez😂
I'd love to see a 2020 hits draft. One player per team, only the 2020 season. No one remembers that year so it would be fun to watch the guys try to get the best players, whoever the fuck that is!
Y'know what, yeah, I need to see this!
Jolly: I keep losing these because I fall behind then play it too safe.
Dude has passed Hank Aaron in the homerun draft twice and the hits draft as well yet he thinks he is playing it safe.
I am happy that someone besides me remembers how good a ballplayer Darin Erstad was
I was definitely thinking as they got past the first few picks that there's some sicko Darin Erstad year, surprised he got pulled. Was also thinking maybe one of the Angels Eckstein years could have been good
@@Tokai-Desu I was hoping for an Eric Chavez pull as well
surprised no one went with A-Rod's Texas years.
I was shouting it at them.
I was thinking the exact same thing
or Seattle
@@bluemeltedpopsicle175 hits in 2000 for ARod on Seattle. The 100 walks he drew that year makes it a bit of a rough pick.
Or Cano’s Seattle years.
Ichiro should of been a lifelong Mariner... 😔
Should _have_ 🤓☝️
@@QuarrelsomeLocalOaf SHUT UP, NERD. 😭
I agree with the sentiment, but Ichiro did ask to be traded (more or less) to help the team and give him a chance to play in the postseason again.
The 01 .mariners should have also won 117 but they blew it
You “should of” stayed in school
SCREAMING MVP 04 VLADY
Vlad Sr. Not being picked makes me sad lol
They literally brought his name up and discussed where he was eligible at, only to have Shelfy fill his last OF spot with Chas McCormick (after stupidly taking Mickey Moniak earlier). It's almost as though he doesn't care about trying to put together the best team. Meanwhile, Jake's over here pulling out Michael Young's career year.
I was thinking 2001 Bret Boone this whole video not gonna lie
right!!!. He had a million RBI He had to have some hits lol. (206)
Same M's fan in me wanted him snagged so bad.
Fantastic video, as an Angels fan, it was great seeing the classics of Erstad and Anderson. Good pulls boys
Jake loves those early 2000s Angels teams. Check out their Watchin' Baseball video on the 2002 World Series if you haven't yet.
2001 john olerud and bret boone combo would have gone hard
"He walks too much!" Pretty sure this same statement was made to Jolly last time he took Trout in the career hits video.
This is an absolute all-time video, gentlemen
Absolutely love this content gang!
I love this crew so much
Man.. I love you guys so much!! Your videos really make my day. Keep in the good work fellas!!!
Jolly did the right thing taking the rangers 2012 middle infield those dudes could rake
The best possible lineup that was provided at the end can be improved if Michael Young is moved to DH and you use 02 Miguel Tejada at Shortstop. Michael Young primary DH'd in 2011 for 213 hits so it is better even if you don't use that spot as like a free space.
BACK TO BACK DRAFTS WITH MY GOAT MICHAEL YOUNG?!?!?!?! MUST BE CHRISTMAS
Picking ichiro and not doing the literal highest hit season of all time is crazy lol.
I was waiting for the Kenji Johjima 2006 pick. 147 hits at catchers.
True, but it at least proves that they're not cheating and researching ahead of time. Unless you have memorized that Ichiro set the record in '04, it's a good assumption that the guy that won ROTY and MVP while leading off for a 116-win team had a pretty good season that year.
@@Gary-lx9gsAnd also Ichiro, especially in his Seattle years, was a hitting machine. Pretty much any year you pick from the first decade of his MLB career is bound to hit (no pun intended)
My Team
C:2015 Evan Gattis-139
1B:2004 Scott Hatteberg-156
2B:2001 Bret Boone-206
3B: Richie Sexson- 156
SS: 2001 Alex Rodriguez-201
OF: 2001 Johnny Damon-165
OF:2018 Mitch Haniger-170
OF: 2009 Bobby Abreu-165
DH:2018 Khris Davis- 142
Total: 1500
2nd place
Really cool to see Shelfy here evolved from just the show content
A bit of a deep cut, but one of my favorites growing up was Juan Gonzalez (OF, Texas Rangers). In his second MVP season (1998), he had a career high 193 hits (and also mashed 45 homers to go with 157 RBI). Not the most prolific hitter, but he was a masher before he moved to Detroit into the canyon called Comerica. He had a bounce back year in 2001 with Cleveland, but injuries (mostly his back) meant he was never near the same after that.
(edited to clarify his back injuries really became a problem after his year with Cleveland.)
Big W Jake taking Edgar. Would have been a tragedy to leave him on the board.
Hits is a great pick, excited for these vids
Rack em Willie getting the shout😂
Ichiro my favorite player of all time, +1 to Jolly for snagging him instantly
I love these :)
A sneaky good pick for literally any AL West draft is 2000 Richard Hidalgo
Man, you could have just picked most of the '01 Mariners team (save for catcher and left field) and done a hell of a lot better!
Don’t know why I always forget how good of a hitter Prince was. Always one of my favorites to see take his donkey hacks. Loved that swing
12:41 me preparing for the day.
Can’t believe the A-Rod snub. Also I really wanted Shelfy to pick COVID ROTY Kyle Lewis for the memes
An interesting episode would be each contestant choosing one player (homers and/or hits) for each decade starting in the 1930’s through the 2010’s. For example, Jake, Shelfy, Jolly each select one player in the 1930’s, then one player in the 1940’s, then one player in the 1950’s and so on filling up the positions in the lineup!
I was thinking Pudge in 01 with the Rangers, but Jason Kendall is a solid pull too
Ight im sold Shelfy is cool fr
2001 Seattle Mariners🥲🥲
missed this one a couple weeks ago. i think 2022 sean murphy is a pretty good catcher year (134 hits). which i only remembered because I curse the A's for giving up so many good players to the braves on the daily
I was so shocked no one took Giambi...
