@@ryancols To be fair both Luke and Anakin needed rescuing multiple times by others, and were shown to need other characters for support. They both failed with CONSEQUENCES that changed the stakes [allowing Dooku to escape, allowing Han to be taken away by Fett]. Anakin ultimately loses to Obi-Wan through his own arrogance. Luke defeats the Emperor through his own moral fortitude, and is saved by Vader. He is totally outclassed by both except for when tapping into the dark side. Rey on the other hand, 'fails' to get Luke's help, but still saves the remaining rebels by the end - and the ones killed were the result of Finn and Poe's failed plan. Rey beats Palpatine by HERSELF using 'all the Jedi knowledge' and then is brought back to life by Ben Solo. So, no. We can imagine whatever we want as the mental anguish the character goes through internally, it is their outward actions that manifest their struggle. When Rey has a little cry she just carries as if nothing happened moments later. That is not compelling - which is why some of the audience fails to identify with Rey. Both Luke and Anakin were defined in their first movie by their relations with their family, while Rey wasn't shown with anyone who knew her [except Plutt]. Both Luke and Anakin were repeatedly underestimated by hero characters, not just villains. They weren't immediately respected and cherished by everyone.
It "doesn't matter to them" because it's not about the films, it's about the IDEOLOGIES and agendas being pushed that they like. And anyone saying anything contrary is a hate filled "ist" of varying description. Woke needs to be stomped out of existence. Dave Chappelle and Rickey Gervais are a great beginning. Let's keep it up!
"I never heard anyone say the prequels should be exactly like the OT" - Yes, because they also didn't try to be the OT. Disney Star Wars however did try to be exactly like the OT. Such a argument can only show up when someone tries to ape something, but do it poorly.
@@ryancols Like how exactly? Did they have a orphan boy that gets picked up to fight for a rebellion? Was there an evil Empire dominating the Galaxy? Did the evil Empire have planet destroying weapons? Was the force users so nonexistent in the Galaxy that only the Emperor and his second hand man was known users of the force? Sorry but you are just wrong. The prequels reference the OT but it isn't trying to be a carbon copy of it like the sequels. The sequels are the OT but with a new and younger cast. With bigger guns and a super weapon that can shoot down even more planets then before.

Now, I want a whole series of videos entitled "Doesn't Matter To Them" that addresses the canonical idiocy of other ruined fandoms with same satisfying redundancy in this one.
@Tom Ffrench Endgame is very weak as a movie, it is "marvelous" as the last movie of a series, but as a separated movie Joker is much better. Also, a movie be inspired by other movies or even be a remake of an old movie is not a flaw, Star Wars, Scarface, and The Magnificent Seven were even bigger "rip-offs".
Tom Ffrench It is in the top three probably only beaten out by Ford v Ferrari. It is in the running for best written comic book movie of all time. It deserves all the praise it gets, Joker is not overrated.
As opposed to the Fandom Menace who are all regurgitating the same talking points and beating the same dead horse in video after video after video...totally not NPCs, nope....

This video is the absolute best and most clear exposition of what modern Disney Star Wars is and what the social fracture surrounding it is all about. Any outsider to Star Wars wanting to understand the current turmoil should watch this video and understanding will become clear as day.
The Force Awakens: SOFT REBOOT TIME The Last Jedi: OPPOSITE DAY The Rise Of Skywalker: OPPOSITE OPPOSITE DAY IN BIZARRO WORLD well... that escalated quickly
Fuck this 'soft reboot' shit. You can't simultaneously be both a reboot of AND a sequel (or prequel) to another movie/movie franchise. Pick ONE. : P (I'm looking at you, too, "Fury Road," "Jurassic World" and "Dark Fate.")
The prequels were bad if not mediocre. It was obvious that Lucas just went fucking wherever he wanted with them with little to no direction. However, like you said, there's a lot of potential in it and at the very least it was backed by some actual vision, incompetent as it may have been. It was bad, but it bad in a way that felt like a person with ideas was making it. They just screwed it up. The sequels on the other hand are fucking trash. Cinematic potato chips. Stuff that just tastes good which you shovel in your mouth without thinking about it. There's no Passion behind them. No substance. Consume and buy more. Eat it, you fucking sheep. Stop using your brain. Consume. Buy. Get hyped. Make more money for us. Anyone with two brain cells can tell that's what's going on, and it's completely shameless.

