    PCSX ReArmed is heavily optimized for CHD and PBP format only.
    ISO and Bin files can run significantly worse and can overall be less compatible, unless it's 2D games. There is an outdated PCSX ReArmed compability list (we need to catch up) on GBAtemp, which functions as a guide with recommended settings as well.
    The emulator already performs amazingly by now. I'd say more than 85% of games are very compatible. You can almost throw any game at it with good success of having an enjoyable experience. Most of them can run near full speed and more important hold it's frame rate with some occasionally frame dips pretty well. However, small an medium frame dips are still pretty common with most of the demanding 3D games.
    That's why I can't recommend any games other than the games you like. However you need to convert them right and have good settings. CHDMAN and PSX to PSP is a good choice to start.

    I work at a games retailer in the US. About a month after the switch light was released all of the DS products including games and consoles showed up discontinued in our system, we slowly sold through all of our DS consoles and Nintendo has not sent us any more to this day. Last week we revised the Nintendo case and the shelf locations and labels for the DS systems are gone and all the remaining DS games and accessories are clearanced. If you’re interested in a new DS system I would highly advise trying to buy one now because they have been discounted for a while now and there won’t be anymore new units. When I was talking with the Nintendo rep a few months ago she told me that the switch lite is the replacement for the DS family of portable systems, Nintendo is only going to maintain the switch platforms going forward.

      I mean, if your 3DS gets bricked, if you have a flashcart that can use NTRboot, you can use that to unbrick, IIRC. Plus, if you have multiple systems to mod, you can use just the one card, too. I personally like having something to occupy the card slot, so I have my flashcart there.

    • @Kalvinjj
      @Kalvinjj 4 года назад

      @@helentran204 What kind of unbricking you mean? Don't remember now (not as doubting, just really forgot), was it that you boot it straight from the NTRboot and perform recovery straight from that? One tip I would always give too is having a NAND backup, can save you from pretty much any issue from what I've seen. With that you're quite safe whatever happens to it, unless the hardware itself dies of course. It has saved my ass once.
      You can even hardmod the console and inject the backed up NAND straight into the console's memory chip in case everything else fails. It's one of those things you really cannot skip when modding, when I did it to friends or so I always store the backup on a cloud folder as well so they (hopefully) download it too and keep it safe.

    I had an itch to scratch, I already own 2 Vita's but I haven't owned a Nintendo system since the very first Game Boy and your 2DS videos and others from YT made me decide to get a 3DS, so here I am, owner of a brand new New 3DS XL, I've spent the night hacking it 'cause even with the amazing guide I'm just slow, mine comes from my grocery store's multimedia area, they didn't even have a power cable sold separately for it, I've passed by this console doing my groceries many times... And now that I'm wanting to get it, nothing to charge it with? It was all in the moment and having to get anything online might have made me think twice about the whole purchase. So I took my car, went to much bigger stores, and they had no 3DS at all! But I found a power cord for almost every existing handhelds, paid extra when I only needed a basic cable and a decently sized micro SD xD... And back to my local store for the console. Anyway, it came with an old V9.X something FW so I used the sound hack method before being able to install boot9strap and continue with gm9 and Luma! I won't even bother installing retroarch and Daedalus or all the PC ports, having those on Vita's already, but I'm super glad to have this one :) The N64 Zelda ports look crazy nice with the 3D, with eye tracking it's an awesome thing honestly!

    I modded my brother's New 3DS XL for him a little while ago and it was honestly one of the easiest mods I've ever done. 3ds.hacks.guide is extremely easy to follow and definetally recommend it to anyone wanting to get a little more life out of their 3DS/2DS as it just makes it much better. And to clarify for people unaware, SOME of the R4 cards (Such as Gateway cards) will work for 3DS stuff, however you have to be running an extremely old firmware and it's just not worth it when the softmod is free to do.

    Funny thing actually happened while I was modding my New 2DS XL. Basically, while I was installing the Homebrew software, I was noticing some weird crap on the SD card, but I ignored it and just followed the tutorial I was using. Once I opened up my Homebrew for the first time, I discovered that my New 2DS XL, which had been refurbished by Nintendo themselves, had someone else's Homebrew on the SD card! I got rid of some of it, and updated the version of mGBA they had on there, but that was kind of funny.
    Also, does Daedalus require a specific crack to work? I tried to use it with my Steelhax, and the thing would just freeze whenever I tried to load it.

    I had been putting off buying one of these for the last few years. Hearing the price drop to 99.99 woke me up. They are definitely on the way out soon so I just ordered one. Thanks for the low down on the homebrew! I can't wait to get mine set up.

    Quick Question, where to buy a brand new $99 New 2DS XL with box?

    • @BallisticGhast6
      @BallisticGhast6 2 года назад +3

      At any store before 2020. Unless you have a time machine, you’re better off buying a used one with some games for $180-250. Some Japanese ones are a bit cheaper though, but then you’ll have to deal with international shipping charges

    • @Olie986
      @Olie986 Год назад +1

      This was specifically around May/June 2020. Nintendo bundled remaining New 2DS XL stock with Mario Kart 7 pre-installed and reduced the price to $99. These sold very quickly, and you are out of luck getting it anywhere near this price now.

    So looking forward to this. I literally did the same thing a few months back.
    Im sure many people have more than 1 3DS. I bought the original on release and later got an Ambassador edition newer one, that i cherish dearly. I homebrewed the original 3DS and ofcourse there are a few downfalls. I spied a cheaper one like the one in your video recently and just had to go all out on it. In terms of my social life, its embarassing how many 3DS games i own...and lets not catalogue my regular DS games.
    Its been rather fun, especially during these quarantine times, to work on a project of putting all my games in one place. And some kind of system in place to backup up my saves two and from my PC. Haven't a few methods and exploring multiple optiosn of it. Its been incredibly fun.
    Even the streaming side was a fun experiment though...my poor wifi =]
    Can i saw the homebrew discord channels are also incredibly helpful whilst also maintaining major paitence with peoples rather ignorant computer questions (mine included)
    Love the idea of backing up all my games and having their saves consistent across device emulators without the need constnatly copy files and stuff.... working on it slowly. Validating all my game installs and checking my saves are all restored....is a long process lol. My major thing i want this for would be hte pokemon games. When you transfer pokemon up a generation to some extent its usually a one way deal. Homebrew has allowed me to backup my pokemon prior to sending them up. Then i can restore. This is all for personal reasons. Its just nice to have the team in the original games.
    PS, going to binge your videos good sir. Your pressence on Spawncast has become part of my sunday ritual. Its so wholesome and great. I like the techie side you bring - the grey area topics and developer knowledge with porting etc

    I really missed my 3DS after giving it away, so I finally decided to replace it with a New 2DS XL :D The prices are absolutely shocking at the moment, going anywhere from £90-140 each. Thankfully a friend sold me his boxed n2DSXL - along with a couple of games and a charging dock! - for only £60 + postage. I'm super psyched and I can't wait to get back into homebrew'ing it up again!