His highest option would have been 178 hits. There were far better options for 1B and DH.
@@wolfpackjew Actually 181 in 1999
@@musicman3808 this is only 2000 and later
@@wolfpackjewdh sure but not really first base. I'm pretty sure he's 3rd so definitely worth picking.
@@cthefro the following have all had 200+ hit seasons since 2000:
2023 Freeman 211
2011 Gonzalez 213
2003 Pujols 212
2000 Helton 216
2000 Sweeney 206
(or if you want to say Pujols was more of a leftfielder that year, he had 196 in 2004...still more than Giambi's best)
Jolly, i gotta know what kind of watch your wearing. Is it an Orient chronograph?
3:49 that’s what made people so angry about Josh Hamilton. The guy was putting up 30-40 homers in under 150. He only played over 150 games in 2 of his 10 MLB seasons.
I am confused, do they get time beforehand to prepare?
For a pitching draft u guys should do wins and saves for starters and closers
I was thinking George Spring 2017.
Robinson Cano had 195 hits in 2016 as a mariner
Last time I was this early Moses had a paper route
jolly definitely did some studying before this episode
Speaking of nobody hits anymore and the AL West, go check out some of the Angels hitters batting averages. It’s not OK
I might be wrong but I believe Jed lowrie in 2019 went off! A’s all day!!
Congrats to Mr. Happy Grapes.
This is juiced ball merchant Alex Bregman erasure
Mickey Moniak 😂
I’ll second that - Mickey Moniak 😂
Was there a rule limiting AL West players to the three-division era? Because I would have grabbed some of the stud contact hitters from teams that were in the previous version of the AL West. Immediately, it's Twins-era Carew when he was still a 2B, George Brett for almost any year in the 70s, plus 80s Kirby Puckett was a beast.
I'm not sure if it's the No. 1 shortstop pick but I'm immediately going for 1982 Robin Yount, since he pretty much had all of his career highs in that one WS season. Then on top of that, Paul Molitor and Cecil Cooper from that same team both had 200-hit seasons.
(Seriously, Jolly, have a look at the '82 "Harvey Wallbanger" Brewers. It's a weird-ass team with a scary batting lineup that had to overcome one of the weaker pitching rotations ever to win a pennant. They hit more than 200 home runs in an era when 150 often put you among the best HR teams.)
2001 Brett Boone. Always guess 2001 Brett Boone
Jolly’s body language during the Erstad guess leads me to believe he cheated
Does anyone know why these trivia videos dont show up on my recommended but every baseball today does??
Jake not drafting Arod is wild
sweet angels cowboy hat
No Arod Mariners? Arod Texas 2001?
Still waiting for the Holds draft 🔥
how do you not get 2004 ichiro
They def could do this with ERA too
What i love about these videos is that we know there is no cheating beforehand. and it would be boring otherwise if we knew everyone was going to get the best picks.
Really shocked nobody picked Jonah Heim for catcher or Shohei Ohtani
Holy shit they did it again
2013 Matt Dominguez going undeafted is criminal.
The fact that Shelfy took Mikey Moniak over Vlad Guerrero..... 😅
And THEN McCormick after they all brought up Vladdy...
Not a fan of the trolling, there’s still a lot of fun, competitive names out there. They compliment a Garrett Anderson pick, but what about Raul Ibañez? Randy Winn was also solid for a few years in Seattle.
1998 mariners A-Rod and JR
2001 A-Rod?
Should do a doubles, RBIs or a saves draft
No VLAD??? Good job Jolly!
No Mariners or Rangers A Rod? Wowowowowow
“I’m between two guys”
Joe Mauer 2009 191 hits. Pee Rose 1973 230 hits. I'm surprised no one guessed rose for some year.
Oh, I missed the 2000 and later rule
and the division rule.....damn, sorry
Jolly finally had a lineup where a Mets player couldn’t be chosen… and he won. (All jokes)
Yo what if we do a draft but players can only be picked from shortened seasons
no one picking uncle mike is wild
wish shelfy picked Kyle Lewis 2020 at the end there
How could you NOT know 2004 Ichiro? 242 as a rookie is insane dont get me wrong but... bruh, 262 in a single season will probably never happen again. Though like ANY 2001 Mariner would've been a good pick.
SCREAMING 2023 LUIS ARRAEZ UNDERRATED😊
Brett Boone 01 is such a gimme, but such a forgotten MVP season (yeah shouldve went to him instead of Ichiro if we're being real)
No 01 brett boone kinda shocked me ngl
These videos make me question if jolly is actually writing his own videos
I was screaming 1977 Rod Carew but y’all too young!
That's why it's since 2000. Nobody knows Ball pre 90s besides big names.
Batting Avg Draft
No A-Rod is crazy.
Chone figgins being left off this game is kind of shocking
JASON KENDALL SHOULD BE A HOF
No ‘01 giambi or ‘01 A-Rod
Sean Murphy 2022?
is this all post y2k because i would think of rickey henderson in idk like 80s
If no one does Darin Erstad 2000, thats a snub
Was begging for gold glove, batting title winner, 2021 Yuli Gurriel
"Those are hits"
Erstad 2000!
Anyone ever point out Shelfy sounds like Ben Affleck?
Did they really miss the three of the big four from the Rangers? González, Palmeiro, and Clark?
its post-2000s. The guys you named weren't good picks for this draft. All the big hit years were pre-2000.
@@khain37 Thanks for that. I didn't catch that being said in the video. In that case, only Palmeiro had any real value after that point.
How did no one pick vladdy
I was yelling Kurt Suzuki no clue if it was good or not
The question is what year. 09 is his best with 159 which I think is second best.