2019 was the year Mandalorian and Fallen Order came out, and the vast majority of fans liked it, proving that SW fans aren't a bunch of factions impossible to please - there is a way to make Star Wars that unites the fanbase.
Im on the 4th episode so far (please dont spoil) and I love it, it isnt perfect by any means but I love the western setting. In the 4th episode, Ive really liked the more nature focused opening and the conflict. I really liked it because this is what I think the sequel trilogy should be in a nutshell. The galaxy is rebuilding, a threat emerges (oh no, the sith have somehow returned) and the new heroes must protect it. This is an extremelly basic outline, but it pretty much is what the first movie should be about, with the other following the SW structure. Second has that big fall, prehaps the Starkiller and third has heroes rising back for the final fight. Also, I dont like Fallen Order, so far Ive done the BP-1 mission and am heading fir the Zeffo planet, but I just cant bring myself to enjoy it. It just feels like a retelling of Kanans story (hiding on a mining planet, friends death makes him rebel, rebuilding the order - its very similar).
@@dustinakadustin thanks, to be honest I was actually thinking about it when I saw your comment. By the way, would you hate it if the maneuvr Holdo got repeated in the alternative trilogy, but was actually explained and stuff (it would make sense and wouldnt break the lore with kamikaze tactics being most efficient) - I really want to know how would people react to it.
The "doesn't matter" type of thinking and not knowing how stories and story lines DEVELOP is part of the "dumbing down" of America and the world. These folks have NO IDEA of how much they DIDN'T LEARN in their school years. English, grammar, how to WRITE a proper paper.....have all been needed to develop good writing abilities...which ARE what FILMS are made of, but not in many of todays movies, especially the last 3 SWs. Even cursive writing, and music and art help develop the brain, the computer does not. The computer has the "knowledge", we forget MOST of what we read (proven). But, physically DOING skills teaches the brain and the person valuable lessons they never forget. The computer has taken many of those necessary skills away. The "powers that be", which include Disney KNOW THIS! They WANT idiots and servants, because they are part of the "globalist so called elites", who don't give a damn about "the people".
As lucas said in his interview with James Cameron (paraphrasing here): In film, you have to maintain the immaculate Universe in which your story exists. As soon as you break it, people stop caring about the characters and worlds you craft.
@Tom Ffrench while the original trilogy had issues (not film is perfect) it didn't have as many as the Sequel Trilogy. The number of in-lore errors, plot conveniences, plot armors, characters de-development, is so big, that the entire immersion is broken when watching those movies. You may hate this guy's viewpoints, but he is absolutely right about all of that. And i'm not a follower of him. This is in fact, the first time I've seen any of his videos. RUclips just recommended it to me.
@Tom Ffrench lol what? every single "nitpick" in the doesn't matter section its about the movies or the characters in the movies. What are you even arguing there?
@Tom Ffrench lololololol non of those things he criticized made sense? In fact, there are a lot more stuff that he doesn't mention that doesn't make sense. 90% of the current cannon (books and comic books) is trying to explain away all the plot holes created by the new movies. it is fine if you liked the movie, but just because you are saying "it makes sense", does not make it so. Please do answer me every one of the questions he made there. The ones you claim are explained in the movies. I will patiently away for you to blow my mind with how it makes sense.
Tom: it all matters and man, what a horrible pile of poo the new series is. It feels trite and small and there are no deep connections that make sense transcendent sense to move the story in a human way. It is all so temporal and weak.
@Tom Ffrench : The one that didn't payed attention was you. I have a sincere question for you and your sincere answer to this. To me, TFA have a lot of "because yes" stupid moments for people who don't like to use their brains; it's a whole stupid "because yes" movie that needs a lot of argumentative explanations from them. Here is an example that many people overlook and my question:- In a village of poor scavengers who spend all day looking for a nut, or a microchip with a little value to be able to eat, constantly working boning old machines.... Why did the first scavenger that found the brand new, completely intact and running the Droid BB the one he was mistreating handed it to Rey without fighting and without discussing giving it to her for free? Disney and Jar Jar Abrahams answer : Because.....yes. Lazy stupid writers.
In the same way JJ Abrams previously made Star Trek for people who don't like Star Trek. These people are shills. Nobody is approaching any of these franchises with the respect or care to attention they deserve. And none deserves respect more than Star Wars. The brand is tarnished now. The only solution is a rest, from movie theaters at least. The powers behind them need time to regroup and realized exactly how they monumentally screwed up so that they do it better next time. The same as for Dr Who and Star Trek. All of them need some time in the cooler.
As long as the films suck up a billion dollars every couple of years, why would they care? You and the video maker are upset and it's understandable. But why should they care when even with all the bitching, videos, and middling critical response, the movies still make a billion without even trying hard?
I miss the old EU. Kotor, the interesting and unique backstories that people came up with for characters like IG-88, Hammerhead, and so many others, The interesting new characters created like Maras Jade, HK-47, Asharad Hett, etc. All these things that made Star Wars so interesting are gone now because of Disney, like tears in the rain.
I don't understand why Disney didn't focus the trilogy around the concepts that Kreia was trying to teach us in KOTOR 2. I think this trilogy would have been better if it focused on the idea that the force had to be destroyed in order for there to truly be peace in the galaxy. Kylo could have turned away from Luke not because he uncharacteristically tried to kill him in his sleep, but Because Kylo uncovered the teachings of Kreia ( maybe recorded by The Exile) and was convinced that the force needed to be destroyed because of who his grandfather was (ignoring the good he did and instead focusing on the bad) and the fact that he could sense that the dark-side was still out there despite Luke protesting that his father restored balance. Rey could be the one who tries to bring Kylo back to the light and stop him from destroying the force until she also realizes that ultimately the force is the major problem and it needs to be destroyed. Once either Rey and Kylo or just one of them is successful in destroying the force that's what ends the Sith and along with it the darkness. The Jedi are no more but now they aren't required to be protectors, everyone is on an equal playing field. It fits that sort of deconstructionist attitude Disney had when they allowed Rian Johnson to direct the last jedi, but you can tweak things to make it less of a slap in the fact to the OT and PT. Keep Rey a nobody destruct the fact that despite overthrowing the Empire the First Order just took it's place within an incredibly short timeline. I don't know, it's real hard to save this dumpster fire of a trilogy without scrapping everything- even the good ideas like Finn- except I wouldn't have settled on Finn as a name that was kind of stupid.. It's fine to deconstruct a franchise, you just have to put something forward that has a point and ends up having a more profound message than what came before without shitting all over what happened in the past while not learning from it. Trashing the past only to make the same mistakes- or in some cases worse mistakes- only makes you look like an idiot.
The prequels had a story to tell and they told that story on screen. When Force Awakens dropped and people questioned all the blatant holes we were told to go read a book that would explain all the plot holes to us. Mark Hamill said it best during an interview before Last Jedi hit theaters. That he didn't feel his character was fleshed out in the film and that it was up to books and video games to detail Luke's life. Prompting Kathleen to laugh, stand up, grab a mic and say that Luke had a story in the film and all was well. Of course she lied her ass off so fans wouldn't skip the theatrical release of Last Jedi. That's the Disney Star Wars strategy, to lie and push books
the sequels turned luke and vader into nothing characters...palpatine coming back totally ruined anakin's arc and sacrifice and meaning of the prequels and last jedi shat on luke two of the most iconic 70's and 80's characters ever the standards for hero and villain two top 10 hero and villains in fiction period....wow...I can't even...
Agreed. You can't just have "The First Order has risen from the ashes of the Empire" in your opening crawl and not explain how that happened. In the Disney trilogy, JJ wanted everything in "The Force Awakens" to be exactly the same as it was in "A New Hope" right down to the Republic sending only a dozen X-Wings to take out the Planetkiller base. That's ridiculous. All that does is raise more questions. What exactly IS the Republic? Were they nothing more than those six planets that the First Order destroyed? Are they THAT pathetic?
In some ways, the Prequels were better...mainly in that they have a cohesive narrative. But they still sucked for a ton of other reasons, just like the Sequels. The Sequels only succeeded in that they LOOKED like Star Wars...costumes, weapons, ships, etc. And Kylo was kinda awesome, although largely wasted. But yeah, both series sucked hard.
Nah. 75% of the story in the prequel era that was WORTH seeing takes place in media outside of the 3 feature films. Of course, even the prequels' paltry existance still seems to supercede the sequels...which didnt really have much of a story at all....but, storytelling and characterization in both follow up trilogies have been garbage compared to the originals. Tv series, stand alone films, novels, comics, and even video games have told better stories than the last 6 saga films 🤢
@@GihirahimOfTheShadow you realize we can dislike things without feeling suicidal, right? Might be a crazy concept for someone like you, who bases their entire identity around the things they like, and goes ape shit when those things are criticized.
No, the sequel trilogy did have a story and message. Unfortunately, due to identity politics, it retroactively destroyed legacy characters and their accomplishments. So yes, this cultural vandalism has a message - diminishes the past and repudiate what the fan base and modern culture valued about the original trilogy.
@@buttbuttwhat1 What the prequels lacked the series Clone wars had zero issue coloring between the lines and strengthening the whole trilogy. Best of luck if they tried a series like that for the Sequel trilogy.
Correction, the Sequels did have a story but corporate meddling came and killed the chance it had. The Prequels had heart and soul put into it, becoming an actually good series that was thrown around because oeople took things at face value. Epusode 2 is definitely not good but Anakin is a pent up teen that has been suppressed by their wider group and family and just wants to express his emotions.
This really showed that this is Lucas' vision. Remove his influence and the greater picture gets lost. All the best Star wars material either fits itself neatly in Lucas' story and/or has Lucas directly involved. Lucas offered his help but Disney rejected it for reasons God only knows...and now we have the best example of what happens when you take the Lucas outta Star wars.
@Atomic Half Lives Matter So true, and no matter how many times the lesson is taught on socialism, a new support always seems to arise for it. Or, as Maya Angelou said, "There's a world of difference between truth and facts. Facts can obscure the truth."
one thing thats great is the new fans will never be able to get out of the old fans shadows....like the new trilogy will always be compared to the other 2 since it didn't separate itself positively to stand on its own and older fans will never let these people have peace of mind..which is what they deserve for enjoying shit ….the original trilogy fans only had the three films and christmas special from 1977-1987 really...that was it and no one to debate over which trilogy is better just three films and a garbage special...they didn't have to worry about the internet or anything...
“I like all Star Wars films cause it’s Star Wars, and that’s enough” Aight so if someone served you rotten food would you be okay with it because it’s still food?
Except that the Sequels aren't rotten. They may not be to everyone's taste, true, but they're not rotten. And I prefer the taste of the Sequels to the Prequels (not that the Prequels were rotten or foul-tasting). Just my personal taste.
I think a good analogy would be yes, as long as you are starved. We've been starved of Star wars movies for a decade, so yes they like it even if it's rotten because they were starved of it
"If someone served you rotten food would you be ok because its still food.." I would never order a Big Mac meal and then complain that it wasn't a Michelin Star restaurant quality meal. Here is the awful truth: Star Wars is not Dune, it is not The Culture series nor is it The Foundation. The Star Wars universe was never some beautifully crafted piece of world building. It was just a back drop for a family space opera from the 1970's. It just so happens that it was visualised by some of the most talented artist and effects people that Hollywood has ever employed. At this stage of the debacle you might as well get angry about Friday 13th part XII.
@Jacob J479 "...ever growing mindless consumer" Sure. That is why the mindless consumers lapped up the retarded DC Extended Universe. Except of course they didn't, did they. Yes it was. For Disney AND for Lucas. He largely ignored the EU, too. And was going to throw Mara Jade in the trash also. In his mind, Luke never marries or has kids. His sequel trilogy would have been shit also.
gonna be honest, you shouldnt retell those stories. Take inspiration, yes, but the restrictions these writers had when making the stories were wholesome and the new trilogy should focus on the new cast, rather than having the old characters the stars of the show (which even the sequels didnt understand)
"The FIRST ORDER reigns." So, they have total control of the galaxy? Wait, rising tyranny? So, not in control? The Last Jedi opening text is contradictory. It doesn't matter to them.
Since when were they in control of the galaxy anyway? It's been established that they were much smaller and less powerful than the Empire in Force Awakens. Their Death Star knock off goes down and they never build anything that big or powerful again. They lost overall in Force Awakens so where did they get such power or influence from? The Empire had to spend its second movie regaining its lost influence after the initial defeat. The First Order just pulls a no u out of its ass and is suddenly in control.

