Follow up on finding hood foam... Turns out my brother-in-law works for a company that makes foam for Polaris! Sometimes they have dumpsters of it leftover so he offered to bring me some next time that was the running product. I waited about 2 weeks and he brought me a good supply. If you run into a hitch, let me know. I could probably score you some!
Dang I wish I would of found them. Just 300 miles from me. Those skis aren't rusted because the didn't use salt back then. Could be a kill dozer bumper grandby isn't far from grand junction. I would bet it is.
Fun walk around! Thanks for sharing another unique sled with us! Just wondering though, do you have a resource for obtaining hood foam? Or... what do you use? I've got a couple machines that could use replacement as well.
@@nuttersspeedshop What would you say the proper thickness is? Is that even critical, within reason? Wait... looking at some now and pretty sure I have my answer. Thanks for the help!
@@kennethgoin628 I'm not sure. The base is pretty thin, maybe 3/8" or 1/2" Then they have different sized bumps too. Sled is already back in storage so it's not easy to measure.
@@nuttersspeedshop Everything I'm seeing from my search resource is 1.5" thick, but I think that's the bump thickness. I can find thicker but not thinner, so I'm assuming the base mat is only 1/2" or thereabouts. I have sleds accessible. I can measure what they have and let you know, instead of you dragging the sled back out of storage. You've got enough work to do! lol
Congrats on 1000, hopefully the next stop is 10k!!
Yes! Thank you!
I love that sled
Congrats on the 1K!!!!
Thanks!
That's in nice shape.
Thanks.
That's a looker Nutter!
Thanks
That's one sweet machine 👌
Thanks George!

Growing up in Canada in the early 80’s, I can appreciate seeing one of these.
Had one that we raced cross country always thought the ss440 Yamaha was unbeatable. The txc walked it every time.
Awesome. I was told most of these were raced.
@@nuttersspeedshop believe it or not the one we raced was clocked at 88.9 mph on a cross country hard pack
@@martylevin7555 Very cool.
The 82 Txc is a sweet sled and yours is an exceptional example. I have a basket case 82 fun project someday.
Right on!
Thanks for sharing Nutter, that thing is sweet
Thanks!
Nice sled. I like those older ones. They are simple and easy to work on.
Got one also.
I should make a registry and see how many survived.
Some things don't change..my 97 XCF sounds like your TXC!!!!
Cool!
As a kid I remember the txc 340 free air and a 82 440 txc both were very quick
Quick, light and fun. The best kind of a sled!
The txc was sure fun to ride!!
I always liked those tan yellow orange red decaled sleds along with the seats. I never knew it had a pipe like that for 2 years too...fun to know
That is one sweet ride, very clean. Love to add something like that to my collection 😁
My birth year! I'm a rare design myself!😅

It would be really cool to find out it was a killdozer bumper, but I don't know how it could be confirmed.
Maybe look at some known kill dozer bumpers from the ones I have seen it's a definite possibility
Cool video. I always found it odd that polaris put a fanner in a TX chassis. Good thing at least, that was a great engine.
Thanks!
What is the story on the TX in front of your 82 in the shed?
My 77 TX340 old grass drag sled? It is on the list to come back to life at some point.

Just search for 'egg crate acoustic panel' for the foam. I haven't bought any yet, so I don't have an exact part number that I know matches.

Maybe I'll drag it out again this weekend and see what I can tell.
