I don't mind sulfates with locs, I feel you need a gentle sulfate to cleanse your locs I think it removes the build up better ❤️ I'm going to try the carols daughters shampoo, I have a coupon from CVS for $2 and a 35% off any product and they let you use both together... and yes I love your video content so I would love to see your least fav shampoos
As long as the shampoo has coco-betaine in it which suds up don’t need sulfates it will get the hair clean most sulfate free shampoos have that ingredient
@@LisePlansandJournals I don’t have any build up on my locs, I was just referring to a gentle sulfate shampoo to help remove build up…such natural oils, the environment…and so on.
Thanks for making this video! I'm trying to get my scalp under control and have been using a couple of different shampoos to see what works best... none that are on this list. I'm so intrigued by the Carol's Daughter.
I finally receive and try my Wash Day Delight shampoo, and I love it. I love the smell. It smell is clean as you described. You can feel your hair/locs clarified at the same time soft and light as feathers! Thank you for your review on this product 💕
Thank you! I'm 8 months in and I've been looking for another shampoo. You are soooooo right, the Sisterlock website sucks!!!!! I almost purchased the Carols Daughter Wash Day shampoo but changed my mind. I'm going to give it a try and Soak and Float Lush Bar for dry itchy scalp. I have Adult acne in my hair and face. I meant to comment on your Acne video. I pray that I will find what works for me. Thanks for always sharing!!!
Hi,Nina i know this is a old post but, i am 9 months in my journey and I have 4c hair thick and a little coarse. My hair and scalp always been on the dry side. But been using the sisters loc shampoo and it is drying out my hair really bad and making my ends brittle and sheds feel like its not growning eith because of the dryness I need something natural with a tiny bit of moisturizer hopefully the carols daughter works. I tried telling my consultant but she still say I use that you know your hair and what it likes. Dislike the sisterloc shampoo.
Ayyyy, I love the Nigeria reference! I'm from Nigeria but currently live in Central Europe where I've just finished a master's degree. 😊 Interesting topic in today's video. I'll look out for some of the shampoos you mentioned, as I've almost run out of my current shampoo (Dr. Bronner's) and am willing to try a different brand.
@@Niaimani92 I quite like it. My hair feels softer and clarified after using it. I also like that it's as light as water, so not much chance of build-up. It's the second shampoo I've used on my locs, so I don't have a wealth of experience. I'm open to trying out a few other brands.
I do have a Lush store in my town. Naperville IL. Nia, I just purchased the Lush “Honey I washed My Hair Shampoo Bar” & Tin Box. Can’t wait to use it. I’m also loving you Pink Loc Sweatshirt... it took 2-1/2 Weeks to arrive...
Thank you for this video 😊 Weird... We have Neutrogena brand here (France), but the Neutrogena shampoo is not available 🤔 It doesn't even appear on the French website.
I’m going to purchase this Carol’s Daughter Wash Delight. Amazon also sells the one with Rose water so I’m conflicted. Because I’m only 3 months in, I have been using the SL starter shampoo. It’s ok; I feel like I have to use a lot of it to get my scalp clean. I would be interested in hearing what your least favorite shampoos are for SL. I purchased Taliah W. Herbal Stimulating shampoo but haven’t used it yet.
I will try to get that video out soon! I also just purchased the Carols Daughter Rose Water Shampoo. I've only used it once, but as of now, I still prefer the original.
The black soap and oil are so good! I kept using the oil after getting locked and it’s light and perfect. The shampoo came after I was locked so I didn’t get to try it until recently and it’s fantastic
i’m starting my loc journey tomorrow (DIY) and i have been searching for good shampoos that will help my beginner stages . do u believe that the carols daughter wash day delight would be acceptable for my starter microlocs? if not could you drop some names that i can look into.
Hi Kayla! Thank you so much for you comment! When I was at the beginning stages I pretty much only used the sisterlocks starter shampoo, which is known for roughing up the locs, and helping them loc. Even though you are diying your locs, you can purchase the Sisterlocks shampoo on their website. I will say many people do not like that shampoo, but it did help my locs solidify. I apologize for not having very much more to add when it comes to shampoo recommendations for starter locks =/
Someone suggested on another channel suggested using a good clarifying shampoo that is a clear color because opaque shampoos typically have added emollients and humectants in it that can build up on your hair.
@@Niaimani92 You must be psychic, that's exactly what I'm using! It's been ok but these locs are feeling the need for a deep cleanse. The Carol's Daughter shampoo sounds promising AND I can get it here in the UK.

If Locs aren’t meant to have product in them, what’s all this intense build up you’re trying to remove? Genuine question. Thanks.
Probably gel...oil... lol many people that have locs use some type of gel or oil....@LisePlansandJournals

I started using the Carol’s daughter as a loose natural and continued using after locking my hair. Still a favorite!

Can you review Melanin Haircare's African Black Soap shampoo for locs? Curious to know if that would be a good option now that her product is in Ulta.

You said the “Lemongrass shampoo does not last very long”. Do you have to use a lot and run out of it fast?
I feel like I did, I used it a long time ago. I possibly could've been distributing incorrectly, but I remember it going quickly.
