- Devilishly funky and packed with energy throughout, this chart shows once again that nobody does funky better than Alan. If you loved Two Seconds to Midnight, you're bound to dig Torque. Solos are for trumpet and trombone.
This is the kind of jazz I love. The kind of jazz that goes absolutely wild and has enough attitude to get you hooked all the way through
Fr, most people prefer smooth jazz but this kind is so much more fun!
I met this guy at UNT
Listen to MOANIN' - Charles Mingus
On the actual music copies it says “Please don’t photocopy this music, even if it’s tempting because this piece is so awesome!”
And I mean, he’s right 🤷♂️
@@bubby-fi9mc Too late, our Lab Band director already printed it off and gave us the sheet music and we’re rehearsing it for November 12th
as a bassbone player, I approve
So am I and I too approve
Got to play this my junior year of highschool and senior year for the professional recording. Bass bone part is so much fun, especially the sixtieth runs with bari.
@@douglassisk1929 one of my friends had to play this in eighth grade on a normal trombone
As a tena trombonist I approve as well
I agree
I woke up to Torque playing in my earbuds at like 2 AM and I'm not mad, I guess I listened to so many other jazz songs and this is the one that woke me up.
this is the type of jazz that is appropriate to head bang to
HOLY COW! I have literally listened to this 19 times today! AND ALSO THE BASS TROMBONE PART
Ayo he was acting a fool.but i would have also lol
You know the song is good the whole way through when everyone gives different timestamps.
Alan Baylock has got to be my favorite composer.
Same! Hoping I’ll be able to go to UNT next year since he works there!
That bari player goes several notes lower than the usual bari range, and l am absolutely here for it.
Also, that is one of the crunchiest funk bone solos l have ever heard, and it makes me want to crawl into a hole.
Oh my when it hit that trumpet shake when that trumpeter hit that high note was truly amazing 4:06
That’s not just any trumpeter, that’s Doc Severinsen
Ayo at @4:38 is when the beginning of the shenanigans begin..tbis while song is 🔥🔥🔥 but my god you soul jumps out your body at @4:38 man makes me miss highschool.all we did was play music and cut class..and that trombone solo makes me proud.and the bassline omfg
@@DEFIB7 tbis is the 645th time i heard this song and dammit its still absolute fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥
have to admit i am a little jaded when someone says oh that's great, i go uh hum, HOWEVER you were dead on spot! and the intro as well. great round, full, but not too edgy on the bass trb. great ensembles, solos and great building writing!
4:57 oh that bari 😍😍😍
so crunchy. it compliments bass bone perfectly
I played this in my middle school last year. 2nd cajon. LOVED IT.
Middle school😭
middle school is crazy this song is at least highschool level
If a middle school band played anything but a highly watered down version of this, l would literally poop myself.
Wooooow.....Reminds me of slo funk by Bob mintzer...just great
I literally listen to this nonstop
same bruh
I Am Sharing This With Everybody On My Contacts!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥This Song Has A Sick Beat!!!!!
This beat and baseline is next dimensional.. Outta this damn 🌎
Oh that bass bone
T O R Q U E
Why aren't there any comments? Except for this one.
Michael Walterman that's a good question.
Because all of us are enjoying this godlike song
Craziest double d at the end
Thats what I call Jazz!!!!
this is so awesome
so wow 🥺
this is amazing work top to bottom. Nice bone super tight trumpet. Aloha
That syncopated bari sax at the end tho💀💀💀
When Doc switches modes at 3:48 and then makes that weird noise at 4:00! It’s an affirmation of why he’s my fave trumpet soloist.
This is Alex Norris on the trumpet solo...seems like you might have a new favorite trumpet soloist.
That's not Doc. He is featured on this record but not on this particular tune.
lead trumpet at 5:34 is SO GOOD
What about that lead bone part highe E flat
Utterly amazing
WHAT ABOUT THAT ENDING IN THE TRUMPET
As a middle school professional pianoist, me and my 15 people band can learn this in 5 days in mastery, I need a bigger challenge, like el abrazo a such sweet thunder 😂
🤓🤓🤓
U wish
Not kidding
I went to one of their concerts in New Orleans their best in the u.s. for middle school
I'll just say this... Beneficial delusions can be a great asset to young musicians.
So no one is talking about the end at 6:20???? CHILLS
YEAH MAN!!!
Não sei pq esse vídeo não quer carregar mais... os outros sim... só esse que não vai..

playing this in the jazz band at my school
needless to say it’s the hardest song i’ve ever attempted to play
edit: nvm delta city blues is way harder
I’m playing this in lab Band and I’m on the 1st trombone part and yes it’s pretty difficult but so is most of our charts
Who's the trombone soloist?
Ben Patterson.
Anyone by chance have the first trumpet part? I'm most likely going to play this next year for Jazz band and i think i might need some extra practice lol.
Did you ever get it??
@@flexx3368 unfortunately I did not.
@@ciphernova2383 Next year... Being 2020... Sorry to hear that, I was 5th trumpet on this song in my jazz band and covid canceled our tour :(
@@ciphernova2383 Sorry to hear that dude
Does anyone know where to get a score for this? I can’t find it anywhere
you have to pay $85
Yeah score’s aren’t exactly

One year later and I still find this comment funny when I see it on this video