@@razkableI agree. But I think it would have been entirely possible to have done the sequel well. For example, if they desperately wanted to take Luke out of the picture for a time, instead of making him a miserable hermit, how about he became so passive that he felt using his power was bad or that the only way to feel balance was to be completely non-violent. Then they could have brought in the idea of grey jedi and then "time for the jedi to die" could have worked as we experienced a new order of more balanced approach. But yeah, it would have smarter if they had jumped away, but instead they were cocky and thought they could do whatever with the characters

I like explanations. No explanation for where the First order came from, or how the First Order became so powerful? Answer: Rae Sloane survived the Battle of Endor and went to the Unknown Regions together with Brendol Hux after the Battle of Jakku. How did Germany became so powerful after WW1? This is not a problem really. No explanation for why the New Republic isn't fighting the First Order? Answer: In short, Mon Mothma demilitarized the New Republic. Internal political struggle between Centrists and Populists didn't help the situation, neither did secret First Order agents in the Senate. No explanation for why the Resistance can't get more support from other allies? Answer: The most important reason is probably the fact that Leia was revealed to be Darth Vader's daughter. Imagine Hitler's daughter running for President in the USA. The political mess that was ongoing in the New Republic is another reason. No explanation for where the First Order got their resources to turn a planet into a superweapon? Answer: First Order Centrist agents used the Amaxine Warriors as proxies to fund major crime syndicates. Income from mostly smuggling then found it's way to the First Order. Much of the work to build Starkiller Base was already done, as the planet Ilum had been excavated by the Empire starting around 18 BBY.
No explanation for how Rey knows how to use all kinds of force powers without any training? Answer: How did Luke learn force choke between ESB and ROTJ? Who trained him? Let's be serious, the picture showing in the background during this question is Rey using the Jedi Mind Trick. Probably one of the easiest things to learn. It happens all around us even in the real world. Why does Rey know how to speak wookie and droid automatically? Answer: It's been a thing in Star Wars for some time. I think it would slow down the movies too much to have C-3PO translate every scene in every movie. Not really a problem. How would Han Solo ever lose the Millenium Falcon? Answer: It was stolen by Gannis Ducain. Would Han really run away from Leia and his own son? Seems out of character? Answer: He did run away from his friends on Yavin 4 so I don't know about that. Yes, he returned. But he returned in TFA aswell. No explanation for how Luke's lightsaber was found? Answer: I don't have an answer for this. Most people would call this Anakin's lightsaber. They killed han Solo like a doofus? Answer: I didn't mind it. It made sense to me when I watched TROS. The OT is still there to enjoy. I know you guys prefer the theatrical version, so remember that George made Han Solo looking like a doofus stepping on Jabba's tail. Luke isn't in the movie? Answer: Yes he is. R2-D2 isn't in the movie? Answer: Yes he is. The hero beats the villain in hand to hand combat without any training? Answer: The hero had trained with her staff her entire life. The hero had shitloads of midichlorians. :) The villain was mortally wounded by Chewie's bowcaster, and probably not 100% focused after just having murdered his father. No explanation for why despite the Resistance winning in the last movie, and blowing up the First Order's biggest weapon, the First Order is still so much more powerful than the Resistance? Answer: Same thing between ANH and ESB right? Why would Luke leave a map to find him if all he wanted to do was hide and die? Answer: My take on that is that Luke hadn't fully committed to that idea. He left the door open. Force ghost Luke confess that he was wrong. Why would Luke throw his lightsaber over a cliff? Answer: He was wrong. I understand why people have a problem with that scene (I didn't mind it though). The final battle on Crait should make up for all the dissapointment. Why is Luke such an awful jerk? Answer: Is he? A bit grumpy maybe. Seriously, going really slow is the Resistance strategy? Answer: They didn't have fuel for a hyperspace jump. It looks slow but it's probably very fast. Hard to get a sense of speed in space and no speedometers visible. But maybe they could've escaped during the first jump if they had went straight to ludicrous speed. The Resistance leader won't explain her plan? Answer: That's how military organisations work. Admirals usually don't explain anything. They give orders and soldiers follow them. Maybe they were concerned about being infiltrated since they were being tracked so easily? Force Ghosts can interact with physical objects now? Answer: Let's keep the force exactly the same. Never let it evolve. The only force abilities that should be allowed are the ones seen in ANH. The Emperor shooting lightning in ROTJ breaks canon. My take on force ghost interaction is that it's only possible on certain places (Jedi Temples etc), and under special circumstances (force ghost interacting with force sensitive). The Dyad is a new concept. It was a bit weird, but Star Wars already is. This (space Leia)? Answer: I agree it looked a bit cheesy, but it's just a force pull. Surviving in space, yeah I think it's possible to imagine the force creating a barrier for a short period of time. The following shot when Leia enters the blown up ship and splitting the hologram of The Supremacy in half was beautyful foreshadowing.
Luke trying to kill his nephew in his sleep? Answer: That was from Ben's point of view. When Luke tell the story he had a brief instinct to do so, that immediately went away. Then it was already too late. This (green milk)? Answer: It was a funny scene. I personally don't drink milk at all (it's for babies), but I get it why all the dairy fairy's getting so upset. It hits too close to home. Cows look f-n weird too, and we lock them up in dark barns and milk the crap out of them with machines. Hyperspace being used as a weapon? Answer: A last resort suicide attack unlikely to succeed. Happens all the time on planet earth, but not a cost effective way for any organized military. The First Order's endless supply of vehicles and weapons, even after their fleet is decimated? Answer: Yes, the First Order took a heavy hit when The Supremacy was destroyed, along with about 20 Resurgent-class Star Destroyers. The Finalizer survived though (crew of 80 000). After the Battle of Crait there are at least 17 Resurgent-class Star destroyers and 1 Mandator IV-class Siege Dreadnaught mentioned in canon material. Luke being an illusion that can apparently bring physical objects with him? Answer: If you accept force ghosts and telepathy, maybe projection isn't that big of a deal? The dice was also an illusion - it disappeared. It was only Leia that physically held it, so my belief is that this is similar to force ghosts being able to interact under very specific circumstances. Luke just dying because: reasons? Answer: I think that the effort just was too much. To project yourself over such great distance. Compare with Baby Yoda getting all exhausted and falling asleep after using the force. Despite abandoning her training Leia is a Jedi Master? Answer: Well, the Jedi Council is long gone so I'm thinking they make their own rules in a way. Luke is considered a Jedi in ROTJ, and we haven't seen him training or constructing his green lightsaber. People would tear the OT apart if it was released today. No explanation for how The Emperor survived the Death Star explosion? Answer: Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I'm a big LOTR fan and I never hear anyone complaining about how Sauron survived. No explanation for how The Emperor made it back to his secret Snoke cloning facility? Answer: Not in detail as of right now. But this is one of the most interesting subjects of TROS to speculate on. I'm sure there will be an answer soon. No explanation for how The Emperor had a family and with whom? Answer: Money and power gets anyone laid, but I bet my money it's Sly Moore. Or maybe he just raped some random poor woman. No explanation for how The Emperor had the resources and manpower to build a super fleet of Death Star Destroyers inside a space glacier? Answer: Those cultists on the grandstands probably had something to do with that. It's also 31 years since the Battle of Endor so The Emperor had plenty of time. Jedi