If you are remote (don't require actually commuting to Denver), then the best place is to live within 90 minutes of Denver. That way, you can enjoy the amenities of a large city like Denver without the big city mess that goes with that. I'm in northern Colorado Springs and love it. I moved to Colorado for similar reasons - when we lived in Florida, we would fly into Denver and go skiing during Spring Break. Every visit,, we would say something like "we should move here" - so one year, we did.

I definitely don’t like there politics!

Understandable as that is a highly charged topic in all states currently. Good news is the diversity in Colorado provides plenty of areas/towns to meet most peoples interest, regardless of politics. Happy to go offline and help if you have questions about specific areas.

Actually Monument is part of the Lewis-Palmer School district, which has positive ratings. No school zone or individual school is perfect, but based on the ratings provided by Niche.com and GreatSchools.org, along with positive comments provided by most parents on the forums, the schools in Monument appear to be quite good with an “A” rating on Niche.com

Denver Public Schools are absolutely dysfunctional.

I have heard from families both in the Public school and private school sectors of Denver with pros/cons to each. I highly recommend checking out GreatSchools.org to research which area you are considering and which schools fall into your zone. You can also look into open enrollment to other schools that is the fit for your kid(s). Even the top rated school has its own problems, so meeting the principal of your future school and doing some online research is free and a good first step.

Bill, I hate to disagree with you but there's no way in the world I'd move to Denver. Right now Denver has more illegal immigrants per capita than either New York or Chicago and its straining both the school system and Denver Health (currently holding $10 million of unpaid bills due to the migrants). Add to that the homeless crisis that makes parts of downtown look like San Francisco And the crazed city council members who think "safe injection sites" (supervised places for addicts to go to shoot up) are a great idea and you realize that the Denver of today isn't the same place it was 10 years ago and probably never will be again.
Is I were moving out that way I'd seriously consider looking at Douglas county to the south. But Denver? No way.

Thanks so much for watching and sharing your perspective. Denver has its problems like any larger metro, and I agree that looking outside of Downtown is a good idea for some people. I made the move to Douglas County (about 35 mins outside of downtown) and have been there since 2005 with no regrets. I appreciate your comment, cheers!
