- PPZ production presents: Jazz from Gallus Hall (Slovenia) 2017
Ljubljana Academy of Music Big Band is one of the best jazz youth group, under the baton of charismatic leader Matej Hotko. In the year 2017 (December) I invited them again on my elite Jazz from Gallus Hall series production set. They play with technical brilliance along with splendid musicality and poetry. These guys are worth all of our attention. I recorded them along with 14 different cameras. Half of it was motion picture quality with cinematic prime lenses. I hope, you will enjoy this jewel of recording and play.

Alto Solo was killer, love his tone and articulation
This is so good - great performance of Gordon Goodwin's Count Bubba (great chart) and this band is strong in every chair. What fun to listen to!! Thank You!
I'm really channeling my inner 80s Blue Devils. Very tight sound. everybody on the same page. Nice full and round sound
Blue Devils RULE!!!!!! BD for life!
Who the hell would dislike this bro... this is awesome!
Wasn’t quite my tempo.
Heaven! I love it too much. Vive la Bubah!
Yaaa conductor wanted a crack tempo, and they held it for a little, but it dropped at least 15 clicks by the end of the solis
This is one of the best kinds of music in the universe. I LOVE IT!
When I was in 8th grade I got to play in the high school jazz band and we played this piece and it was one of the hardest but most fun and incredible pieces to learn and play. And personally I’d say as a high school we did a crazy good job on it but it’s just crazy how music and jazz especially bring people together and bring joy
8th grade? I can barely play this in 9th!
I had the great opportunity to see Mr.Count Basie and he’s fantastic orchestra one time, and this was on the same level like him and his orchestra, just awesome musicians, this video made this Thursday evening for me :) :) :)
A magnificant and powerful altosax-solo from Matej Hotko!
The altosax solo was played by the amazing Matija Marion :)
@@jostlampretbass Kako je z Marionom? V teh letih se je prekalil v pravega jazzovskega solista. Pozdravi ga.
It was wonderful to see and hear another performance by the Ljubljana Academy of Music Big Band. It was nice to see some of the familiar faces and great to see such talented new performers. Their Jazz pieces are always superb. Primoz my friend you said it best. "They play with technical brilliance along with splendid musicality and poetry. These guys (and gal) are worth all of our attention." Although it was always more entertaining when Matej Hotko conducted standing up.
Just love it. Great playing of the big band. Nice brass section as well. Tight and perfect in time. Congratulations. I think Big Phat Band and Gordon Goodwin must see this
It's rare to find jazz this good in America these days. Bravo! Swingin'!!!
Bro has not listened to unt one o clock
or jazz at lincoln center
or gordons big phat band
or nyo jazz
or grp all star band
and thats barely even scratching the surface
@@V15lol Your comment is based on an unsupported assumption. Bro here has listened to all those recordings you mention, I have them in my music collection. They are mostly from the past. Live jazz in America today is rarely as good as the band in this video. I've heard many and personally played in many college jazz ensembles and the musicians in this video outshine most of them. There was a time when giants were in the land here in the U.S. (Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, Art Blakey, Maynard Ferguson, Count Basie, Oscar Peterson, Chick Corea, etc.). I went to all of their concerts during the later part of their careers. Currently, music needs a re-boot in America whether it's jazz or pop music. Lot's of mediocrity out there with some exceptions of course.
Muy buena versión de este complejo tema de Gordon Goodwin. Excelentes solistas. Gran dirección de la Big Band. Saludos desde Catalonia!
Thanks for the video!
Great, a bit to fast yet the band was up to it.
Not an easy piece to pick!
Amazing wow... I thinks I may like this batter than the big phat band version... truely amazing
Oh yeah -- now that’s it. Jazzzzzzzz.
Getting with the program!!
Woh what a band is this....Great!!!!😍
The "square" formation that the band is in is a common technique for practice; easier to pick out problematic sections/players when theyre either in front, left, or right of you. Interesting that they're arranged this way for a performance
It’s also used in recording setups, there’s a couple videos of Gordon’s band in this formation
One of my new favorite bands
Very good, very tight!1
i love this music
Top!

Its good but It is too fast
try to do better if you can!
Suggestion: Vary your adjectives in your titles. "Amazing" is overused. IF EVERYTHING IS AMAZING, NOTHING IS AMAZING. Used too often, it now sends this message: "The Same Sunny Day After Sunny Day After Sunny Day California Sunshine Boring."
Use Instead: "Compelling" "Lyrical" "Enticing" "Magnetic" "Enthralling" and so forth. And I'm sure you can find even better ones in your thesaurus.
Dear Don. Thanks for suggestion. In my next videos I may even credit you! Take care.