are now able to force heal other beings, calling into question why this ability wasn't used to save countless characters in previous Star Wars films? Answer: Padmé and Shmi are easy to answer. Force Heal is a light side power, and Force Drain is dark side. Anakin was leaning to heavily into the dark side. Qui-Gon probably was dead for too long. Luke didn't know about this power at all because he only trained on lifting rocks on Dagobah. It's possible Obi-Wan didn't know about this either, he was only a padawan at the time. Jedi can now send objects and themselves anywhere through the force, so what's the point of spaceships again? Answer: The Force Skype is connected to this Dyad thing. It's pretty far out, even to be Star Wars, but I'm pretty sure it only apply to Rey and Kylo. And it's not like they really travel to another place. Disclaimer: I liked the World between worlds. Rey is in love with a guy who murdered his own dad and tried to murder his own mom? Answer: It sounds weird, but in the context of TROS it really worked for me. I was very anti Bendemption before I watched TROS. Darth Vader was redeemed and he killed the younglings. And to be fair, Kylo never tried to murder Leia. He had a brief moment, but instantly changed his mind. Just like Luke and Ben Solo. Rey is Palpatine's granddaughter? Answer: Yes. The Emperor being alive destroys Luke and Anakin's character arcs? Answer: Anakin brought balance to the force, if only for a short period of time. His sacrifice saved Luke. Hitler was a soldier during WW1. Hitler being alive during WW2 destroys the character arc of all the soldiers that fought against the Central Powers during WW1? I don't think so. Rey being Palpatine's granddaughter and winning the final battle implies only a Palpatine could defeat another Palpatine, and negates every single effort made by the Skywalkers? Answer: Skywalker effort? Like killing the younglings and the Tuskens? To me it say that you can change your destiny if you do the right thing. Anakin figured that out too. It's a perfect FU to Palpatine. And yeah, Rey couldn't do it on her own. She needed the help from Ben (Skywalker). All of the Skywalkers are dead implying Palpatine won the entire chessboard in the end? Answer: Well, Rey becomes a Skywalker and Palpatine becomes Sheev Ernst Toht. I don't see how he won anything. When Ben gave his life force to Rey a part of the Skywalkers live on in her. Hell, she could maybe even be pregnant. Did you see where Ben placed his hand when he brought her back to life? Where the hell did that yellow lightsaber come from? Answer: Where the hell did that green lightsaber come from? Doesn't matter to RetroBlasting. Rey just calls herself a Skywalker in the end? Answer: Read above. In a way Luke and Leia became the parents she never had. Finally. In my opinion the OT reigns supreme. Nothing can ever compare to them. In knowing this I have realized that I rather have fun with Star Wars than being cynical and nitpicking. That being said, I don't like everything. Resistance is not that good (a few episodes are great though). Forces of Destiny is pretty bad all over.
There you go 2 people go to the unknown regions and bring back an army. Yeah I honesty gave Chuck’s trilogy a shot and it just didn’t make sense. You also mention Hitler, I suggest watching Hitlers Inner Circle. Now if they followed that it would make sense. we know from the clone wars cartoon and the prequels that the money is being borrowed from the banking guild, how about after the emperors death the economy crumbles, we get a taste in the Mandalorian that imperial credits aren’t worth anything, the key players were put into power in Germany when the Laborer party was voted in by the people, since they were speaking doom and gloom from their debt after WW1 and when the crash hit the US we called in those loans which caused Germany to crash. you can do the same in SW, either way you just don’t come from the unknown regions with unlimited resources and the kidnapping of children to fill in your ranks being that they are in their mid to later 20’s and these events happen 30years later. They must have been kidnapped at what age 5 or 10 to be kids so pretty much the kids that were conceived during the battle of Endor. This was going on during the New Republic and no one did anything. We saw what the old republic did over a trade dispute a dispute not a kid napping of hundred of thousand kids from families, families that elect representatives in the new republic. Anyway all I’m saying is you could have had a corrupt power come in offering a solution to the depression the universe would have been going through after the Imperial Credit was devalued. I focus on this, cause this is what I do for a living, and believe me poor, starving races will vote for someone with answers in desperate times. The whole Leia being Vader’s daughter, how they explained it in the book never sat right with me. Considering that Luke and Leia knew.
Star Wars ends at Return of the Jedi, the so called sequel trilogy is nothing more then the equivalent of Dragon Ball GT. Rogue One is alright. The Mandalorian is fantastic.
It’s the difference between GL’s Star Wars, and Disney’s Star Wars. The same way Star Trek changed when they created their parallel universe that they tried to convince people is and always was... a prequel to TOS. Which it isn’t.
Micky throwing out the eu is all just a profit grab. The mouse just does not want to pay a penny of royalties for someone else’s idea, no matter how good it is.
Luke lost his hand in battle against an experienced Sith and took a few years of training before becoming a master whereas Rey picked all of it up on her first try and hasn’t so much a scar on her for it! So, because she’s a woman she gets to keep her parts and have things handed to her even presumes she gets to take Skywalker as her family name?! Bad message and the worst sort of fanfiction! Let it fade.
Like prequels, hate sequels. I take bad execution or some silly dialogue over bad story and no worldbuilding at all anyday. Atleast in the prequels nobody needs to ask "so what were the bad guys actually?" after being done, for example.
Yes, as a prequel fan I am painfully aware of the potential for cringe dialogue and clunky Exposition, but as a fan since 77 its painful to have to admit Return of the Jedi's flaws. Han and Lea really don't have anything to do. I think a story about Hans presumed to be dead dad would have been cool, but that is story for another time. I have to say I love the scenes with Jake loyd in the podrace, AND when he's piloting the naboo starfighter, blowing up the control ship, "now this is podracing"lol , even Jar jar at times, but I ain't mad at anyone who doesn't agree.
@@leventeprincz7436 well boy oh boy if the rumors are true about the new Resistance animated series are true you sure are going to be in for a rude awakening because the Yuuzhan Vong aren't going anywhere if the rumors are true.
Prequels: poorly written and sometimes poorly acted lore that does not destroy the established canon of the original series, some silly ideas that sound stupid but again, aren't important enough to worry about destroying the continuity. overall, they were okay. Sequels: no established canon matters. nothing makes sense or is explained, contradicts itself regularly, destroys any narrative or plot from ALL previous movies. including movies within its own trilogy. overall, a hot steaming corporate dump attempting to suck all the money possible out of a beloved franchise.
yep Prequels are great for wolrd building. The Prequels ideas were great but the execution was bad.The ideas in the sequels were bad and execution was bad
@@ColonelAngus3 the idea of vader being the chosen one to bring balance was something even most of the OT fans actually liked. So that dont count. The saga as Lucas once stated is about anakin and his redemption. Its the way ITS ALWAYS BEEN. Luke was just a very important part of Anakins story of redemption.
“You’ll take whatever-“ “Doesn’t matter to them-“ Lol. This video is so satisfying on so many levels... I’ve watched it at least 10 times over the past few weeks...
and then tried to fix it will with putting to much "fanservice" in TROS . even now they want to release material for series and movies to fix the damage they did with TLJ with Luke's character, but no matter how much they create, he still has a terrible role and end in TLJ wich for me ruined the whole love i had for this franchise
@Enzo 1965 From the point of a person raised in Poland this type of behaviour looks so fookin ridiculous. How terryfing is that you're using someone's skin color and gender, stuff they didn't have power over when they were born, as your argument in discussion. That's just mad.

