How to Make Spinach Ohitashi (Japanese Spinach Salad) (Recipe) ほうれん草のお浸しの作り方 (レシピ)
Now I'm gonna surprise my grandma with this. She says I can't cook. She's so gonna be surprised. Thanks for this easy and awesome recipe😊.
Thank you Arko! You can make this! :)
You're gonna make a big mess.
the care japanese put in their food is unmatched
You are so delicate when you stir and place the spinach. I stir things like my food just said something bad about my mother lol 🥊🥊🥊
Hahahahahaha! We film clip by clip, so after whisking, we stop recording. Therefore I can't jump to the next step until Mr. JOC change the angle of the camera... which takes HOURS to film this simple recipe.... I won't be so slow in my real life. LOL.
Haha I understand! Great job, love your videos 💕
There's a reason westerners are referred to as "Barbarians" in Japan.. ;) attention to detail and sensitivity are at another level.
Hahahahaha
@@gregd6022 Haha when it's just me I'll take hours to cook something but i do have to go barbarian mode for guests since they aren't willing to wait sadly!
My mom would make this with frozen spinach! One of my favorite dishes.
So happy you enjoy this dish your mom made! :)
This recipe is vegan friendly as long as you omit the bonito flakes, as they are made of dried fish. I am vegan and I am very excited to try this dish! I might make it wtith dinner tonight. Thank you for the recipe!
I love the fact that you made a vegan option! I always trie to veganize your recipes and this was a lovely video♡
I'm sipping my morning matcha tea while watching you prepare my favorite vegetable. :-) I love how you left the spinach in little bundles. :D

I love all of yours tableware. They are so unique and beautiful. Where do you get them?
I love hijiki(seasoned seaweed)! Do have a vlog on preparing this recipe?
Yes I do! Search Hijiki ☺️
Looks yummy and healthy. Lots of fiber. Watching from Philippines.
Thank you for watching!
Wonderful. I do think the spinach will retain more nutrients if steamed instead of boiled
Audrey Waclik this was just a 60 second blanch, not a boiling
Hi.. can you please give us some ideas of rice seasonings mix (furikake) that we can make at home?
Looks so yummy!
Thank you!!!

Will the spinach last for a few days in the fridge?
I prepare my spinach the same way. I must try this recipe, it looks delicious.
Hope you enjoy the recipe!
Thank you!
Hello, new subscriber here. This is a very beautiful dish, especially in those pretty ceramic bowls. Will you kindly say where these can be procured? Or name the brand?
Welcome to JOC! I bought them in Japan - Tokyo's kitchen town called Kappabashi: www.justonecookbook.com/tokyo-kappabashi-kitchenware-town/
How long can we keep this in fridge?
For how long we can keep it in the fridge?
Thanks
How long can I keep this in the fridge? (for meal prep) Thanks for the nice and easy recipe! :)
About three days.
This looks great!! I’m going to add this to my 御節 table! Speaking of which, can you do a Japanese New Years Foods series??!😃😉よろしくね!
Hi Yosh! I have shared majority of osechi recipes on the blog and some have videos on RUclips. Check “Japanese New Year” playlist. ❤️
Just One Cookbook Thank you! I’ll have another look!!
love it mam
Thx!
Hello! Can I reuse that konbu for dashi? Thank you :)
Don't u just hate it that today's fresh bunch spinach comes with the roots cut off. Back in the day they would pull the whole plant out as opposed today. Now when it harvested they cut it at the stem & leave the root in the soil for a 2nd crop. Meanwhile u have to pick out 1 leaf at a time after the ice bath. Ogoto, ne. (tedious). Plus we eat the very bottom of the stem & the pink part of the root. It's sweet.
I like spinach but it's a pain to make nihon-jin style. But I still do.
Do you need to wait for the sauce to cool down before pouring on spinach?
How does this taste like? Can we substitute spinach with leeks?
Hello. What can be a good substitute to mirin?
Do you have a recipe for pickled sushi ginger???
Hi, what type of mirin should i use? I’m still confuse because there are brands that mention mirin but its sweet seasoning. Help 😅
Can this be applied to other green veggies, such as Yu choy?
what is the alternative of usukuchi soy sauce?
deliciousssssssssss
Thank you Andrea!
yuuummmm......
Is it okay to let it soak overnight? It is super hot where i live (37-39C)
Hi Ima! Yes, please store in the fridge. You can keep it up to 3 days.
Just One Cookbook thanks, Nami san. I don’t think it would last more than 24 hrs in my house. My whole family loves horenso. If i were to make this dish, i would have to make double so everyone got his/her share of the side dish. Horenso gomaae also disappear very quickly.
how long this can be kept?
맛있겠다~~^^♡♡👍🏿👍🏿
what sauce is it? ponzu? Thanks.
How to make rice vinegar?
how long can you keep it for in the fridge
You can keep Spinach Ohitashi in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Looks delicious!
Jā mata ne!
Arigato! Matane~~~!
Can i replace the mirin by something else? We dont have that where i live.. ( if so same quantity?)
You can make mirin:
5 tablespoons (65g) sugar
1/2 cup (120 ml) sake
Bring to boil over medium heat and ensure the sugar has dissolved.
You can substitute mirin with sake and sugar, although it won’t be exactly the same. The ratio of sake and sugar is 3 to 1. For example, mix ¾ cup (or 1 Tbsp) good quality drinking sake with ¼ cup (or 1 tsp) granulated sugar. More about mirin here: www.justonecookbook.com/mirin/
Just curious why was the spinach put in cold water?
To stop it from cooking further (the amount of time is critical to have taste and texture just right, but that's by Japanese standards).
Do you have a cookbook?
I have an ebook selling on my website ☺️
Instead of cooling I prefer to eat hot...is it ok ?
Sure!
Thanks, it's healthy and delicious..I subscribed
Is this served cold or hot?
Cold or room temp, not hot.
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
どうも
Now I get why are Japanese so fit.
Isn't that horenzo? Not a spinach :/
WTF i got so lost
