Young Jazz Classics - Grade 3
Paul Murtha has skillfully adapted this monster chart from Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band to a younger level while still maintaining all the intensity and drive of the original. The trombones take the lead at the top followed by the trumpets then saxes, until finally the entire ensemble cuts loose. Includes solos for trumpet and alto sax. Great sounds for young players!

Played this song my first year of jazz. Which was my sophomore year. Played second alto and had the solo, it was great. That was 4 years ago. I just got done playing the professional version last year, second alto again and it was awesome
Thanks for the video!
Pieces like this, force one to admire the arrangement.
The rhythm and flowing harmony, backing and punctuating of each instrument section is so thrilling.
The punctuation and attack keeps one really energised!
Ah, I remember this piece. Played it my freshman year (last year) as vibes, and it was my first piece ever in a jazz band actually. Still love it to this day!
Freshman? isn't that kinda late for this easy of a song, in 8th grade our jazz band picked it up in 2 months and preformed it lol
@@janeasaurus1573 I'm doing it now as a Sophomore.
@@janeasaurus1573 Your band must be good.

Smh low note gang ruins everything wheres the double g
I’m doing this for an audition and I’m rising up from the c at the end to a g above the staff
The original has the double G. This is a version taken down to be doable by most high schools.
Utter bastardization of such a classic chart
Ok bud
nice try?