I unironically like the prequels because I understood and liked what they were trying to do with it. Things at least made sense. Sequel trilogy is over and I still don't even know what the First Order is.
It's their decision to pack the films with a lot of stuff which makes no sense; only to fill the gaps with comics. Want to know where the Knights of Ren were or anything about them? Rise of Kylo Ren comic. Oh you want more in the films? Nah, we're not gonna bother.
I quite agree, I love comics or books with fill us in on additional history or adventures of a character, but they should not be the main..or only way to figure out who/what the heck is going on in a movie. Poe is spice runner...cool, did he ever meet Paul Maud'ib? Have to bribe the spacing guild? Save his partners from being eaten by a sand worm...who cares?
Gattapult Gaming How am I supposed to enjoy a movie trilogy where my three favorite characters of all time die in very undignified and inglorious ways? How am I supposed to enjoy something where there are no new interesting characters to connect to? How am I supposed to enjoy something when I don’t know what the stakes are, why the bad guys are doing what they’re doing, or what anybody’s motivations are? I suppose I just turn my brain off and watch the pretty colors flying across the screen. Fucking normies.
Shadowkey392 Remember when people didn’t have to lie about what happens in the films to make them appear good? I don’t, because the sequels were never good and their defenders always lied.

Seriously Allegiance is a really good book, most of Zahns books are great like the Thrawn stuff but for a stand-alone that was super fun.
"Doesn't matter to them." Correct. This is the current generation: they flit from one emotional state to the next without any consistency or thought for the one before. These are people who have never learned to learn because they don't need to retain information with Wikipedia, Siri and Alexa at their fingertips to provide instant (and _possibly_ accurate) information for their immediate consumption--followed by their immediate forgetting. Their brains are disengaged, but their sense of awe is on all the time, like a child exploring a world of colors and sensations without any connection to their sources or causes. Character motivations are nothing--pretty lights! Attaining value is easy--just put your name on something that already exists and call it your own, then denigrate _en masse_ those who say otherwise. This is the 21st century, folks. Enjoy it while you can.
Enough with the "dis new generation stoopid" bullshit Every gen had their own idiots who consumed media without thinking about it, it aint exclusive to the new ones. Its the job for the rest of us to support media that is actually good instead of good looking
@@UndeadBug It's not entirely untrue, though. of course there were always stupid people, but what the industry has been able to carefully cultivate over the years is a group of people clamoring to categorize themselves as "nerds", even though they're far from it. They have slowly turned all of this media into a personality, that shallow and uninteresting people can latch onto, trying to be one of the cool kids, when originally, being a "nerd" was anything but. that is why you have so many people just blindly obeying and clapping for this trash. they saw how prior generations or groups responded to it, and now feel as though this is the proper response, even if the product they're now supporting is a hot dumpster fire. I think he was describing this vapid cult of personality that these people wear like a mask. Thats why they come across as either invalids with por taste or delusional. They bought into a fan group with a large base, to fit in, and all of those original fans are looking around in confusion as praise is heaped on this franchise with very little to back up why.
@@hashvendetta7226 I agree with quite a few of your points, however the person i was responding to didn't talk about the wannabe nerds or the industry loyal simps, he was generalizing about the whole of Gen X, about how bad and disjointed they are from reality. That is why i had a problem with him
The people who like sequels are not the mainstream Star Wars Fanbase. They are in the minority. I also hate the argument that "you don't get the movie".
And they follow with, the EU was never Canon so pls move along. Also I watch some of the behind the filming scenes where George Lucas had around 18 people working over script dialog for three hours just to try to keep the cost of filming down to a single 3 to 5 minutes screen shot. GL may had Creative Ownership of Intellectual Property, but Star Wars as we seen it was not His baby alone. The later 1990's novel shown what kind of Life it took on its own.
@@stingywingy1607 Well it is hard to understand when they don't include key plot points in the freaking movies. This is Star Wars not a modern art piece. It shouldn't be hard to understand what is going on.
When I left the theater after the Rise of Skywalker I felt good, like I had just had an enjoyable experience. But as I digested my experience things turned sour quite quickly. And I realized that it is just as you say. The whole new series is like low quality fast food drizzled in enough MSG and spray painted so that it pleases the sensory palate, but the subsequent digestion is very unpleasant. For all the shit Lucas got with the prequels they are absolute gold compared to this dismal excuse for a trilogy. I'm almost starting to hope that they run this shit into the ground so bad they are forced to sell Lucasfilm and hopefully someone better can purchase it and imbue with the spirit of the originals.
I expected this trilogy to suck after watching The Force Awakens, but I never would have imagined Rian Johnson burning the whole thing down in Episode 8. 7 was a shoddy foundation, but 8 took a sledgehammer to it all and 9 is a sad attempt to put something together at the last minute.
Kylo leaving with some of Luke apprentices' and the apprentices totally disappeared from the trilogy? ...doesn't matter to them. God this trilogy is just trash!
@@curtiszilla9192 That's what I do - as far as I am concerned, the Disney trilogy never happened in canon: it's all just some badly-written fanfic that got made into a film series somehow...
In conclusion the new Sequel Trilogy are: Brand Loyalists and Mindless consumers. They will take anything as long as it has a Star Wars sticker in it. Yeah this is big problem with some fans and specially the new zealots who religiously defend the Sequels.. I want to show an example of one of my friends who is like this: - He says that he is glad that the EU was scrapped as the force powers got ridiculous. Yet he screams like a little girl when she sees the force being used in exaggerated ways in the Sequels. - She says that she hates the idea of being a Skywalker. She hates that the new "heroes" need to be related to someone, because it makes the Universe feel "small". Yet with the Rise of Skywalker, they had no problem with Rey being a Palpatine or that at the end she took the name Skywalker. - Speaking of the Universe being small, she has no problem with essentially the plot being a rehash of the Original Trilogy. Making the new Trilogy basically a soft core reboot of the Original Trilogy. Then I have meet other people that will believe anything the news or the zealot fans tells them. Believing that the new stories have "deep themes", when in reality those deep themes make no sense and what they like is just deconstruction of stories just for the sake of deconstructions. I believe that, deep down they know this Trilogy is garbage. However because of Lucasfilms anti-costumer attitude, the media and the zealots deminizing any fan with a negative opinion, and because they are just brand loyalists. They are afraid that they will lose their love of Star Wars.
They are afraid if they don't love it 'enough' the studios will take away the candy and there will be nothing left for them to love; As an old school trekkie & whovian; real love is there even when the studios have dropped the ball and are no longer making what you love, you love it all the more; you keep the flame burning so that when the next generation shows up, and the studios pick up the ball again, you can share your love and show how to care for it; so that when the studios drop that ball, the new fans know how to carry the flame forward.
Yeah I have a friend who bitches about "Grand Master Luke" in legends being OP despite the fact he EARNED it over the course of decades. She doesn't bat a fucking eye at Rey.
rey uses force lightning me: yawn fans: you just don't understand its so deep... me: its a fucking cartoon in live action wtf you talking about ...this sucks
I'm assuming you are referring to the old Thrawn trilogy and not the new series of Thrawn novels cuz the later happens prior to the original trilogy...
@@kailaine3974 for now I just want Disney to move away from the Skywalker Saga and start making movies in a completely different era so they can no longer rely on sentimental value and nostalgia and are actually forced to write a decent story. Yeah a Thrawn movie would be cool but just as a result of it's proximity in time to the other movies it lets them be lazy.
Even Mark Hamill said in interviews, this isn't the Luke Skywalker, but he credited some line from, this isn't what you would expect, imo Rian butchered Luke's character. Abs Kennedy who had no bond or passion or any understanding of this franchise, thought it was brilliant and have them the green light to do so, effect, splitting the Star Wars fanbase in half, plummeting sales of merchandise ( figures of rose, snoke and holdo remaining shelved the most or on sale for less as a few dollars) as with JJ start he has absolutely no build up of the characters background, they just appear and without any training can do anything. This whole trilogy makes the 1st 6 movies useless, there is barely any connection besides a few characters who get written off as a divorced bad father, or a depressed hermit. And the last to die, died before they could write her death scene.
A brilliant ending for 2019. If you're watching this video (and reading this comment) years after is was posted, know that it perfectly encapsulates the state of Star Wars fandom at the time it was created. I hope your future adventures a long time ago (see what I did there?), in a galaxy far, far, away are better than they are in 2019.
Yeah. I totally agree. Future generations will not know what Star Wars was. Many will watch the prequels first(which is fine, but it’s the back story for a reason)and many will watch the original trilogy(despite the aging of the effects) and they might watch the sequel trilogy too. They will look back at this era will confusion for all the hate one trilogy used to get(prequels) and the admiration for another(sequels). I only hope the franchise is better in near future.
This rant is a perfect summary of how I have felt about the Disney era of Star Wars. This was very well thought out and much more eloquently portrayed than any of my mad ramblings to friends and co-workers. You, good sir, just got a new subscriber. To be honest, I found this channel while trying to find the origins of why the original Luke Skywalker toy had a yellow lightsaber... That quest is still on-going.
Just once I wanted a soundbite of The Rock screaming "IT DOESN'T MATTER !!!" during that montage. Happy new year retroblasting. Cant wait to see what 2020 has in store for everyone.
Is this really a generation thing? I guess gen Z-ers don't have much to compare the new films to, and the consoomer mindset is getting more and more common. Okay, fuck it. It is mostly a generational thing. Millennials seem 50/50 though.
This video is exactly what many of us have been thinking. The last three movies basically make no sense, and do not connect to the original Star Wars trilogy or the prequels.
Han Solo's cameo more than likely only happened because Carrie Fisher died and Kylo Ren had to reconcile with at least ONE of his parents, not because they gave any particular shit about Han Solo being in the film, it's also probably why Harrison Ford actually agreed, that thought does amuse me
How the hell do the people in this movie just dissappear when they die, not even Qui-Gon, Anakin, or other jedi that died during Order 66 did that when they died. It doesn't just happen, and to quote someone, "that's not how the force works". Only Obi-Wan and Yoda's bodies dissappeared when they died, and if I remember correctly, Lucas explained that that happens after extensive training, which the new characters never did considering they never went into isolation or trained extensively for years.
It’s a technique that was invented by quigon jin so none of the Jedi from order 66 would have known it. Apparently yoda, anakin, obiwan, and luke learned it so that tracks but I have no idea why Kylo disappeared unless he just knew that technique from training, but he trained with the dark side so I don’t see how he would have learned it.
I always liked the prequels myself. Yes they have issues and they should have been better than they were, but the storyline was solid. All George needed was what he had in the original movies.... several people sharing responsibility and to help keep cannon in place, improve dialogue, etc. Instead he had total creative control with no one around to help clean things up for the established fanbase. Now as for Disney. The only okay movie was really Rogue One. The movie was unneeded since it covers well known material, but at least it doesn't suck. All their movies have merit from a technical and filmography standpoint, but that is where my praise begins and ends. Beyond that though, if Disney really wanted to make people happy (they don't) and make money (apparently not) then they needed to do something very different from what they did. 1) Make the sequel trilogy as originally intended by George and with his assistance when available to finish the saga out the right way. 2) Make an alternate 'cinematic universe' until the end of time or until they get bored with the franchise. Use the expanded universe content for this. Adapting everything from KOTOR to the Force Unleashed to the Thrawn trilogy and so much more. This could be done with tv series, cartoons, live action cartoons, and whatever else and would require recasting many of the actors periodically as they become too old for their parts or die of old age, but this could be kept going practically forever. Result: Everyone wins and Disney makes more money than God. Instead Disney chose option 3. Change established character personalities, break cannon all over the place, call the fans toxic for years, create unoriginal rehashes of previous movies, hire directors who don't understand or care about Star Wars, throw out the entire EU and then claim they have no material to work with. All these problems and more is exactly what has largely murdered the Star Wars brand which many of us didn't think could be done but Disney has essentially done it.
Yeah, a story about the "microbiotic world of the Force" sounds fascinating. Typical GL: "Hey guys, remember how much you all hated midichlorians? I'm doing three movies about them!"
"You have to understand it to like it" Well, yes, i do understand star wars has been turned into a mindless franchise based on spectacle rather than story, its the new transformers To enjoy it you dont have to stop thinking, you just have to lower your expectations to the bare minimum
And even that is true. Transformers has brain less but cool looking action. The Sequels don't have a Action packet or good looking Light Saber battle or a Space Battle like the Prequels. The Battle of Coruscante still looks awesome compared to the Space Battle from Episode 8 or 9.
The fact that there are people saying this implying that disney SW and especially the last jedi are movies that you have to understand as if they were good intelligent movies makes me want to go full columbine. (FBI I'm joking)
what's hilarious is that they try to argue that it's some "complex, deep, twisted plotline that makes you question the world" it really doesn't, it's simple and bland, there isn't anything special about TLJ

Even though this video was made 2 years ago, it's still very relevant and the argument made is both passionate and blunt. Well done sir. 🙏
the Mandalorian is as bad and as good as the clone wars, dumbed-down villains (compared to their movie representations) and often cliche storytelling (not always a bad thing) that feels repetitive (which is bad). but also has cool visuals, good main characters, an interesting setting and often good storytelling. its a mixed bag
Exactly this; people complain about things they don't like in the sequel movies, and those that defend the sequels attack the *people* complaining. The argument of, "you don't enjoy it because you don't understand how to appreciate it" from people defending the sequels but attacking the prequels. "It's just space wizards, don't think too hard about it" comments drive me crazy. Aren't we supposed to care about the message behind it all, like Lucas did?
This is so absurd. Do you know how many times I was personally attacked for defending TLJ? Can you stop with your crusade of moral outrage. It's exhausting.

This video was pure YT GOOOLLLDDDD! I love this video so much, and lost it laughing. I will be saying "doesn't matter to them" in my sleep tonight while I'm chuckling! Some things I did disagree with, or could give you an answer on, but it was maybe like one or two of your points. The sequel trilogy is the furthest thing from a cohesive story. It's even worse when you take the entire saga in consideration. At least we got cohesive storytelling with George Luca's. Last, I love the car comparison, as an automotive technician. Theres a whole community that exists just to "care about" these things, especially on twitter. The other half, I dont believe realize how much Marketing BS is being thrown at them. They dont realize that the Disney corporation couldnt care less about Representation of anyone or anything, as Disney just wants to capitalize on having the attention of those who DO care, to earn a buck from and to pander to.
You're right! Those whomst can't handle constructive criticism usually feel TOO GOOD about themselves already. They already love themselves SO MUCH; and think of themselves as SO PERFECT. Anything said in contrary to their self-love is taken as a personal attack. They hate it when people bring harm to their PERFECT self-image constructed of pure delusion. Basically, they see everyone as LESSER than them and feel like someone BELOW them shouldn't be "talking down" to them. However, when SOMETIMES someone gives them advice in the form of "constructive criticism," and they see it as a form of pure hatred! @Eye Above All Star Wars is now too toxic to be assimilated. 😉
To be fair
Rey is as developed as Luke and Anakin in their part one films and as developed come part 3.
@@ryancols To be fair
both Luke and Anakin needed rescuing multiple times by others, and were shown to need other characters for support.

2019 was the year Mandalorian and Fallen Order came out, and the vast majority of fans liked it, proving that SW fans aren't a bunch of factions impossible to please - there is a way to make Star Wars that unites the fanbase.
I would give fallen order an 8 or 9 out of 10. One of the only issues with the game is that you can only do one move with two lightsabers.

Doesn't matter to them!
- Michael D. French (2019)
How many things don't matter to them?
Michael - Yes.
As lucas said in his interview with James Cameron (paraphrasing here):
In film, you have to maintain the immaculate Universe in which your story exists. As soon as you break it, people stop caring about the characters and worlds you craft.
I think he was trying to tell us something there
"Doesn't matter to them" will become a drinking game.
Here is an example that many people overlook and my question:-
In a village of poor scavengers who spend all day looking for a nut, or a microchip with a little value to be able to eat, constantly working boning old machines....
Why did the first scavenger that found the brand new, completely intact and running the Droid BB the one he was mistreating handed it to Rey without fighting and without discussing giving it to her for free?
Disney and Jar Jar Abrahams answer : Because.....yes.
Lazy stupid writers.
Star Wars--"Doesn't Matter to Them."
That's pretty much the problem--Disney is making movies for people that DON'T LIKE STAR WARS.
Just like Star Trek.
I disagree. I have been a diehard fan of Star Wars for my entire life. I loved TFA, R1, and TROS.
Brick Builder Watts Good.
Mandalorian pretty good though
Playing kotor again what a good time
I don't understand why Disney didn't focus the trilogy around the concepts that Kreia was trying to teach us in KOTOR 2.

Mark Hamill said it best during an interview before Last Jedi hit theaters. That he didn't feel his character was fleshed out in the film and that it was up to books and video games to detail Luke's life.
The only books I'm buying are Legends.

See the thing that makes me think a writer is good at fantasy and sci-fi is when they establish rules and stick to them.......There is no such thing in this triilogy. Lore and consistency got thrown out the window for fancy pictures.
It just pisses me off on so many levels. Imagine someone coming in a writing a sequel to Harry Potter with "there's this 11 year old who has never learnt magic but he intuitively knows the spells and perfroms them perfectly and students no longer need a wand to perform advanced spells and we have discovered spells that can bring the dead back to life".....just imagine the backlash

@Radio Kaos =characters don't have to better themselves/we don't have to make our characters better
yeah thats why I hate continuations of action stories with masters and shit cause the kid of the main character we followed for years or his student or whatever surpasses him usually which sucks and its like when the kid we followed surpasses the master, that master had a life and story we never really saw so thats fine and the point so he can be the hero..and we knew that going in cause we follow this younger training character from jump street before the series is well known but then when you do it again for the new generation of younger audiences a dozen years later as its very popular it just feels cheap cause you didn't set up your own idea world characters you took an idea and just did it again honestly...even if its in different ways its not different enough outline wise...its the same structure just with different details and some subverting going on just to set yourself apart..does that make sense?..I hate that shit...come up with your own star wars set 100 years later and make a world don't ruin the original trilogy with this backtrack shit and then kill off our heroes and set these new films in a similar timeline..thats just asking for issues
But yeah, it would have smarter if they had jumped away, but instead they were cocky and thought they could do whatever with the characters

makes you wonder why movie 7 even tried to tie back to the original trilogy?...it just failed in their faces..why not just start 100 years later after return of jedi with new characters?...just say luke trained many new jedi maybe had a kid who then had their own kid who then had their own kid and is our new main character or keep it vague aka a mystery so by movie 2 or 3 of the trilogy we find out hes luke's great grandkid or something like don't reveal it in movie 1...you know what I mean?..leave like one hint and then reveal it like empire did in movie 2 which ties it to 3 so we have a reason to watch all 3 films or just have no hint at it and just reveal it....how cool would that be? ..like in the first film they have small ability to se the force and we wonder how?....like come on and their the underdog normal late teen character not some female brat scavenger which I can't relate to ....well anyways so for movie 1 start us off in a new world that is peaceful like a soft reboot and now we reset at this generations episode 4 or 1 kinda with new characters dealing with new issues and set up a new empire in movie 1 while introducing us to new characters and making them have origins like new hope did then have huge training trials and chases in in movie 2 then in movie the finale conclusion to the trilogy where a narrative that has been built through the three films comes full circle through your new main character.....how hard is that?...would of made a lot of us like the films more and thus the rogue one and solo and possible kenobi films would of gotten us excited as one offs to characters and stories we thought we would never see again on the big screen...then they claim theres no source material after not listening to lucas' ideas for the new stories at all while trying to force nostalgia onto us with characters from 1977 and directors who want to either hit us with fanservice or subvert our expectations...did they realize lucas made the ideas for the original trilogy and Indiana jones?..hes pretty good at ideas as a basis...then you pay him and get directors writers actors and animators to perfect his ideas onto the big screen ..pretty simple...and they also made all source material like comics uncanon..good job disney...only thing they made that is worth a damn is the madalorian ….its amazing how they messed this up and then expect us to turn our brains off and forgive bad filmmaking and production with this much budget and resources after making lucas sell while damn near all of it went to charity anyways..smdh ...like you don't have to go from return of jedi to the retirement home era after it...just continue the story from a new place..oh but that requires real ideas work and they won't get the nostalgia money if they did that lol ...I don't care what anyone says dinsey is a joke just trying to get their money back ...couldn't stand force awakens hated last jedi less but still had hate for it ...rise of skywalker annoyed me a lot with its flaws even if its atleast a meh somewhat enjoyable movie its still bad like the other 2 in many ways too....what a waste...

For her step father to leave a message on another parent that was discovered by a 1st order sympathizer, yeah ok sure

Me neither. I keep telling people that we can decide what the canon is ourselves even if Darth Mickey says it is something else

The Chad Legends vs The Virgin Canon

That photo of George Lucas with the Disney characters is not as endearing as I'm sure people initially believed. I see a man held hostage.
@Paul Thomas Johnson He thought Kathleen Kennedy, who he worked with for many years, would take care of his creation. Man, was he ever wrong.
Well spoken. Welcome to the fandom menace.
That’s close to how I felt about Last Jedi. Especially after the second viewing.
Thank you! From all of us Star Wars fans with standards.
this is more relevant now then it was when you made it
Kylo leaving with some of Luke apprentices' and the apprentices totally disappeared from the trilogy? ...doesn't matter to them.

@@curtiszilla9192 🤷🤦
@@curtiszilla9192 That's what I do - as far as I am concerned, the Disney trilogy never happened in canon: it's all just some badly-written fanfic that got made into a film series somehow...
In conclusion the new Sequel Trilogy are: Brand Loyalists and Mindless consumers.
They will take anything as long as it has a Star Wars sticker in it.
Yeah this is big problem with some fans and specially the new zealots who religiously defend the Sequels..
I want to show an example of one of my friends who is like this:
- He says that he is glad that the EU was scrapped as the force powers got ridiculous.
I wish I could like this video more than once. Well-written, logical and passionate argument Michael.

rey uses force lightning

fans: you just don't understand its so deep...
me: its a fucking cartoon in live action wtf you talking about ...this sucks
Yup, WE understand it just fine. It's Disney's writers who don't understand it.
The Thrawn trilogy will always be the true sequel trilogy. Also, this rant is legendary.
I'm assuming you are referring to the old Thrawn trilogy and not the new series of Thrawn novels cuz the later happens prior to the original trilogy...
TheKazz Yes, Legends Thrawn.
I kind of want a Thrawn solo movie, ngl
First star wars books I ever read. Still the best I ever read.
The new thrawn trilogy i see as a "prequel " trilogy for thrawn. Pretty gd.
The throwing the lightsaber over the cliff thing probably pissed me off the most.
Piss me off too! The Luke I know wouldn’t do that to his own father’s lightsaber
@@rocketbeastwolf Fair, considering this isn't the Luke we know. Its Jake Skywalker, a very poor interpretation of our beloved Luke.
That was the "WTFF" moment 🤬
It was hyperspace as a weapon for me.

From one Gen-Xer to another: this was cathartic on the level of the Plinkett Prequel reviews. Thank you.
Agreed!
Same! I love when other people can vocalize exactly how I'm feeling.
Tom Ffrench you do know the people who did the Plinkett reviews like the prequels right?
Is this really a generation thing? I guess gen Z-ers don't have much to compare the new films to, and the consoomer mindset is getting more and more common. Okay, fuck it. It is mostly a generational thing. Millennials seem 50/50 though.
The writer of Rise of Skywalker called Leia and Luke HEIRS TO THE EMPIRE. Interesting...
This video is exactly what many of us have been thinking. The last three movies basically make no sense, and do not connect to the original Star Wars trilogy or the prequels.
Han Solo's cameo more than likely only happened because Carrie Fisher died and Kylo Ren had to reconcile with at least ONE of his parents, not because they gave any particular shit about Han Solo being in the film, it's also probably why Harrison Ford actually agreed, that thought does amuse me
LMFAO "Put on your Holdo wig!" Well said. Happy New Year Michael + Melinda!
Because they dont care.

To enjoy it you dont have to stop thinking, you just have to lower your expectations to the bare minimum
And even that is true.
Transformers has brain less but cool looking action.
The Sequels don't have a Action packet or good looking Light Saber battle or a Space Battle like the Prequels.
The Battle of Coruscante still looks awesome compared to the Space Battle from Episode 8 or 9.

“I like it because its shiny” thats what I assume their reasoning is
I think their reasoning is that they legit buy into the whole "representation" thing and think they are serving a higher cause by liking something they are told "advances the cause of women/poc/wtf-ever" I'd say half of the fans of the Disney Trilogy are only fans as a massive Virtue Signal to the rest.
